Given the similar clinical picture of liver cancer surgery, it is possible that supplementation of BCAA can be beneficial for these patients as well.ObjectiveThe aim was to study the scientific basis for the effect of branched chain amino acid (BCAA) supplementation in liver cancer patients. Can it improve their recovery in terms of nutritional status and albumin levels, and does it changes the duration of hospital stay, after surgery?Search strategyFive extensive searches were performed on PubMed and Cochrane after appropriate study material.

Handling of animals during anaesthesia is an important field in the profession as a veterinary nurse and in which intubation is an essential part. Hence, adequate knowledge is necessary for the welfare of the animal. The objective of this literature study was to make it useful and trustworthy for veterinary nurses. It is intended to describe and summarize existing scientificity with its benefits and disadvantages within the different areas of intubation techniques and alternative methods of inhalation anaesthetic supplementation for general anaesthesia in rabbits. Endotracheal intubation in rabbits can be complicated and technically demanding due to the anatomy of the oropharynx including the narrowness of this structure, a relatively large tongue, large incisors and a limited mobility of the temperomandibular joint. The obstructed visualization of larynx and the rabbit?s tendency to develop laryngospasm contributes to the difficulty of intubation. Rabbits are susceptible to tracheal injury and multiple intubation attempts can cause tracheal lesions due to repeated damage to the tracheal mucous membrane, although damage can occur after a single intubation attempt as well. An ETT (endotracheal tube) with or without a cuff can be used during orotracheal intubation in rabbits.

Obsterisk plexus brachialisskada (OBPP) är en nervskada som kan uppkomma vid vaginal förlossning. OBPP kan ge neurologisk funktionsnedsättning med varierad svårighetsgrad. Konsekvenserna för barn med OBPP är framförallt funktionsnedsättningar i axel, arm, hand och fingrar men även ögats nerver kan skadas. Den största riskfaktorn för OBPP är klinisk handläggning av skulderdystoci. Skulderdystoci är en svår komplikation som uppstår då barnets axlar fastnat i kvinnans bäcken i samband med förlossningens slutskede.

ABSTRAKTSyfte och mål: Att jämföra olika tekniker vid trakeal intubering av obesa patienter. Bakgrund: Fetma blir vanligare och behovet av kunskap inom vården ökar för att på ett säkert sätt ta hand om dessa patientgrupper. Anestesisjuksköterskan ska kunna hantera, prioritera och ta snabba beslut vid akuta tillstånd och förebygga komplikationer som kan uppstå. Kunskap och beredskap inför akuta situationer är av stor vikt för att hantera den svåra luftvägen och kunna ge en god och säker omvårdnad genom anestesin.                                                                   Design: En litteraturstudie med kvantitativ ansats genomfördes.

SAMMANFATTNINGTrakeotomi är ett operativt ingrepp och innebär att man gör ett strupsnitt på halsens framsidaför att skapa fri luftväg. Denna öppning, trakeostoma, som skapats på halsen hålls öppen aven trakealkanyl. Trakealkanylen sitter i luftstrupen och skapar patientens artificiellaandningsväg. Trakeostomi är ett ingrepp som ökar i Sverige och görs när sjukdomar ellerskador i luftvägarna eller i centrala nervsystemet försämrar eller hindrar patienten från attandas genom näsan och munnen. Ingreppet genomförs också på patienter som behöverlångvarig respiratorbehandling.

Lambs that are born healthy and vital have greaterconditions to perform high lamb weight gains and thus a successful production. Thereare many factors affect the survival, birth weight and early weight gain of the new bornlamb.

