Internetmobbningens påverkan på den psykiska hälsan hos skolungdomar. En litteraturbaserad studie.

Introduction: During the last decades, the development of the communication society has contributed to new patterns of communications among people, but also increased the use of computers and mobile devices. It has become more common to communicate through social medias, which has led to the new phenomena cyberbullying. At the same time, studies have shown an increase in mental health problems among adolescents during the last 25 years. Aim: The aim of this literature review was to investigate and map the characteristics of cyberbullying and its relationship to mental health among adolescents. The aim was also to investigate adolescents own actions to stop cyberbullying. Method: A literature study based on 17 scientific articles with both quantitative and qualitative studies included. Results: The results showed that there is a connection between mental health and cyberbullying and that cyberbullying is more common among girls. The results also showed that risk factors for cyberbullying were to study in the ninth grade or have bad family relationships. Another finding was that it is uncommon for students to tell someone else when they have been exposed to cyberbullying. Discussion/Conclusion: The study suggests that there is a connection between mental health and cyberbullying, but also that mental health among adolescents has gotten worse during the last years. If this problem continues, the costs for the society will grow. It is therefore important to start working in a more preventive way to increase the well-being in the population but also to reduce the costs for the society.
