Förbättring av väggfäste för flatscreens

The project was carried out in cooperation with the department of product development IOS at IKEA. The work included improvements of a new existing product that Ikea soon will release on the market, Observatör, a wall bracket for flat screens. The product is supposed to fulfil the needs within this market for IKEA. However, since Ikea was not satisfied with it, our work was to carry out the improvements that were specified in the beginning of the project. Another task in the project was to develop a side-product that is supposed to be used together with Obeservatör for storage of DVD/decoders.The project included labour as problem definition to final technical drawings and a prototype.

The aim of this Masters thesis is to investigate how trained social workers experience information in their daily work. The thesis focussed on three major questions: - What type of information and information sources are mostly used by the trained social workers? - What kind of information barriers are described by the participants? - How can the patterns of information seeking and information use be understood on the basis of the trained social workers professional and social context? Semi-structured interviews were carried out with trained social workers working with child welfare enquiries. My theoretical framework consists of user and context oriented theories about classifications of information, information barriers and models of information sources. My conclusions are that trained social workers working with risk assessment in child protection services, need to use different kinds of information in their daily work, such as problem information, domain information and problem-solving information.

I?ll discuss how come US tends to go towards a more sanction orientated strategy while European Union seems to prefer a dialog and diplomatic Problem Solving strategy. I?ll exemplify respective security strategy through the qualitative cases study of Iran and analyse why they have taken different cores of action while trying to solve the problem with Iran's alleged nuclear weapon.

Perspektiv på prostitution - En analys av hur Sveriges lösningar på prostitutionsproblemet tar sig uttryck

In Sweden, prostitution is politically defined as a social problem, more precisely, as a form of male violence against women. The definition is distinctly manifested in the government bill Kvinnofrid, characterised by the unique Swedish law that prohibits the purchase of sexual services.This thesis examines how the Swedish solutions of prostitution are carried out. By interviewing central actors working with prostitution in different ways we aim to answer the question: What measures are taken to decrease prostitution and what implications does the Swedish solution have?The analysis is divided into two parts. First, we analyse the concrete measures taken against prostitution ? what is done, how, and why? Second, we analyse the complexity of prostitution measures by applying complementary analytical perspectives: the symbolic and the discourse perspective.The study shows that measures taken to decrease prostitution vary and depend on individual actors? understandings of the political definition.

"Barn är viktigare nu på något vis" : En kvalitativ studie om hur fem pedagoger resonerar och praktiskt arbetar med barns inflytande och delaktighet i förskolan

The aim of this study is to investigate into the use of discussions in the classroom to help the pupils develop a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts and operations. The empirical data contain interviews with two teachers and observations from their lessons. The purpose of the interviews was to find out what importance the teachers ascribed to the ability of their pupils to talk about mathematics, and how they organised their classes to encourage mathematical discussions. With the observations, I was able to see the interaction in the classroom and hear discussions between the teacher and the pupils, as well as between the pupils themselves.The interviewed teachers proved to share my own belief in the results of researchers like Malmer (1999) and Löwing (2006) about the importance of verbal discussion, argumentation and reflection during mathematics classes. But convictions derived from the research of others are one thing, the practical application of the wisdom in the classroom another.

Skolkuratorns problemlösningsprocess : En kvalitativ studie med fem högstadiekuratorer

SAMMANFATTNINGSyftet med studien är att undersöka hur problemlösningsprocessen fungerar när skolkuratorer arbetar med högstadieelever som har problem. De frågeställningar som formulerats utifrån syftet är:* Hur får skolkuratorer kännedom om elever som harproblem?* Vilka åtgärder vidtas under problemlösningsprocessen?* Vad blir utfallet av processen?* Vad gör en problemlösningsprocess lätt att genomföra, ochvad gör den svår?* Hur påverkar samverkan med andra parterproblemlösningsprocessen?Undersökningen bygger på kvalitativa intervjuer med fem skolkuratorer och syftar till att beskriva arbetssituationen så som den ser ut för några skolkuratorer. Uppsatsen utgår ifrån ett fenomenologiskt perspektiv då vi vill beskriva och förstå verkligheten utifrån aktörernas egna perspektiv. Den teoretiska ramen utgörs av rollteori och kommunikationsteori.Sammanfattningsvis visar resultatet att det som i huvudsak påverkat om problemlösningsprocessen upplevts som lätt eller svår är tydligheten/otydligheten i kuratorns roll gentemot andra parter/myndigheter, elevens motivation och mottaglighet för samtal och slutligen hur samarbetet med föräldrar, pedagoger, socialtjänst, BUP, elevhälsoteam och elev fungerat.

