This thesis applies to a novel steam expander, one part of a steam engine system, a wobble plateengine. The piston in the expander moves axially with the outgoing rotating shaft and is locatedon a plate, why the engine type is called axial engine. When steam is applied to the plungers theplate wobbles creating a rotation on the shaft going thru the wobble plate. The steam expander issupposed to be used in exhaust gas recovery (bottoming cycle) applications and small scaleenergy production. The commissioner is Ranotor Utveckling AB.

The new cataloging code Resource Description and Access (RDA) provides a system of instructions for recording relationships between related resources by means of a controlled vocabulary of relationship designators. The purpose of this two years master?s thesis in Archive, Library and Museum studies is to examine the construction of this system, as well as its theoretical foundation. One theoretical point of departure is the necessity of operational definitions for consistent identification of bibliographic relationships. The aim is to develop a new decision-making model for credit-loans. The model will be specific for credit applicants of the OKQ8 bank, becauseit is based on data of earlier applicants of credit from the client (the bank). The final model is, in effect, functional enough to use informationabout a new applicant as input, and predict the outcome to either the good risk group or the bad risk group based on the applicant?s properties.The prediction may then lay the foundation for the decision to grant or deny credit loan.Because of the skewed distribution in the response variable, different sampling techniques are evaluated. These include oversampling with SMOTE, random undersampling and pure oversampling in the form of scalar weighting of the minority class.

Bakgrund: Balanced Scorecard (BSC) har blivit ett populärt sätt att mäta ett företags prestationer, då det inkluderar både finansiella och ickefinansiella mål och mått. Samtidigt ses styrkortet som ett verktyg för att kommunicera företagets strategi och skapa en förståelse i hela organisationen för vad företaget vill uppnå. Trots att BSC är ett mycket framgångsrikt begrepp saknas det empiriska studier kring hur modellen upplevs och används av anställda på operativ nivå och hur styrningsverktyget påverkar dem.Syfte: Undersökningens syfte är att beskriva hur BSC används på operativ nivå i ett företag samt förklara hur strategi och målformulering uppfattas av individen och påverkar dennes beteende. Vidare är undersökningens syfte att utveckla en modell för att öka den operativa relevansen i BSC.Slutsats: För att uppnå de fördelar som BSC kan erbjuda krävs en förankring i hela organisationen samt ett engagemang och involvering i styrkortsprocessen från alla anställda. Vi anser att problemen med BSC som uppkommer många gånger kan härledas till svårigheter att tydliggöra och att koppla strategin och BSC till vad individen arbetar med i sin vardag.

The European Union is a 60 year long collaboration between the European countries. It was born from the intention to ease trade and thereby reassure peace. Within the 60 years EU has functioned it has developed and expanded further. In 1952 it evolved around the trade of coal and steel between six countries, today it includes 27 nations and oversees a large number of topics such as foreign affairs, a common currency and regional politics. EU has grown at several times, the latest expansion was the largest where 12 new countries became members. The unions of countries that only 60 years ago were at different sides of a world war can be considered an accomplishment.

När omvärlden och krigen förändras, kan då den ?traditionella? operationskonsten behållas? I denna uppsats appliceras operativa principer definierade ur den israeliska operationskonsten från tidigare krig på det Andra Libanonkriget 12 juli till den 14 aug 2006. Syftet är att beskriva och diskutera operationskonstens dynamik och förutsättningar. I teorin influeras operationskonsten av både strategi, taktik och teori men även av en mängd andra subjektiva och objektiva faktorer. Undersökningen lyfter fram att de traditionella israeliska operativa principerna användes i en varierande omfattning men först i avslutningen av kriget kan ett ?traditionellt? operativt koncept identifieras.

Uppsatsen jämför NATO:s respektive Sveriges operativa planeringsprocess och rekommenderar ett svenskt vägval för nationell metod. Inledningsvis motiveras den teoretiska analysmodellen bestående av militärteori, intuitiv beslutsfattning och Försvarsmaktsidé och målbild rapport 4. Därefter beskrivs och sortförvandlas planeringsprocesserna så att en likvärdig jämförelse kan genomföras. Analysen belyser skillnader och likheter, och redovisar styrkor och svagheter med planeringsprocesserna. Avslutningsvis diskuteras det val Sverige bör göra avseende nationell operativ planeringsprocess.

Uppsatsen är inriktad på den militära delen i upprorsbekämpning och tar sin utgångspunkt i två stycken militärteoretikers teorier inom ämnet. Teoretikerna är John Mackinlay och David Kilcullen, som under 2009 utkom med varsin ny bok inom området, The Insurgent Archipelago samt The Accidental Guerilla. Den metod som arbetet vilar på är kvalitativ textanalys. Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka i vilken utsträckning som teorin och doktrinerna stämmer överrens. Därför har först teoretikernas syn på hur en utifrån kommande intervenerande styrka påverkar lokalbefolkningen analyserats.