The purpose of this retrospective study was to investigate the prescription of antibiotics to dogs at the small animal clinic at Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire, Nantes, France. The purpose was also to compare the possible prescription patterns in France with those seen in a similar study by Petersson (2003) at the small animal clinic at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Uppsala. Antibiotics are very important in veterinary medicine and are used both to treat infections and to prevent them. The use of antibiotics however is not without complications and the risk of developing antimicrobial resistance is of most concern. Resistance has been shown to exist against all currently known antibiotics and potentially all pathogenic bacteria could develop resistance to one or more antibiotics. This study analysed the case records for all dogs presented to the small animal clinic at Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire, Nantes, France during October 2001 and March 2002 to identify patients which were treated with systemic antibiotics. For these cases the antibiotic used, classified according to the ATCvet system, and the indication for use was noted. A total of 292 cases (146 per month) resulted in administration of systemic antibiotics.

This work is a literature review along with interviews from nine suckler herds. How to reducecalf mortality in the cow herd is the focus of this paper. To get profitability of a herd, it isimportant that you get a live calf per cow and year. Good fertility of the cows thus is veryimportant. During the years 2007 - 2008, approximately 5.5% of all calves born by beef cowsdied and about 8.5% of the calves born by heifers died.

SAMMANFATTNINGFör att möjliggöra öppen hjärtkirurgi används hjärt-lungmaskin som leder blodet i en bana utanför kroppen sammankopplat med kroppscirkulationen. Möjliga komplikationer efter kirurgi med stöd av hjärt-lungmaskin kommer från det centrala nervsystemet och kan ge upphov till kognitiva symtom, dessa komplikationer har ökat sedan 70-talet. Kognitiva nedsättningar kan påverka både patientens livskvalitet och sjukvårdens ekonomi. Risker med att opereras med stöd av hjärt-lungmaskin är embolier, hypoperfusion, anestesi och inflammation. Detaljerad information till patienter som ska genomgå hjärtkirurgi gör dem mer förberedda på eventuella komplikationer.

Bakgrund: Typ 1 diabetes (T1D) och graviditet är en kombination förknippad med risker hos mor och barn ochdet är av största betydelse att hålla blodsockret inom normala nivåer för den gravida kvinnan. Kvantitativastudier visar att kvinnor med T1D har en hög grad av ångest, depression och negativa tankar under graviditet.För att på ett djupare plan bättre förstå upplevelser under graviditet hos kvinnor med T1D krävs kvalitativastudier. Syfte: Syftet är att genom en metasyntes analysera och integrera resultat från kvalitativ forskning kringupplevelser under graviditet hos kvinnor med typ 1 diabetes (T1D). Metod: En metasyntes baserad på dentolkande metaetnografin genomfördes. Sökningar utfördes i databaserna Cinahl och PubMed.

Stormwater is surface runoff water that originates from precipitation or snowmelt and that on hardened surfaces prevents to infiltrate the ground. In city areas stormwater can consists of major amounts pollutants and when reaching a lake or watercourse it can cause damages on vegetation and animals. Therefore it is important to treat polluted stormwater before it reaches the recipient. The municipality of Örebro have since the 90ies an extensive work with treatment of stormwater in sedimentation ponds. A new stormwater treatment project is planned in an industrial estate in Skebäck, Örebro.

Den här studien behandlar fenomenet sociala medier med inriktning på att öka trafik till detaljhandelns webbaserade sidor för att skapa relationer, bygga varumärke och öka försäljning.Idag står företag inför en ny utmaning när det gäller marknadsföring. På några få år har internethandeln exploderat och med det företagens sätt att marknadsföra sig virtuellt. Sedan början av 2000-talet har en ny kanal för att sända ut marknadsföringsmässiga budskap till kunderna uppstått, de sociala medierna. Ett exempel på en av dessa är Facebook vars användarantal bara stiger år för år och i dagsläget har fler än 6 av 10 svenskar en personprofil på Facebook.Varje kanal för kommunikation har sina egenskaper och med det givna referensramar för företagen att arbeta med och skapa verktyg för. Då sociala medier fortfarande är ett ganska nytt fenomen anser vi att problematiken ligger i att många företag inte har hittat det ultimata användningssättet för kanalen.