Through analysis of the work of scheduling the doctors at the hospitals of Sundsvall,Gävle and Karolinska in Stockholm this thesis presents some conclusion about howand why a computer system would benefit these very tasks. The reason for doing thisis mainly to save money through more efficient scheduling, but also to minimizeerrors and maximize comfort for scheduler and doctor alike.Scheduling consists of collecting doctors? requests, assessing the need of staff,distribute the available doctors and make sure all tasks are covered throughout thescheduled period of time. The work is often very complex and involves manyvariables ranging from competence to personal whishes and economical constraints.Solving these problems takes a lot of time and energy which could be better spentcuring patients.The conclusion of this thesis is that there is reason to develop such a system to savetime and optimize resources. Purpose: The purpose of the study is to find out what mathematical content primary school children encounter in their free options at school.Through observation, the study defines mathematical areas that primary school students encounter in their free options at school. We want the study to show the reader the mathematics that students continuously meet without associating it with regular mathematics as taught in school.A number of mathematical areas have been defined in the analysis of the observations. These areas have subsequently been discussed more thoroughly. Finally, the areas have been arranged in a grid system to clarify the results.In our study, we have discovered that mathematics exists in all the observed situations the students participated in.We believe that observation as a method can give teachers a tool for helping students associate practical actions during their free options with the more theoretical aspects of formal teaching of mathematics. Practice of mathematical proof increase the understanding of mathematics anddevelop creativity skills, Problem Solving, communication, logical thinking andreasoning which are all important tools not only within the subject of mathematicsbut also important tools for the society in which we are living. The aim of this projectwas to investigate whether it is accurate that proof and proving has a subordinate rolein mathematic education in the upper secondary school in Sweden. This was done byconstructing of a digital survey that was sent to approximately 100 practicingmathematics teachers in a normal size city located in the middle of Sweden. Theresults of the survey show that the teachers consider themselves comfortable withtheir own skills in teaching proof. Paradoxically, the results also show that there is alack of teaching of proof and proving in the upper secondary school, although the newcurriculum puts more focus on proof and proving..

The aim is to design a module for living which is flexible in a bigger context, which could condens the city and to answer the questions: How is it possible to make a livingmodule where the compact living theme works in an everyday situation? How is it possible to make one module which is able to function in several different situations? The process in solving problem has been characterized of trial and error: design a module and learn from the mistakes and take the knowledge to the next module. This is the way I have worked until I found a good solution. As a result I can show an efficient module which has several nice values of space and that is flexible and to some part adjust for a disabled person. It can on several ways condens the city.

Todays board game manuals have many shortcomings. One of them is that they are not always adapted to the game's target audience.Adapting the language and shape of a game manual for the the target group children, can save time for both parents and teachers, and give the children a chance to conquer the game by themselves. In addition, playing board games can lead to children developing other important properties such as Problem Solving and independence.This study found that the game manuals inconsistency, tone and the way they adress the reader makes it difficult for children to grasp the content. Many game manuals do not speak directly to the reader, and often describes gameplay in a passive way, which has been shown by this study.This study has resulted in 12 guidelines for writing game manuals for children. In addition, they have been tested with a sample study.

Uppfattningar av problemlösningsförmåga : En kvalitativ studie om lärares uppfattningar av problemlösningsförmåga

Detta är en fenomenografisk studie som syftar till att undersöka ett antal lärares uppfattningar av fenomenet problemlösningsförmåga. Lärare i Svenska grundskolor ska idag bedöma och utveckla elevers problemlösningsförmåga och från och med 2003 har PISA lagt fokus på att mäta elevers problemlösningsförmåga inom matematiken. Resultaten av dessa mätningar visar att Svenska elevers matematikkunskaper har minskat sedan 90-talet. Vad är det då för förmåga som testas och vad har lärare för uppfattningar om fenomenet problemlösningsförmåga? I den här studien redovisar vi vetenskapliga rapporter som på ett eller annat sätt behandlar fenomenet problemlösningsförmåga.
