Given a considerable increase in knowledge-based companies, the interest for measuring and valuing intangible assets, particularly human capital, has increased accordingly. Human capital has climbed the management research agenda as human assets make substantial contribution to the value creation in knowledge-based companies. Neither internal nor external financial statements reflect the value of an organization?s human assets. Against this backdrop, we find it interesting to explore how counting and controlling for human capital is devised.

I Sverige och utomlands har man på senare tid sett framväxten av ett nätverk av s.k. Science Centers (SC). Dessa SC har som viktigaste syfte att öka besökarnas naturvetenskapliga intresse. När det gäller elever från högstadiets senare år kan detta ökade intresse för naturvetenskap t ex visa sig i form av en ökad benägenhet hos eleverna att söka sig till ett naturvetenskapligt inriktat gymnasieprogram.Vi har utvecklat och använt en enkät-baserad metod för att undersöka den påverkan på elevers intresse för naturvetenskap som ett besök på SC har. Enkäten är lämplig att användas för elever från grundskolans senare årskurser.

Most of the sea areas within the European Union are overfished and the catches are estimated to be up to five times lager then the amount to achieve a sustainable fishery. In doing so, the management of EU's marine resources comes to be questioned. The purpose of this study was to analyze EU's administration of marine fisheries and to explore which steps that can be undertaken to counteract the negative trend. The questions of the study were: How does the EU administrate today?s marine fishery recourses? And: How can the problem whit overfishing be discouraged? To answer these questions a comparative analyses were used to compare and evaluate administrative systems.

Det finns en förhållandevis markant skillnad mellan styrningen av franchisetagare och konventionella resultatenheter. Detta eftersom det i franchiserelationerna inte finns någon målkonflikt i finansiellt hänseende. Vi har identifierat två relativt olikartade varianter av franchisestyrning; den omsorgsfulle despoten (Reitangruppen) samt den nonchalante kumpanen (Pölsemannen). Distinktionen mellan de båda typerna utgörs främst av i vilken grad tagarna kontrolleras, vilket även kan benämnas hård respektive lös styrning..

Sweden is going through big changes within the bank sector. Increasing card usage, decrease of cash acceptance in the society, an attempt to reduce money laundering, and a possible increase in profitability has lead to the rescindment of cash management among three of the four major banks. This has lead to a big debate in the society, a lot of frustration from customers, and a drop in customer satisfaction for every bank that started the process of removing cash management. The purpose of this study is to find out how the banks could keep their customer satisfaction when removing cash management. When doing the study, the rescindment of cash was a deduction of a part of the service, compared to the normal adding or starting of a service. The study was done through a focus group that was the base of a questionnaire that got answered by 125 respondents.

Vi har genom intervjuer med företag och revisorer kommit fram till den här slutsatsen:I praktiken har inte företagen upplevt några större pro-blem. Företagens problem består dels av det merarbete som kommer av URA 46, dels de höjda konsultkostna-derna som följer av värderingsproblematiken. Våra in-tervjuer har visat att IFRS 2 inte utgör något hot mot personaloptioners vara eller icke vara. Företagen anser att det är andra faktorer som ligger bakom personalop-tioners existens..

Det övergripande syftet med denna studie är att analysera högstadieelevers upplevelser av elevdemokrati i skolan. Studier från tidigare forskare har inriktat sig på hur lärarna upplever att eleverna får vara med och påverka i skolan. Vi ansåg därför att det var behövligt att genomföra en studie om hur eleverna upplever sin situation. Studien genomfördes genom att åtta elever deltog i kvalitativa intervjuer om deras upplevelser om elevdemokrati. Intervjuerna genomfördes hösten 2012 och var uppbyggda efter en semistrukturerad metod, vilket gav eleverna möjligheten att utveckla sina svar samt gav oss utrymme att ställa följdfrågor.

The aim of this work was to investigate possible risk factors for colic in horses, and to describe what horse owners can do to prevent this condition. The gastrointestinal system of the horse is constructed for continuous high fibre consumption for a period up to eighteen hours a day. Under those conditions, the continuous flow of digesta stimulates gut motility so that the intestines move constantly. When the diet is changed rapidly and the horse is being fed high rations of concentrates each day, the risk of getting colic is higher compared to when consuming less concentrates and giving the horse a stable diet. Lack or absence of access to water and restricted allowance to move freely every day increases the risk of colic. Changed management practices and decreased activity contributes to increased risks, as well as other critical risk factors such as breed, season and age combined with rapidly changed management. More knowledge and education is required of the horse owners about feed requirements in the horse, management routines and rapidly changed activity..

Då konkurrensen mellan företag har blivit hårdare och att behålla de talangfulla medarbetarna blivit viktigare har Talent Management fått större utrymme i dagens forskning och fler företag har börjat använda sig av det. Talent Management handlar om att attrahera och ta vara på talanger i företag och att ha rätt person på rätt plats vid rätt tidpunkt.För att få bättre förståelse för hur företag arbetar med Talent Management och om det är något som är positivt för företag, har vi valt att göra en kvalitativ studie med semistrukturerade intervjuer på ett fallföretag inom banksektorn. Vi har utgått från ett företagsledningsperspektiv och har därför valt att intervjua respondenter på ledande positioner. Sex personer har intervjuats och vi har sedan analyserat resultatet med hjälp av olika teorier inom ämnet Talent Management. Syftet har varit att undersöka om Talent Management kan leda till konkurrensfördelar för företaget.Det som framkommit under empirin är att respondenterna är positiva till arbetet med Talent Management och kan se många fördelar till följd av detta.

Syftet med undersökningen är att genom fyra läroböcker i religionskunskap som används i årskurs 9 ta reda på vilket budskap bilderna i avsnitten om hinduism förmedlar till eleverna. Detta har gjorts med utgångspunkt i genus, där stor vikt lagts på könsfördelningen inom det religiösa livet.Huvudfrågorna som undersökningen grundas på är hur män respektive kvinnor skildras i bilderna. Vad säger de oss om könsfördelningen inom hinduismens religiösa liv? Hur förhåller sig bildmaterialet till den omgivande texten och till bildtexten?Tidigare forskning har framförallt inriktat sig på islam och området kring hinduism är relativt outforskat. Undersökningen baserades på cirka 50 bilder från de valda läroböckerna och resultatet visar att det finns en majoritet av män på bilderna, dels när religiösa handlingar framställs, dels ur allmän utgångspunkt.

The aim of this study was to increase the knowledge about if and how the National Value System?s goal of a life with dignity for the elderly pervades the work in home care organisations. The study was based on a qualitative research method and was conducted through interviews with professional care givers in home care organisations, there were five individual interviews and one pair interview. The background for this study was the National Value System for the eldercare that was introduced in 2011. The theory of New Public Management and the concept of Rationality of Caring were used to analyse the result.

The information market is constantly changing. With new and improved information technology more people get access to more information faster. However, the number of people educated to handle information also increases. Business intelligence has for a long time been a well-known tool for companies to be competitive. Because of the increased access to information the competition between companies has intensified and more people have become aware of the advantages of business intelligence and how it can help them compete.

The investigation was initiated because of the high workload of the sellers and, additionally, because the Tunadal sawmill has received low ratings in customer surveys. Thus,  two main approaches are adopted here,  the first being to investigate which of the three methods  of working, namely, market divided flow organization, function organizationand flow organization with collaboration, proves to be the most beneficial. The second is to investigate whether there is an available method to ease the daily work. A literature review has been made in order to determine more efficient ways for the sellers to work in the Tunadal sawmill. During the investigation, an in-depth investigation into the total quality management using a balanced scorecard as a management tool was conducted.
