Det är vår förbannade skyldighet! : En kvalitativ studie av hur socialsekreterare kan uppleva utrymmet för civilkurage
This thesis studies public service social workers' opinions regarding their ability to act with moral courage as loyalty conflicts occur. The purpose of the thesis is to describe the social workers' experiences of their possibilities to stand up for what they believe in. We made qualitative interviews with five social workers in Stockholm. In an effort to pinpoint their experiences we asked them questions about what they want but cannot do and what is stop-ping them, what they do not want to do and why, aswell as what the possible solutions would be as loyalty conflicts occur. We were able to identify five different opinions on the organisa-tional cultures and how the employees' experience the extent of their actions.

Förutsättningar och strategier en analys av lärarhandledningar
Detta arbete utgår från en kvalitativ textanalys av lärarhandledningar och andra texter från
museilektioner.se. Mitt syfte är att försöka se vilka strategier som finns för att legitimera den
institutionsförlagda kulturpedagogiken i skolan, vilka argument som återfinns för ett sådant
arbete och därmed hur kulturen positionerar sig gentemot skolan. I de handledningar jag
undersöker gör jag ett försök att se hur eleven är tänkt att agera, vilken roll denne tillskrivs och
därmed hur kulturen förhåller sig till den enskilde eleven.
Konst och kulturpedagogik står traditionellt inför ett dilemma där pedagogen väger en
sträng förmedling av föremål och konst mot en öppen reception där mottagaren lämnas fri att se
vad denne vill. Genom att undersöka vem som har makt över situationen och hur besökarnas
erfarenhet hanteras kan jag närma mig en förståelse för hur ovanstående dilemma hanteras i
handledningarna.
Min analys visar att institutionens funktion som kulturbärare eller kulturskapare har
inverkan på hur pedagogiken utformas och därmed hur receptionen blir behäftad med olika
ramar..
Evolutionen som grund för moraliskt tänkande
Denna uppsats argumenterar för tesen att moraliskt tänkande är en irrationell produkt av evolutionen och att detta underminerar värderealismen. Den argumenterar för att värdeomdömen i praktiken inte bygger på rationella övervägningar utan på känslor och att vi har fått dessa av naturen. Om värdeomdömen bygger på naturliga instinkter som vi har fått av evolutionära skäl är de opålitliga. Denna tankegång leder till skepticism och amoralism verkar vara den mest rationella inställningen till moral eftersom andra inställningar förefaller bygga på irrationella omdömen..

Almost 10 years after the attack on World Trade Center Sept. 11 2001, Osama bin Laden was shot and killed on May 2 2011 in Pakistan. How was this event framed by the media with regards to the global war on terror? This study compares two different American newspapers ? the New York Times and the New York Daily News ? and how they framed the war on terrorism in the Middle East from May 2 to May 15 2011. By analyzing the framing in a perspective of the four functions of framing theory: define problems, diagnose causes, make moral judgments and suggest remedies, we found considerable differences in each papers frames.

This essay shows how the concept of virtue can deepen our understanding considering processes of empowerment. A virtue is understood as a trait of character, manifested in habitual action, that it is good for person a to have. Virtues are interpreted as socially constructed. Empowerment is presented as a process toward self-confidence and self-determination where recourses and freedom propels the development toward power for the individual, the household and the community. Why does the concept of virtue deepen our understanding? It is argued that our theoretical perceptive of empowerment needs to better encompass values, norms and practise.
Lika deltagande eller kompensation : En intervjustudie av hur högstadielärare förhåller sig till elever med dyslexi i undervisning och betygssättning
This essay aims to examine how Swedish compulsory school teachers claims to handle dyslexia while educating and grading, and to what extent they are influenced by others while grading. This was examined through interviews with a phenomenographic approach and the participants were eight grade 9 teachers. The categories of description found in the analysis was then interpreted through researcher Claes Nilhoms dilemma perspective, focusing on the dilemma Equal Participation - Compensation. Regarding education, three main strategies occurred: actions directed towards all students, methods of compensation organized by the school and individualized methods of compensation. The former is closest to Equal Participation, the latter to Compensation and the school organized methods form a middle position somewhat closer to Compensation.

