Denna rapport beskriver arbetet med en utökning av ett dialogsystem till en UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, obemannad flygande farkost). Arbetet är utfört i WITAS-projektet (Wallenberg laboratory for research on Information Technology and Autonomous Systems), ett projekt som har som mål att utveckla en helikopter som ska kunna verka autonomt i t.ex. en trafikmiljö. Syftet med dialogsystemet är att en operatör med talspråk ska kunna ge kommandon till och få information från helikoptern. Detta examensarbete har som mål att utöka dialogen till att bli multimodal, dvs.

The purpose of this master?s thesis is to examine how comics, here defined as a combination of text and images, are handled by the libraries in regards to subject analysis, classification and indexing. A comparative approach has been used in this study. First, common practices, methods and theories concerning subject analysis developed for documents consisting of text or images are presented. Then the current systems at two special libraries, specializing in comics and consequently dealing with both text and images, are examined and related to the above mentioned practices, in order to discover differences and similarities.

The purpose of this essay is, using discourse analysis, to define how the Swedish society sees sexuality and how this is conveyed to young people. The questions at issue are; How is the term sexuality defined and delimited? How are the young people described in relation to sexuality? Are young people ascribed to different needs and qualities in relation to sexuality depending on their gender?There is previously a lot of research with great multitude about the sexuality of the youth. The research methods vary but text analysis within the subject area is unusual. The material used in this discourse analysis have been published by normative public institutions.

Denna studiesyftar till att undersöka typer av relationer mellan modaliteterna skrift och bild som tillsammans bildar en text. Centrala begrepp så som multimodalitet, literacy och det vidgade textbegreppet behandlasi teoridelen och återkopplas till i diskussionen. Metoden som valts är en innehållsanalys av text med Unsworths (2006) analysverktyg som utgångspunkt. Femläromedel har analyserats varav två storböcker, två lillböcker och en läsebok. I ett första skede har typer av relationer undersökts i de olika läromedlen och därefter har en jämförande analys gjorts för att undersöka eventuellaskillnader, i linjemedsyftet.

Studiens syfte var att utifrån ett designteoretiskt multimodalt perspektiv belysa relationen mellan å ena sidan, den kommunikativa praktiken under en skolvisning av en museiutställning och å andra sidan elevers möjligheter till deltagande och lärande. I studien användes multimodal metod för konstruktion av data; deltagande observation med fotografi, självrapportering med bilder och fokusgruppintervju. 20 elever ur en åk 5 klass deltog i studien. I resultat och studiens slutsatser framkom det att den museipedagogiska visningen av utställningen gestaltades som en multimodal konfiguration där eleverna var deltagare i produktionen av utställningen. De bildrepresentationer som elever skapade var alla olika och unika i både form och innehåll (mening).

This bachelor thesis consists of an analysis of museum environment. In the research, case studies have been done at the, Stockholm based museums, Swedish museum of Natural history?s exhibition Natur i Sverige (Nature in Sweden) and the Nordiska museet?s (Nordic history) exhibition Modemakt (Power of fashion) and learning environment Lekstugan (playhouse). The purpose of the research was to study how cultural heritage is used and developed within the museum pedagogy aimed at children. The research is based on a multimodal approach with focus on learning resources.The research examines the museums focus on children and youngsters, what the goals for this focus looks like on respective museum and how the focus is visible in the actual museums.

 This study examines the way Swedish students in Upper Secondary School respond to two excerpts from a classic Swedish novel. The paper?s aim is both to give an overview over some of the theoretical concepts concerning the field of reader-response criticism, and to describe and analyse what the students experience in their first meeting with an older text. The background to my interest is the many studies showing that young readers regard reading of fiction in school as boring. By using the method of written reading responses I want to contribute to a deeper understanding of how an older text can be received, understood and engage its readers.

This report describes the work process to an interactive movie addressed to children with neurodevelopmental disabilities, where Jippieserien is the client. The aim is to explore how multimodal media can convey Jippieseriens message to children with neurodevelopmental disabilities and their parents, by taking the users needs into account.It is important to focus on the people who will use the system when designing interactive systems. This project is therefore using the designprocess human-centered design for interactive systems. The process includes four basic elements and provides guidelines for user-centered design. These parts are analysis, prototyping, implementation, and evaluation (Johansson.

The purpose of this paper is to compare the content and political message in the election posters of the political parties Sverigedemokraterna and Feministiskt Initiativ. This is achieved through a qualitative content analysis combined with text and rhetorical analysis as well as semiotics. Out of all the election posters from Sverigedemokraterna and Feministiskt Initiativ with national spread, eight were analyzed. The conclusions of this analysis are that both political parties prefer posters with high text content with the main purpose of gathering votes, and that persons were used as motives with the objective to present the party representatives and strengthen their perceived ethos..

