The Swedish mental hospitals existed for about one hundred years, the period around 1880-1980. The research is intended to be from a local setting perspective to study the local approach used to meet requirements from FurunÀsets mental hospital principals 1960 - 1972, the effect this had on the care and treatment of mentally ill patients and how Swedish society's changing approach to mental health influenced the process. The results of the research showed that FurunÀset searched for ways to meet the principals' requirements which often went against the patients? personal best. FurunÀsets mental hospital strove to fulfill its institutional goals in them selves rather than giving patients the care and treatment they needed.

Background:Persons living with a mental illness often have to put up with a financial disadvantage. Their ability to work is often limited and because of that they have to rely on the welfare reform to get an income. This income is often low compared to other citizens which by itself is something strongly associated with mental illness. Purpose: The purpose in this study was to describe how people living with a mental illness experience that their economic situation has an impact on their daily life. Method: This study is a literature review containing nine scientific articles from previous research.

The purpose of this paper was to examine how clients on the unit for adults at Södemalms district administration (Stockholm, Sweden) with severe mental illness and substance abuse differs from other clients with substance abuse at the baseline and at follow-up one year later. We have used a quantitative method and analyzed material from ASI-interviews performed at the adult drug abuse unit at Södermalm during the time period 2002-2010. At the baseline the clients with substance abuse and co-occurring severe mental illness have more problems than other clients, primarily in the area of mental health. They spend more time alone and are more likely to engage in illegal activities. Interviewers assess their situation as more serious and that they need more help in all of ASI's areas of life than other clients.

Inledning:Den professionella ishockeyspelaren har ishockey som sitt jobb och befinner sig i en stark tÀvlingsmiljö dÀr man hela tiden blir vÀrderad. Om man inte presterar tillrÀckligt bra som ishockeyspelare kan man förlora sitt jobb. Ishockeyspelare trÀnar otroligt mycket fysik och teknik, men denna starkt prestationsbaserad miljö kan ocksÄ innebÀra en mental belastning. Syfte:Syftet med studien Àr att undersöka uppfattningar om mentala fÀrdigheter i elitserien i ishockey, samt hur man inom samma fÀlt betraktar vikten av att arbeta med mental trÀning.Metod:Min empiriska studie innefattar intervjuer med sex sportchefer i elitserien i ishockey. Av det insamlade materialet har tre kategorier skapats och analyserats.Resultat:Jag fann att mentala fÀrdigheter Àr nÄgot man finner som vÀldigt viktigt för ishockeyspelare i elitserien. För att klara av den tuffa prestationsmiljön behöver man framförallt ett gott sjÀlvförtroende och en bra instÀllning.

Our aim of this study was to investigate barriers and opportunities for people with mental disorders getting in to the labor market. This from experiences by people whose daily job contains work rehabilitation for this group in particular. On the basis of five qualitative interviews the results showed that prejudices towards people with mental disorders are a barrier for them to get a wage labor. Furthermore the results showed that low self-esteem within the target group and also high educational demands becomes a barrier to a wage labor. The results also showed that to focus on the healthy aspects may serve as an opportunity for people with mental disorders to get in to the labor market and be able to have a paid job.

In this study, the aim is to show how the social services fails to implement a specific rights law (LSS) wich is supposed to have the function of protecting the wellfare and provide specific rights to people with severe mental disabilities. By applying chritical theory on this case the aim is to provide an alternative answer on why it is possible for the social services to ignore these peoples rights.By revealing the power structures in the encounter between the system and a person with mental dissablilities, I conclude that people with mental disabilities does not fit in when it comes the social sevices way of implementing the law and further more that a private person is extreamly exposed to the systems arbitrariness..

Syftet med föreliggande studie var att undersöka samband mellan de arbetsvillkor som berör grĂ€nslöst arbete och mental samt fysisk hĂ€lsa. Även att undersöka skillnader mellan olika anstĂ€llningsförhĂ„llanden sĂ„ som fastanstĂ€llning och ej fastanstĂ€llning och om de skiljer sig Ă„t beroende pĂ„ arbetsvillkor och hĂ€lsa. Deltagarna var 69 personer varav 42 stycken var kvinnor och 27 stycken var mĂ€n. Resultaten visade att det fanns starka samband mellan de olika arbetsvillkoren och mental samt fysisk hĂ€lsa. Det visade sig Ă€ven att det fanns ett flertal signifikanta skillnader mellan fastanstĂ€llda och ej fastanstĂ€llda.

Portable IT devices such as laptops, smart phones and computer tablets are becoming ever more ubiquitous. At the same time, the population of the Western world is growing older, with aging bringing about changes with regards to individuals' physical and mental capabilities. These facts raises important questions about how well suited these devices are for use by elderly people. This study focuses on the cognitive aspects of the devices' usability, using the concept of mental models to analyze the users' understanding of a computer tablet. It also draws upon theory of graphical user interfaces in its analyses.

Det har skett stora förĂ€ndringar pĂ„ arbetsmarknaden, dĂ€r visstidsanstĂ€llning/ behovsanstĂ€llning blivit alltmer vanligare anstĂ€llningsformen i Sverige. Individer som inte har fast anstĂ€llning har Ă€ven sĂ€mre psykosociala arbetsförhĂ„llanden och upplever större stress pĂ„ arbetsplatsen, vilket i sin tur kan leda till mental ohĂ€lsa. Även kvinnor upplever sig ha sĂ€mre psykosociala arbetsförhĂ„llanden jĂ€mfört med mĂ€n. I denna studie undersöks sambandet mellan psykosociala arbetsförhĂ„llanden, arbetsbelastning, anstĂ€llningsform samt kön och mental ohĂ€lsa. De psykosociala förhĂ„llanden mĂ€ts genom den sĂ„ kallade krav- och kontrollmodell som omfattar vilken typ av arbete individen utför.

Patients with mental illness experience dissatisfaction with their care due to lack of understanding and ignorance from the nurses. The nurses? approach might influence these patients' experience of their care. The purpose of the literature review was to describe nurses' approach in care of patients with mental illness. The literature review is based on an inductive approach and the result is based on 14 scientific papers, of which eight used a qualitative design and sex used a quantitative design.

Syftet med studien var att undersöka vad mental tuffhet Àr för tvÄ erfarna löpare, men Àven hur mental tuffhet kan ha hjÀlpt dem innan, under och efter ett löparÀventyr frÄn Portugal till Sverige (i fortsÀttningen kallat en ?utmaning?). The aim of this study was to understand how care staff in residential care perceive and work with elderly mental health and how these perceptions and work is related to aging. We have gathered our empirical material through eight qualitative interviews and vignettes with care staff in residential care. The study was conducted in a municipality with 10 000 to 20 000 inhabitants in southern Sweden. The material was analyzed with use of ageism as a theoretical frame of reference. The results showed that the care staff had different perceptions of mental illness in general and regarding the elderly.