The purpose of this thesis is to find out the reasons and perhaps some answers to the problem as we see it, the sickness benefit expiration of those who experience this. By this said we have also taken into account the different laws and adjustments in the long-term sickness benefit, but also major reformation of the security net in the Swedish society. The efficiency of the law on passive long-term sickness absence was added in July 2008, but was later in January 2010 supplemented. The purpose of this law wasn?t only to reduce the long-term sickness absence but also to reduce exclusion.

The  change that has occurred during the past few decades concerning the development of electronic records, information technology and the constantly increasing quantity of information, have confronted the archival discipline with new challenges. In the digital world, the concept of ?record? has changed from representing something lasting and physical to something much more abstract and transient. The way to approach archival description has also changed, from focusing on the static preservation of archival records, to documenting the transactions of organisations, and to clarify operational processes. The discussion about the general purpose of the archival discipline, and its place in a changing world, has led to a new approach to archival description.

The company System Andersson is developing systems for controlling materials and production in industries. They want to add a new service, where parts of those systems are accessible through cell phones.In this paper we are investigating which technology are best suited for this kind of application. And then we describe how we are developing a prototype fort this application, based upon that technology. After investigating technologies such as Java ME, Microsoft Silverlight, and web applications we settled upon building the system as a web application, customized for a mobile environment.To build a web page which is readable by many different cell phones we use the markup-languages which are developed for cell phones. We put much effort in reading about the standards and recommendations for the mobile web, produced by the organizations W3C and OMA.

Kremering är idag det vanligaste jordfästningssättet i Sverige, de allra flesta som avlider kremeras och gravsätts i urna. Frågan om hur de metaller som finns i kroppen men inte får plats i urnan hanteras har hittills inte väckt så stor uppmärksamhet, speciellt inte ur miljösynpunkt. Dock handlar det om åtskilliga ton metall som varje år grävs ner på kyrkogårdar runt om i landet. Denna metall påverkar dels miljön negativt, dels kommer det att ta upp mer och mer plats på kyrkogårdarna i framtiden, och att gräva ner metaller imarken är inte ett miljöoptimerat sätt att hantera dessa. Det finns dock andra saker än bara miljön att ta hänsyn till i denna fråga.

Finns det idag en sam- och helhetssyn avseende operativ förmåga mellan den politiska nivån ochFörsvarsmakten i Sverige? En syn där de operativa förmågorna fokuserar på att nå en gemensamönskad effekt istället för enskilda försvarsgrenar, förmågor eller i värsta fall förbands enskildautveckling? Uppsatsens syfte är att undersöka, med stöd av implementeringsteorin, spårbarhetenav Regeringens direktiv avseende operativ förmåga i Försvarsmakten. Utgångspunkten tas i Försvarsmaktensvision och de doktriner som försvarsmaktsledningen utgivit för att styra organisationenunder perioden 2001?2004, samt i intervjuer med militära representanter.Några delar som framkommer i uppsatsen är att direktiven från Regeringen återfinns i samtligatexter hos Försvarsmakten. Dock talas det inte så mycket om huvuduppgifterna under intervjuernautan mer om framtiden och hur fel det är att numera ha väpnad strid, som enda uppgift.

Simulations of simulink models using Kalman filters are often very time-consuming. This problem depends mainly on the fact that the Kalman correction has to be performed at each sample instance through the whole simulation. The goal for this thesis work is to reduce that time-consumption for the filtering part (the integration partis treated in a complementary report) of a simulation. Furthermore a Matlab routine to perform parameter tuning and finally a graphical user interface is developed.The filtering part of the simulation in this thesis is based on an Extended Kalman Filter (EKF). The time optimization of this filter considers searching for the possibility to replace the today?s existing Matlab functions that is used to perform the filtering calculations.

Since the 1990?s the Swedish school system has undergone major and recurring structural reforms. Two of the most comprehensive changes has been the shift of primary schools as an integral part of the welfare state to the responsibility of the municipalities as well as the introduction of free school choice for the students. Through two months of participant observations and semi-structured interviews this thesis seeks to answer the question of how these reforms has come to effect the work of teachers in a medium sized public school in a small municipality in the outskirts of Stockholm. Earlier research has shown that public schools in socio-economically vulnerable areas are disadvantaged due to the reformation of the school system (Beach & Sernhede, 2011; Östh, Andersson, & Malmberg, 2013).
