The audience and their use of the media have changed where available range has expanded while the size of the audience has remained the same. For media companies this implies a fight for the audience, where the right approach is vital for keeping as well as attracting new customers. Public service is an issue under current debate and its future role in the media industry has been brought into question. This survey investigates the roll of public service in Scandinavia in a new and changing media industry and how they should act to be important for their audience.

This bachelor?s thesis examines the ideas behind the phenomenon art exhibitions in public libraries. My interest is to see if and how the art exhibitions can support the libraries in being a public sphere in Jürgen Habermas? sense, open for all citizens and their opinions. My study therefore has two purposes.

This masters thesis aims at a discussion about whether the public library will be an educating and cultivating society institution in the future. The method used is a combination of interviews with library staff in leading position and studies of the public librarys relationship to cultivation and adult education in a changeable society. The work concentrates on two main questions. One is about what, and in which way, changes, that are important for the public library and that take place in society now or within the next ten years, affect the future activities of the library. The other is about the public librarys relationship to cultivation in general and in the future.

The purpose of this bachelor thesis is to examine the methods public libraries can use in order to market youth services. It is also a chance to evaluate an untested marketing model adapted to public libraries. Young people are one of the most difficult groups to attract to the library and thus librarians need adequate methods to deal with this problem. We have interviewed librarians, carried out observations and examined documents in accordance to the triangulation method. Before one can begin marketing the libraries one ought to know of how marketing is done and the principles behind it, therefore we have given a simple explanation of marketing and marketing theory.

The decisions for investment are forward-looking and the base of a long-term strategy. The research within investment have focused on diverse formulas which are used in financial assessment, which also should be complemented with qualitative evaluation. Consequently, the focus should not only be on the execution of the formulas. Less time have been spent on research concerning what actually initiates the investment proposals and affects the decision-making. This will be highlighted in this essay.

The objective of this master thesis was to study the relation between public green open space and health among adolescents in Uppsala municipality, Sweden. The aim of the study was to investigate if there is an association between the access to green open space in the living environment and adolescent´s health, in terms of fysical activity, self- reported health and overweight. The public health questionnaire ?Liv och Hälsa Ung 2009? provided data together with a map over public green space, where the measure taken into account is the proportion of public green space in the living environment. The study includes 3423 adolescents, 12-19 years old.

Att arbeta som enhetschef inom offentlig organisation kräver ett förhållningssätt som tar hänsyn till överordnade chefer, politiker och förvaltningschefer. Samtidigt är det viktigt att hänsyn tas till underställda medarbetare, klienter och anhöriga. Uppsatsen syftar till att undersöka mellanchefers upplevelser av arbetssituationen och få förståelse för hur de hanterar kraven som kommer från överordnade chefer och underställda medarbetare, om det innebär en lojalitetskonflikt och hur de positionerar sin lojalitet. Uppsatsen är kvalitativ till sin karaktär med intervjuer utförda med enhetschefer för att ge dem möjlighet att belysa sin arbetssituation. För att få en teoretisk bakgrund till arbetet har tidigare forskning inom området använts som New Public Management, Karasek och Theorells krav-, kontroll och stöd modell samt Webers teorier om byråkrati och rationalitet.

Uppsatsen ser ett problem i dagens svenska elitfotboll och frågar sig ur ett organisationsteoretiskt perspektiv vilka organisatoriska utmaningar svensk elitfotboll står inför. Uppsatsen bygger på en kvalitativ metod med djupintervjuer där framstående personer med olika bakgrund inom den svenska elitfotbollen ger sin syn på svensk fotbolls problem och utmaningar ur ett organisatoriskt perspektiv. New guidelines and laws were set to try and improve the quality of the auditing business while trying to restore stained reputation. Background: It is today common for companies to provide some sort of incentive for CEO's and senior management positions to motivate, retain and benefit employees within a company. This is in order to drive the goals of the CEO and management in the direction that is desired by the owner. Currently, the Swedish centre-right government has forbidden the use of such variable pay within state-owned companies. There are two different attitudes to variable pay, one that is in favour and one that rejects it. However most people agree on the fact that a well-functioning incentive scheme can be of great strategic importance for a company.Approach: has variable pay to CEO's had any effect on the company's profitability.Aim: the aim of the study is to compare companies who use variable pay to CEO's with companies that do not in relation to their profitability in terms of profit margins, yearly performance, returns on total capital and returns on equity.Method: the study uses a quantitative approach.

Denna uppsats avser att, utifrån en samhällsvetenskaplig variant av hypotetisk-deduktiv metod, kritiskt diskutera en mer omfattande kunskapsstyrning av socialtjänsten samt implementeringen av en evidensbaserad praktik inom socialt arbete. Uppsatsen diskuterar den evidensbaserade praktikens värdegrunder paralellt med de centrala utgångspunkterna inom de nyliberala förändringar som kommit att prägla den offentliga sektorn under de senaste tre årtiondena och går under parollen New Public Management. Vidare avhandlas den utökade kunskapsstyrningen och den evidensbaserade praktikens påverkan på både kommun, socialtjänst och den enskilde handläggaren och brukaren. Den enskilde handläggarens handlingsutrymme och autonomi avhandlas utifrån teorier om gräsrotsbyråkratens möjlighet att påverka den förda politiken. Resultatet visar att det finns tydliga kopplingar mellan den evidensbaserade praktiken och förhållningssätt och synsätt som inrymmer New Public Management.

The purpose of this paper is to view Karlstad Municipality and their financial support to non-profit organizations within equestrian sports. Despite the varying representatives of various equestrian sports in Karlstad, there seems to be a single beneficiary within the sport when it comes to financial support from the municipality. The policies and plans concerning cultural development are directly compared to the Karlstad Municipality and its contribution to these organizations within equestrian sports. Through interviews and reports I have studied the process of financial support from the Karlstad municipality using an intersectionality theory based on Nina Lykkes guide on gender studies and feminist theory. Pierre Bourdieu?s theories on field, habitus and capital are also used as a method to enhance the understanding of equestrian sports and its role in modern Swedish society. The conclusion is that the Karlstad Municipality is, for a several of reasons, promoting non-profit organizations within equestrian sports, which are operating as riding schools.

SummaryBackground: Management control is important for all kinds of activities, both in trade and industry and in the public sector since you must economize on scarce resources. There are nevertheless many different views on management control, which have changed with the times. With regard to the public sector in Sweden, the management control systems have changed radically the last half century, especially from the 1980s, due to depressions and increased focus on effectiveness. New approaches have been taken by many municipalities and county councils, both in Sweden and internationally, where the former management control systems have been abandoned in favour of result control, target costing, and activity-based-costing, for example. Another new approach has been the Balanced Scorecard, which was introduced by Kaplan & Norton in a pioneering article in 1992.The Balanced scorecard is a multidimensional tool, originally intended to be used in trade and industry, but with regard to its nature, it has been adopted even by many non-commercial organizations, especially in Sweden.

I denna studie undersöker vi om det förekommer earnings management i resultathöjande syfte bland svenska börsnoterade företag vid tiden av en nyemission. Studier om earnings management vid nyemissioner har gjorts förut av exempelvis av (Shivakumar, 2000). Han kommer fram till att earnings management förekommer tiden precis innan en nyemission. Vi hittar dock ingen studie utförd på svenska företag, vilket vi vill undersöka närmare.
