Starch is a naturally occurring substance in most plants and is used as energy storage. It is a component that mainly consists of amylose and amylopectin. Together they build a complex pattern which gives starch its specific properties. The proportion of amylose and amylopectin varies in different plants but generally starch consists of 25 % amylose and 75 % amylopectin. There have been discoveries of barley varieties containing 100 % amylopectin called ?waxy starches? or ?waxy barley? as well as varieties that have a high content of amylose, around 70 % and these are called ?amylotypes?.

The primary function of a mixer is to keep a fluid in constant motion. All mixing applicationsrequire varying degrees of small-scale turbulence and bulk flow. The performance of asubmersible mixer is measured by the thrust that it produces, while the strength of the bulkflow is dependent on the total amount of installed thrust.In a mixer, the fluid quickly flows past the propeller, and as a result, the current is mainlyaxial. The fluid will also obtain a rotating velocity, or a swirl, though this is significantly lessthan that of the propeller. During the process, the total amount of energy increases in the formof static pressure and kinetic energy.

This report presents a master thesis project performed at Elekta AB during the fall of 2013 and early 2014. Elekta is a medical technology company and their main product in the Stockholm office is a gamma knife used for radiosurgery. The gamma knife contains a cluster of a dozen motor servos and motors used for adjusting the patient and the radiation sources over a CAN bus. A self-developed hardware-in-loop simulator running on a PC with LabVIEW is currently being used for integration level testing of the control system of the gamma knife. The simulator has some problems with it not running in real-time and having other performance issues.

This bachelorÂŽs thesis analyzes the video game Red Dead Redemption and the historical use of the environment and atmosphere in the game. The theory and method used is media research and social memory studies. Two questions were asked: how does Red Dead Redemeption convey and produce the historical environment and the historical atmosphere. Furthermore subqueries/criterias were used to help answer the main questions.The analysis was divided into two parts, the first part we analyze and discuss the games historical environment and the second part analyzes and discusses the historical atmosphere of the game.The conclusion is that both the historical environment and the historical atmosphere is present in the game through picture and sound, the text only works as a guide. The picture and sound live in a symbiotic relationship and depend on each other to fully immerse the player to the game.

This is a thesis for a Bachelor Degree Project, performed in the subject MechanicalEngineering. The students Roger Malmberg and Simon Hagberg have carried out adesign project on behalf of the recently established company J&D Assisting systems,located in Halmstad.The project consisted in developing J&D's first prototype of a power assisting solutionfor wheelchairs. A power assisted wheelchair combines human power, which is deliveredby the arms through the pushrims, with electrical motors, which are powered by a battery.The power assisted wheelchair is aimed at customers, who have used a regularwheelchair for a long time, but who have become weaker or just need additional powerwhen driving uphill. This kind of wheelchair will provide additional power for users,which will spare their wrists, elbow and shoulders. The product is torque sensor free andinstead it relies on the velocity.

The most common reason for a horse owner to seek veterinary care for their horse is related to the musculoskeletal system. Assessment of the horse's movement pattern is essential in the equine veterinary work. How uniformly veterinarians evaluate the lame horse may have both diagnostic and prognostic significance, such as follow up examination by the same or different veterinarian. The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether there are between-veterinarian differences in assessing lameness in the same horse. In total 12 veterinarians evaluated 80 video sequences of 4 horses with induced lameness and made an evaluation of the affected limb as well as the degree of lameness.

