Title: Multi channel publishing: a qualitative study on how Norrköpings Tidningen publishes news in multiple channelsAuthor: Roland AlbinssonThesis supervisor: Per-Anders ForstorpBackground: In this day and age, the media is omnipresent and a part of our daily life. The phenomenon of media convergence can be traced back to the birth of the internet, and today all of the major newspapers have a website of their own. As a result of multichannel publishing, consumers have a wide range of tv channels to choose from, but there is still uncertainty as to whether more channels automatically equates to more and better news. There is no doubt about the fact that multi channel publishing is a necessary survival skill for media conglomerates today, but effects such as news recycling and the concentration of ownership are in conflict with the consumers? availability demands.Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to, by means of a case study, describe how NT?s multi channel publishing is an expression of media convergence, as well as to study how the news are affected by multi channel publishing.Research procedure: This study is based on three different research methods, observations, text analyses and qualitative interviews.

Från papper till pixel : Kvarnholmen studerad utifrån historiska kartor med stöd av GIS

Sweden has a long tradition as a mapmaking nation. Tens of thousands of historical maps,dating from the sixteenth century and onwards are still preserved in archives today, providinga rich resource for studies of city growth and changes in the landscape through time. For morethan ten years an effort has been made by public authorities to transfer this material frompaper onto digital media. Due to modern technology, as for example GeographicalInformation Systems (GIS), researchers have been given improved possibilities to study andanalyze this material. This study uses a qualitative approach, based on both literature studiesas well as map studies.

Bilden av ledaren i media - en studie i hur kvinnliga respektive manliga ledare framställs i media

Uppsatsen undersöker tre fiktiva medietexter, två serier och en film, samt 82 ledarporträtt i tidningen Veckans Affärer. Genom en hermeneutisk ansats tolkar vi medietexterna för att se om det finns en skillnad i hur män och kvinnor i ledarposition framställs. Vi analyserar såväl det som framställs i bilder som det sagda och skrivna i dessa medietexter. Uppsatsens teoretiska bas utgörs av relevanta teorier i ämnena företagsekonomi, medie- och kommunikationsvetenskap samt genusvetenskap. Vi använder oss av teorier för medieanalys i kombination med teorier kring ledarskap och genus för att skapa en så heltäckande teoretisk bas som vi anser krävs för att uppfylla vårt syfte.

Dubbelt utan röst? : Dilemman och strategier när unga under 18 år ska få komma till tals i nyhetsmedier

Uppsatsen undersöker dilemman och strategier när minderåriga barn och unga ska få komma till tals i svenska nyhetsmedier, och på vilket sätt myndighetsgränsen ingår som en parameter när mediers ansvarighet (media accountability) ska tolkas på detta område. Frågorna diskuteras ur ett barnrättighetsperspektiv, och utgår från barndomssociologins tankar om barndom som en social konstruktion. En analys av de medieetiska kontrollinstansernas friande och fällande av anmälda publiceringar visar att ett flertal etiska övertramp begås i samband med att unga omtalas som brottsoffer eller anhöriga, medan etiska övertramp i samband med intervjuer är betydligt färre, och då framför allt när barn får personifiera sociala problem. Av en kvalitativ intervjustudie med utgivare inom olika typer av nyhetsmedia, varav flera branschdominerande, framgår att utgivare i stort sett helt vill undvika negativa reaktioner från vårdnadshavare. Försiktighetsprinciper och målgruppstänkande dominerar över mångfaldsprinciper.

Serial killers are present in most Media today: TV-shows, books, magazines, news shows and music. Research about them has been made in many fields, such as criminology, psychology and psychiatry. There is also research about the serial killer as a cultural being. In my paper I have looked into the serial killer in fiction. I have chosen to compare two novels that deal with the serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer.

Innehållsmarknadsföring på sociala medier : En studie om Generation Y:s mottaglighet i sociala mediekanaler

By reading earlier research on Generation Y, content marketing and on social media during the working process the problem has gradually changed, in accordance with an abductive research approach. The study focus has developed from examine marketing methods on marketing towards Generation Y to include on what social media platform Generation Y is most susceptible for content marketing.The purpose of this study is to help companies whose target market is Generation Y to aim their content marketing through the right distribution channels, to save time and money. To meet this objective and to answer the main question of this study, empirical data was collected through a web based, quantitative survey which was completed by a total of 301 respondents, all of them belonging to Generation Y. The collected quantitative data was contrasted with existing theory and was analysed.The study concluded that Facebook is the social media channel where Generation Y feel most susceptible for content marketing, followed by YouTube. .