The purpose of this essay is to analyse and understand how students, as consumers, choose brands from the aspects of the concept of CSR, the economic, social and environmental. The essay is based on a qualitative method with three focus groups, with five respondents in each of them. The respondents are all studying at Kalmar University and they have all studied some kind of economic-course. We have used a lot of different sources for our theory chapter, this because of the fact that we wanted to have different angles, so that we would be able to cover all of the questions we wanted to discuss in the focus groups. In our two final chapters we discuss the issues similar to the theory section and we highlight our own thoughts.

Det (väst-) europeiska samarbetet - från säkerhetsdilemma till stabil fred
In this essay the morphing of the interstate relations in the post-World War II Western Europe is taken in to consideration in discussing how these relations were stabilized and consolidated through community cooperation to achieve a state of stable peace. It concludes that the early 1900's of Western Europe comes close to being conditioned by Herz's security dilemma and then continues to analyze the development from this state to one of stable peace. In this analysis pivotal features of the ECSC, EEC and the EC are being scrutinized through the use of Boulding's Stable Peace theory and developments of the very same, in separate case studies, in order to account for the Communities? influence on the peace process.In doing this, conclusions are drawn that external pressures can be very effective in creating an incentive to move beyond an initial state of conflicting self-images and that a stabilizing process has got to provide a long term solution in order to sustain a trustful relationship. In order to provide this long term solution the community cooperations suggests that locking in through institutionalization, harmonization, and the creation of a state of irrevocable interdependence are highly effective..
"'Jag tycker såhär och då är det såhär.' Det är inte så." : En kvalitativ intervjustudie om lärares interaktionsstrategier i bemötandet av rasistiska, avvikande och kontroversiella uppfattningar
The purpose of this study is to investigate how six students at a Secondary School describes interaction patterns among teachers when students express in a way that the teacher perceives as racist and/or xenophobic, by presenting a qualitative interview study. The interviews were analyzed by two opposing models of value education: the traditional and the constructive model.The results show that students divide teachers in different categories based on five qualities: 1) they listening, 2) they accept students' opinions, 3) they allow discussion, 4) they are knowledgeable and 5) they can express their own opinions.These qualities are included in the value pedagogical model for deliberative conversations, whose strategies for interaction aim to create an understanding of different rules and values, thereby creating skills of rules by using a democratic approach. In contrast to this model, the rule-based moral education, in which the teacher uses his authority and refers to rules without giving an explanation for why they occurred, as strategies. .
Mänskliga rättigheter i globaliseringens tidevarv
This thesis compares different justifications of human rights with the philosophy of Axel Hägerström. Hägerström´s philosophy uses a strict logic and discards the notion of the existence of absolute values and moral right and wrong. The justifications that are examined are those of Robert Nozick, Alan Gewirth and the postmodern view. Nozick emanates from arguments of natural law, which is rejected by Hägerström as metaphysics. Gewirths logical justification emanates in part from moral arguments and hence differentiates from Hägerström, but it can be used for constructing a practical application of Hägerström's philosophy and thereby motivate a legislation relating to human rights.
Nytta och moral. : Hur motiveras svenska internationella insatser?
Hur motiveras Sveriges deltagande i internationella insatser? Överväger nytta eller moral?Med utgångspunkt i klassisk retorik undersöks genom kvalitativ textanalys och komparativ metod hur deltagande i internationella insatser motiveras. Genom att studera övergripande och policygivande dokument undersöks hur den generella motivbilden är konstruerad, vilket därefter används till att utforma det analysverktyg som används för att undersöka och jämföra insatsspecifika motiv. Tre insatser undersöks: UNIFIL (2006-2007), EUFOR Tchad/RCA (2008) och OUP Libyen (2011).Resultatet antyder att deltagandet motiveras med både nytta och moral. I den generella motivbilden överväger nyttomotiven, varvid egennyttiga motiv ges en framträdande plats.

The subject of this study is the ?work strategy? (arbetslinjen); the idea that work and active measures are preferred over cash benefits. The aim of the study is to investigate why the work strategy, which has been almost undisputed for nearly a century, has had widely changing contents over the years, what measures have been taken and which groups have been included. It also attempts to find out whether there is a correlation between unemployment rates, society and the different aspects of the work strategy. The study is conducted as an idea analysis, mainly of dissertations on the work strategy and public inquiries, and covers five time periods from the 1920?s until today.
