This paper aims to investigate how Helsingborg?s city library?s visi-tors feel about computer games being available for lending and in which way computer gamers see Helsingborg?s city library as a resource. This was examined first with a study of 100 of the library?s visitors and then with five interviews with computer gamers and an interview with the librarian responsible for purchasing games.The study showed that most visitors were Neutral to having games at the library and of the ones that were not Neutral many more were positive than negative. Of the five gamers who were inter-viewed, there were several who had borrowed games in the past.

The aim of this study is to examine the media coverage of gender-Neutral marriage from an intersectional perspective ? with particular regard to gender, sexual orientation and religion. By focusing on the spokespeople who appears in the articles we have made an attempt to answer questions regarding who was heard in the debate on gender-Neutral marriage and how the homosexual couples are portrayed in relation to the above criteria.The collected material consists of 89 articles, published in 2009, in Swedish newspapers which have been analysed by using quantitative content analysis. Ten articles have also been selected for a critical discourse analysis based on Norman Fairclough?s approach.

Syftet med föreliggande studie är att testa om det finns en skillnadmellan säkerhet och korrekthet vid observation av en emotionell ochen Neutral händelse. Ett annat syfte var att se om säkerhetenpåverkades positivt av bra minnesprestation. Ett experiment utfördesmed ett urval på 43 studenter där undersökningsdeltagarna fick se ettfilmklipp med antingen emotionellt eller Neutralt innehåll, därefterintervjuades de angående innehållet i filmklippet och slutligen ombadsde att skatta säkerheten av varje påstående. Resultaten visade attsäkerheten vid korrekta svar var signifikant högre än vid felaktigasvar. Skillnad i säkerhet mellan emotionell och Neutral observation varicke-signifikant och kunde antas bero på ett otillräckligt emotionelltinnehåll i filmklippet, eller den trygga experimentmiljön.

This thesis highlights the complex relationship between social movements and the mass media. The new social movements really have to struggle to get access to the media sphere, often enforced to use spectacular media strategies, and at the same time maintain their political messages. This struggle gives us reason to question the liberal notion of the media as a Neutral arena for political communication and debate. In fact we argue that the media industry should be seen as a powerful actor and that the mass media serves to maintain and enforce an ideology that serves the political and economic elites in the liberal capitalist democracy. The Social movements that seek to question these elites and present an alternative, as they did during the EU-meeting in Gothenburg 2001, quite clearly gets far from Neutral media image of the political actions taking place instead the are portrayed as violent or associated with violence and not presented as legitimate or believable political subjects..

The purpose of this study is to investigate how male and female is produced in the literary children?s literature that is found in a Municipal preschool. My issues are the following:Which sex dominates as a main character in the preschools literary books?What type of properties is attributed to the characters?What type of clothes is portrayed on the books characters?I performed a quantitative study of 136 children?s books. I used Maria Nikolajevas perceptions of stereotypical male and female properties to analyze my empirical data.

In this study I investigated whether the strength in the manual response for emotional and Neutral stimulus search arrays can explain some of the difference in reaction times (RT:s) for emotional stimuli, or not. Earlier, perceptual, cognitive and attentional processes has mostly been used to explain the variance in RT:s. Thirtythree individuals were asked to, as fast as possible, detect a target picture among distractor pictures in 3 rows x 4 columns arranged search arrays. The pictures were categorized in fear relevant animals (snake, spider) and Neutral animals (cat). The results showed, more correct responses for cat target.

The present study tested the prediction that male offenders are judged more harsly than female offenders for involving in a violent crime. Three-hundred and fifty-four adult students (163 men, 190 women, 1 unspecified gender) evaluated a hypothetical crimescenario describing a violent conflict between two parties, as part of a 2 (Informants Gender: Male/Female) x 3 (Offender Gender Triad: Male/Female/Neutral) x 3 (Victim Gender Triad: Male/Female/Neutral) between-subjects design. In situations involving male offenders, compared to female offenders, the informants judged the male offenders more harshly which exposed a double standard, as we expected. Informants also believed that it was more likely that a male offender was a recidivist..

Syftet med uppsatsen var att undersöka huruvida den riskjusterade avkastningen från en traditionellt förvaltad lång indexportfölj kunde ha varit högre om portföljen hade förvaltats enligt en Equity Market Neutral-strategi. Vidare ämnar undersökningen att testa huruvida de skapade portföljerna uppvisar låg korrelation, dvs marknadsNeutralitet, med underliggande marknad som är förenligt med strategin. För detta ändamål används Svenska Handelsbankens Månatliga Modellportfölj mellan åren 1998-2003. Vidare är syftet att utifrån analysen av undersökningens resultat kunna dra slutsatser om det kan finnas information i traditionella långa indexportföljer, liknande Handelsbankens Modellportfölj, som kan öka den riskjusterade avkastningen men som inte utnyttjas och som skulle kunna tas till vara via implementeringen av en Equity Market Neutral strategi. Undersökningen visade att portföljerna uppvisade såväl högre absolut- som riskjusterad avkastning jämfört med modellportföljen, och låg korrelationen gentemot marknaden sett över hela den undersökta perioden.

This paper describes the process of building a machine translation lexicon for use in the train and transport domain with the machine translation system MATS. The lexicon will consist of a Swedish part, an English part and links between them and is derived from a Tradostranslation memory which is split into a training(90%) part and a testing(10%) part. The task is carried out mainly by using existing word linking software and recycling previous machine translation lexicons from other domains. In order to do this, a method is developed where focus lies on automation by means of both existing and self developed software, in combination with manual interaction. The domain specific lexicon is then extended with a domain Neutral core lexicon and a less domain Neutral general lexicon.

I Sverige uppfyller medierna demokratiska uppgifter i syfte att värna om den lagstadgade fria åsiktsbildningen. Medierna ska granska inflytelserika aktörer och deras innehåll ska presentera olika åsikter mellan vilka allmänheten självständigt ska kunna ta ställning. I uppsatsens undersöks hur Dagens Nyheter, Göteborgs-Posten och Sydsvenskan hanterade kravet på opartiskhet i förhållande till respektive dagstidnings nyhetsförmedling inför riksdagsvalen 2006 och 2010. Tidigare forskning visar på att Alliansen gynnades i valrapporteringen inför såväl riksdagsvalet 2006 som 2010.För att göra kravet på opartiskhet mätbart tar jag hjälp av Jörgen Westerståhls tankegods som formulerar två krav vilka ska uppfyllas för att medierna ska anses förmedla opartiska nyheter. För det första ska en nyhet vara balanserat återgiven och för det andra måste rapporteringen förhålla sig Neutral.Resultatet visade att journalistiken i större utsträckning uppfyllde kravet på Neutral representation än balanskravet.