Uppsatsen syftar till att lyfta fram bilderboksillustratören som konstnär och framförallt peka på Sven Nordqvists stil. Detta görs genom tre olika analyser. Först en ikonotextuell analys där text-och bildsamspelet undersöksi Nordqvists böcker.En bildanalays försöker utröna speciella stildrag i böckernas illustrationer och ytterligare en analys försöker se sambandet mellan omslag, försättsblad, titelsida och själva berättelsen..

Föreliggande arbete inriktar sig på kommunikation mellan sångare och medmusiker i ensemblesammanhang utifrån det multimodala och designteoretiska perspektivets syn på kommunikation och lärandeförutsättningar. Med hjälp av videoobservationer av min egen kommunikation i en ensemble på högskolenivå har jag analyserat fram vilka olika semiotiska resurser som används samt intentionerna bakom dem. Resultatet visar att kommunikationen ensemblemedlemmarna emellan tillkommer först efter en tid in i lärandeprocessen och att det, för egen del, är sången som verkar som den främsta kommunikatören i det här sammanhanget.  Dynamik, tydlighet och lekfullhet skvallrar om säkerhet eller osäkerhet i form och melodi samt fungerar som en vägledning om var jag befinner mig i lärandeprocessen. I diskussionen tar jag bland annat upp hur den första ensemblelektionen byggs upp i enighet med det multimodala perspektivets syn på bra lärandeförutsättningar samt vad kroppsspråk har för betydelse för kommunikation i ensemblesammanhang. .

The aim of the study was to examine how Swedish tabloid journalism presented the contestants in the Swedish version of the reality show Idol 2009. We wanted to see which approaches tabloid news papers use when constructing the public identities of them. We have used text analysis to examine 37 articles and nine front pages with focus on the words, propositions, comparisons and parables that describe four of the contestants. In addition we have looked at myths and connotations shown in the pictures by using a semiotic analysis. The results show that the Swedish tabloids tend to describe the contestants in relation to their performances and personalities.

The research of the essay will be about Solidarity, the Polish trade union that began to rise in the beginning of 1980. In more specific tendencies to the empirical study, it is interesting getting to know about when the free trade union was created with a view to liberate the Polish people from Communism.The essay will be studied as an empirical case study, with a qualitative text analysis. The content will also include how power is allocated to the political, economic and social aspects of the national, and international relations. Therefore it will be relevant to use a method of ideology analysis to the qualitative text.The result of the theoretical analysis was that it is difficult to apply the social movements into a political change, even if it leads to success. According to this, participants in social movements are able to use the most potential and most necessities of resources, just as activists tend to do in reality..

The purpose of this investigation is to examine the extent to which Swedish compulsory school tends to rely upon, and to further reinforce, ideologies that from a theoretical platform of deep ecology can be identified as ?ecologically unsustainable conceptions of reality?. Mainly, this will purport to an examination of the (explicit as well as implicit) prevalence of anthropocenthrism, individualism, ethnocenthrism and rationalism in a) the Swedish National Curriculum; and in b) biology text books. Methodologically, the study makes use of Fairclough´s approach to, and method for, critical discourse analysis (CDA). The main results are that the National Curriculum indeed expresses a high level of individualism, as well as (although to a lesser extent) traces of rationalism and ethnocenthrism.

Bakgrunden till min studie kommer ursprungligen från mitt eget intresse att diskutera ämnesintegrerad undervisnings betydelse i skola och samhälle.Syftet med föreliggande studie är att utifrån ett multimodalt perspektiv ta reda på hur en musiklärare och en specialpedagog i matematik samarbetar för att integrera matematik och musik i sin undervisning i årskurs 1-3. Jag har använt mig av observationer och samtal för att ta reda på hur de arbetar, vilka redskap de använder sig av samt varför de arbetar som de gör.    Den undervisning jag har observerat kallas mattemusik och är en utarbetad metod för ämnesintegrerat lärande. I resultatet visas att det är läroplanens mål och kunskapskrav i matematik och musik som styr undervisningen och att de två lärarna anser att det sätt som undervisningen bedrivs på även uppfyller många sociala mål som till exempel samarbetsförmåga, hänsynstagande och turtagning. Lektionerna i mattemusik utgick från ett tema och sedan arbetade lärarna tillsammans med eleverna mot den nya kunskapen ifrån många olika håll och med flera sinnen involverade. Undervisningen var i många avseenden multimodal då även momenten under lektionerna i sig själva var det.    Det jag tar upp i diskussionen är bland annat avsaknaden av det taktila sinnet som inte fanns representerat i lika stor utsträckning som de visuella, auditiva och kinestetiska sinnena..