This bachelor thesis has as its aim to investigate theSwedish librarians? views and opinions about censorshipof their libraries' collections as well as buildinginformation about the context of challenges against thesame collections. Under det rÀttsliga efterspelet efter höstens kravaller i RosengÄrd framkom en videosekvens i vilken tvÄ polismÀn uttrycker sÄvÀl krÀnkande som rasistiska kommentarer om aktivisterna. Detta avslöjande ledde till att media började ifrÄgasÀtta hur allmÀnhetens tilltro till polisen ser ut, och hur det har pÄverkats av hÀndelserna i RosengÄrd.I denna rapport presenteras hur man inom polismyndigheterna i Stockholms lÀn och VÀstra Götalands lÀn valt att angripa problematiken kring allmÀnhetens förtroende för polisen.Den mest uppenbara skillnaden som vi kunnat konstatera Àr att man i Stockholms lÀn satsar pÄ en utbyggnad av sÄ kallade lokala postkontor, medan man i VÀstra Götalands lÀn valt att fokusera pÄ den enskilde polismannens synbarhet och nÀrvaro. Mass distribution with techniques as multicast and peer-to-peer are becoming increasingly important in the Internet. Today the distribution of sound and video over Internet, so called streaming media, is static due to the unicast method. This results in a linear increase of distribution costs and therefore no conditions for commercial scalability. This thesis describes why multicast may be the only scalable alternative for commercial mass distribution of streaming media over Internet. Mass distribution through peer-to-peer technology promises a lot but is fronting a couple of great challenges, for example asymmetric bandwidth, locality and legalization.

Under 1900-talets senare hÀlft har lönesÀttning via enskilda lönesamtal, sÄ kallad individuell lönesÀttning blivit den rÄdande lönebildningen i offentlig verksamhet. Tidigare utgick den offentliga sektorns lönebildning frÄn löneskalor och tarifflöner, sÄ kallad lönetrappa efter Älder och erfarenhet. Den offentliga sektorn kan anses vara en komplex organisation pÄ grund av dess krav pÄ demokrati, hushÄllande med samhÀllets resurser och tillÀmpande av offentlighetsprincipen. Dessa kan ha en pÄverkande effekt pÄ hur lönebildningen ser ut samt den individuella lönens funktion som belöningsincitament och styrmedel. Syftet med detta examensarbete var att genom en intervjustudie med fenomenografisk ansats undersöka vilka uppfattningar som fanns ute i den offentliga verksamheten kring den individuella lönen och dess effekter.

Voice over IP (VoIP) is a relatively new technology that enables voice calls over data networks.With VoIP it is possible to lower expenses, and increase functionality and flexibility. FromSwedish Armed Forces point of view, the security issue is of great importance, why the focus inthis report is on the security aspect of the two most common open-source VoIP-protocols H.323and SIP, some of the most common attacks, and counter-measures for those attacks.Because of the level of complexity with a network running H.323 or SIP, and the fact that it hasyet to stand the same level of trial as of traditional telephony, a VoIP-system includes manyknown security-issues, and probably at present many unknown security flaws.The conclusion is that it takes great knowledge and insight about a VoIP-network based onH.323 or SIP to make the network satisfyingly safe as it is today, and is therefore perhaps not asuitable solution for the Swedish Armed Forces today for their more sensitive communications..

Ditch cleaning is increasingly important in Swedish forestry. This study compare different concepts concerning machinery, namely two general-purpose excavators of different sizes, 8 tonnes and 15 tonnes, versus a dedicated machine constructed solely to deal with ditch-cleaning. The machines were tested on rough as well as on gentle terrain and on open terrain as well as in young stands in connection with thinning. The conclusions were that the excavators are more versatile and have greater capacity than the dedicated machine, while the latter excels in quality of work. Interestingly, there was no significant difference in performance between the both excavators..

In this thesis a number of energy saving methods for a multiplier on algorithmic level are investigated. For the investigation a multiplier is constructed in VHDL, after which the circuit's performance is investigated. A number of techniques for reduced power consumption are introduced in the circuit and are then evaluated. The conclusions are that all investigated methods, pipelining, interleaving and voltage scaling, should be maximally made use of in order to minimize the power consumption..

Syftet med studien Àr att undersöka hur lÀrare och elever pÄ musik- eller kulturskola kommunicerar med varandra i enskild undervisning med fiol som instrument. Med hjÀlp av videoobservation som metod har tre lÀrare och deras elever observerats. Studiens teoretiska utgÄngspunkter utgörs av ett designteoretiskt och multimodalt perspektiv.
