The management at the City of Stockholm?s Sports Department have problems. During recent years several IT-projects have been launched but results are worse than could have been hoped for. The projects are generally perceived as being too expensive, too time consuming and not to have delivered the expected results. This thesis aims at giving the City of Stockholm?s Sports Department theoretically based advice on how to improve their management of IT-projects.

The thesis aims at, from a user perspective, examining how a group of industrial researchers understand the information seeking in their every day work. A qualitative method is employed. The empirical material consists of open-ended interviews with in all ten researchers. All of them work at the Swiss-Swedish Technology Company ABB's research laboratory in Västerås. The thesis is based on the opinion that the scientific knowledge production has become commercialised and that the scientific communication is going through certain changes.

Studien baseras på kvalitativa, semistrukturerade intervjuer med representanter från nio företag i fyra olika branscher samt två fackförbund. Inhyrd personal används främst för att täcka ett flexibilitetsbehov, men även för kompetensförsörjning. Resultatet visar vilka faktorer som påverkar valet av att använda olika typer av inhyrd personal. The care for the elderly in the municipalities has recently seen the need for a formalized system for quality assurance. Under increasing demands for monetary efficiency while bound by law to retain acceptable standards in health care, there is need for efficient and at the same time quality-assured management. The municipalities often solve this puzzle by introducing systems and standards influenced by theory-clusters such as NPM (New Public Management), TQM (Total Quality Management) or other quality management theories.This essay focuses on how the public administration in the municipalities defines quality and designs and implements system for formalized quality assurance. Our basic view of organizations is institutionalist and our theoretical framework includes theories about quality, NPM and TQM..

The main purpose of this thesis is to examine upper secondary school teachers? views of their students? information seeking practices and their perspectives on consider the concept of information literary. The theoretical framework consists of a sociocultural perspective and the empirical material has been collected through interviews with six upper secondary school teachers. The material is analyzed phenomenographically and revealed three practices. Social science teachers consider the library and librarian to be valuable resources for students? information seeking, particularly in view of information overload in society today.

The purpose of this essay is to examine the importance of personal election for candidates of foreign background. I made this, first, by map and comparing the candidates of foreign background in the recent Swedish and Finnish parliamentary election. Second, I analyze what conceptions candidates of foreign background, who was nominated in the 2006 municipal election in Örebro, have about the personal election. The result from the first study shows that personal election had a negative impact on candidates of foreign background in both the Swedish and Finnish parliamentary elections. The result from the second study shows that candidates of foreign background have both positive and negative conceptions about the personal election.

Syfte: Redogöra för nya rekommendationer gällande goodwillredovisningen samt redogöra för hur dessa framtida rekommendationer uppfattas av ett antal revisorer och företag.Metod: Vi utgår ifrån en kvalitativ metod, vilken vi har valt för att få en djupare förståelse för ämnet. Uppsatsen bygger på information inhämtad vid intervjuer med redovisningskunniga och representanter för koncerner som berörs av förändringen i goodwillredovisningen. Övrig information har inhämtats från litteratur, lagar och rekommendationer samt publicerade artiklar. Resultatdiskussion: Huruvida förändringen är positiv eller negativ råder det delade meningar om bland respondenterna. Förändringen leder dock till att goodwillen bättre speglar ett företags förmåga att generera framtida merintäkter.

Uppsatsen syftar till att undersöka om det finns samband mellan mängden frivillig information i årsredovisningar och tio variabler. De tio variablerna utgörs av antal aktieägare, aktieomsättning på Stockholmsbörsen, antal börsnoteringar, antal år företaget har varit noterat på Stockholmsbörsen, antal anställda, omsättning, bransch, skuldsättningsgrad, räntabilitet på eget kapital och P/E-tal. Vi har genomfört en kvantitativ undersökning med ett deduktivt tillvägagångssätt. Utifrån de valda teorierna har vi bildat hypoteser avseende mängden frivillig information och de ovan beskrivna variablerna. Genom statistisk sambandsanalys har vi undersökt om våra antaganden var korrekta eller ej.

Vårt syfte är att skapa en djupare förståelse och klargöra för användningen avbegreppen management och ledarskap i praktiken. Med hjälp av begreppens innebörd kan vi som forskare få möjligheten att framföra hur begreppen används praktiskt. På så vis kan vi se om teorin reproduceras i praktiken. Vår uppsats visar att intervjupersonerna tror att de utövar ledarskap, men att det inte kan utövas i praktiken. Detta har sin grund i den tvetydighet som omger begreppet ledarskap och företagets organisationskontext.

The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the view on the personal encounter between staff and visitors in public libraries in order to detect possible differences between the two groups in order to see if the personal encounter as such could be used in order to market libraries. We believe that social competence must interact with the initial personal encounter in order for the visitor to experience the visit as positive. We have based the theoretical framework on Erving Goffman?s theory on social interaction, as well as on Christian Grönroos? theory on quality of service and marketing. We use the following questions: How do library staff view the personal encounter? How do library visitors view the personal encounter? How does the library staff?s treatment affect the visitor?s view of the library?Are there any differences in view between visitors and staff concerning the personal encounter? If so, what kind of differences are they? Using qualitative interviews, we have interviewed nine visitors and six staff members at two public libraries.

This study aims to research how digital media can be used for communication and information management between teachers at preschools and children?s homes. To get an understanding of this we have investigated which channels are being used and for what purposes. The interest has also been to explore preschool teachers and caregivers? attitudes towards digital communication in preschools.A qualitative case study of comparative nature has been conducted, where two preschools were selected because of their use and non-use of digital media for communication with caregivers.

Municipalities must establish budget annually but they are free to decide how the governance should be designed, this can lead to lack of consistency and measurability within and between municipalities. The purpose of this thesis was to present a proposal for a unified and more measurable financial structure of a municipality where this was lacking. In our theory we describe the issues of traditional management control and we introduce an alternative control with non-financial ratios included, called the Balanced Scorecard. In the empirical data it is investigated how the governance of a municipality could be designed, according to the respondents.
