This study investigates how performance management in primary schools can facilitate learning, relating to theories of efficient schools. This is done through a qualitative study of the performance management systems in two public primary schools in Sweden. The schools selected were similar in all major aspects, except pupil grades, where there was a clear difference between the schools. The analysis revealed differences in how the schools handled the process of management by objectives, the professional development of teachers as well as routines, rules, and policies. We conclude that having a rooted process for management by objectives, professional development of teachers, and clearly formalized values, gives a school a good foundation to support a pupil's learning and development..

Jag följde under ett par mÄnader ett antal elever och studenter i ett projekt som pÄgick under hösten 2007. UtifrÄn en diskussion om dokumentation och maktutövning som bygger pÄ en Foucaultsk förstÄelse av makt- och diskursbegreppen tog jag fram en modell för pedagogisk dokumentation med video dÀr dokumentationens form och innehÄll bestÀmdes av den som blev dokumenterad: tvÄ av tio elever och tvÄ av fyra studenter fick i uppgift att spela in en minut videofilm om dagen som dokumentation av ett veckolÄngt projekt. Dessa filmer, samt observationer av arbetet under projektveckan, ligger till grund för en utvÀrdering av metoden, samt en analys av vilka maktstrategier som anvÀnts av aktörerna inom den diskurs projektet utgör. Metoden visade sig svÄr att förankra hos deltagarna och ansatsen att lÄta dem styra över materialet blev svÄrare att förverkliga Àn jag förestÀllt mig. För en bredare uppslutning i den avslutande gruppdiskussionen hade jag i efterhand velat engagera fler Àn fyra av deltagarna i dokumenterandet. I analysen av hur makt utövades mellan grupper i projektet fann jag att studenterna ofta anvÀnde vad som kan kallas för ett problemformuleringsprivilegium för att styra arbetet, och att de vid behov legitimerade det genom att lÄna in argument frÄn utanpÄliggande diskurser, frÀmst frÄn skolans vÀrld. Eleverna, som saknade problemformuleringsprivilegiet, svarade med att göra motstÄnd genom bland annat arbetsvÀgran..

In this paper, we examine the attitudes of 16- to 19-year olds towards stealth viral marketing in the form of videos posted on websites such as Youtube. Apart from their general attitudes towards the phenomenon, we were also concerned with their views on the ethics involved in this marketing method and how this affects their view on the companies behind the advertising. To accomplish this, we administered a survey to a sample chosen by convenience. Using the Persuasion Knowledge Model and prior research on the subject, we then analyzed the gathered data and reached the conclusion that the respondents in our sample were mainly positive towards stealth viral marketing in this particular form, that they generally did not consider it unethical and that even though most considered the companies to be responsible for such videos, teenagers were not likely to take negative actions against them if they found out that a video that they had seen was in fact a stealth viral video..

Human capital is professional service firms' most valuable resource and its quality is closely linked to the quality of its services. The purpose of this study is to investigate how professional service firms appraise their employees. A comparative study between an architecture firm and a management consulting firm is conducted with the aim to identify and explain similarities and differences in performance appraisal. Two qualitative case studies are performed and interviews as well as documents are used to explore the area. The thesis builds on a critical perspective and it has an explorative approach.

This thesis which is about working with mathematics teaching has no effect/impact on performance and understanding of pupils. The importance of human capital in firm valuation is something Huang and Wang points out in there paper from 2008. We expand Ohlson?s valuation model (1995) in line with Huang and Wang (2008) to enhance a market value that includes proxies for human capital. By using human capital based market value and one of Francis, Nanda and Olsson?s (2008) version of earnings quality, we create a value table which aim to sort for undervalued and overvalued companies during the  economic upswing of 2003 to 2007 in the human capital line of business.

The global market is becoming increasingly integrated and to keep up with growing competition and to achieve even greater success, companies expand to foreign markets. Previous studies have shown that the concept of psychic distance has an important impact on international performance regarding small and medium-sized enterprises (SME). The aim of our study is to provide the reader with a deeper understanding of how psychic distance influences export performance regarding Swedish SMEs. Through a single case study of a Swedish SME, we chose to research three different markets in three different continents. Our findings show that psychic distance influences export performance through export marketing strategy and active learning.