Abstract The use of electronic media plays an important part in the life of youth and especially Internet and mobile phones are important in the social and cultural networks of youth. The first step of this thesis is to examine the ICT-based activities of upper secondary school students through an online survey. The second step is to examine what didactic implications can be derived from the ICT-based activities in the subject of Swedish. Results from this survey and national and international research show that young people spend the majority of their leisure time on the Internet. The result also shows that media activities displace other school related activities such as traditional reading and writing.

The aim of this thesis is to examine the term balanced collection in relation to Swedish laws and the democratic assignment. The Unesco Public Library Manifesto states that libraries are to formulate a policy defining objectives, priorities and services in relation to local community needs. The Swedish Libraries Act, paragraph 7, states that municipalities and counties shall adopt plans for library services. To fulfil our aim we will answer the following questions. By which terms is the democratic assignment visible in Swedish public libraries collection development policies? Is the term balanced collection used in Swedish public libraries collection development policies? If not, are there categories describing balanced collection? So, what should a viral campaign or message contain in order to create this interest among us consumers? There are few empirical studies done in this subject which makes this kind of uncharted territory.

Hur beskrivs lärarutbildningen i media? : En diskursanalys av hur media beskriver lärarutbildningen och lärarstudenter

Uppsatsen är ett självständigt arbete i utbildningsvetenskap om 15 hp. Arbetet är tillika ett examensarbete inom lärarutbildningen 330 hp. Syftet med texten är att undersöka hur media beskriver lärarutbildningen och lärarstudenter under två olika urvalsperioder. Materialet kommer från tre mediekällor med stora nationella läsekretsar. Materialet har bearbetats med diskursanalys.

"Det är inte bara folkvalda politiker som utövar offentlig makt" : En jämförande studie gällande främjande av integration i fem kommuner i Stockholms län

Based on different integration policies, we aim to examine how five municipalities in Stockholm County are working to promote integration at a local level with focus on voter participation and to some extent, representativeness among foreign-born. Statistics provided by SCB shows that foreign-born tends to vote to a lesser extent than those born in Sweden. Further, we aim to examine the implementation of two policy documents established at a national level concerning integration in contrast to policy documents established at a local level in each different municipality. Further, we aim to examine summaries of actions taken in response to the local integration programs, as well as personal interviews. Each municipality will be considered separately, but we thus seek to make a comparative study.

En ny sångfågel i marknadsföringsdjungeln: En kvantitativ studie om Twitters potential som marknadsföringsmedium

Advertisers of today are facing a great challenge in a landscape where it becomes even more difficult to break through the clutter and convince consumers to buy their products. In order to succeed, they need to come up with new ways of communicating with their customers. The purpose of this paper is to investigate if micro-blogging could be considered an effective media choice in order to enhance the perception of brand associations and traditional communication effects. The subject is of interest as brands are putting increasingly more resources into this communication channel. However, at the current date the marketing effects of micro-blogging is unexplored in academic research.

Språklig Diskriminering : En kvalitativ studie om representation av romer i Aftonbladet och Dagens Nyheter

I samtida nyhetsrapportering framkommer näst intill dagligen kontroverser kring romer och deras situation och den mediebild som det svenska samhället blir tilldelad av medierna tenderar att uppfattas som objektiva sanningar som sällan kritiskt ifrågasätts. Med avstamp i den mediala nyhetslogiken är det därför viktigt att belysa och ur ett kritiskt perspektiv granska denna bild och de inbyggda antaganden om romer som förmedlas. Syftet med denna studie är därför att genom en tematisk analys undersöka vilka som är de övergripande teman som romer kopplas samman med och vidare genom en kritisk diskursanalys analysera hur romer representeras samt hur eventuella diskrimineringsmekanismer kommer till uttryck i Dagens Nyheter och Aftonbladets nyhetsrapportering under perioden 1 januari till 30 April 2015. Den kritiska diskursanalysen utgår från van Dijks metodmodell som vidare har kopplats samman med Kristina Boréus begreppsapparat som syftar till att åskådliggöra språklig diskriminering i nyhetsrapportering. Jämte tidigare forskning som behandlar diskursiv rasism, ?Europas romer? och nyhetsdiskurs om romer i brittisk och rumänsk press består de teoretiska utgångspunkterna huvudsakligen av mediernas roll, representation av grupper, diskursteori, stereotypisering och språklig diskriminering. Resultatet av analysen visar att tiggeriet är en debatt som fått stort utrymme och där romer ofta nämns samt att diskriminering av romer är uppmärksammad i Dagens Nyheter och Aftonbladets nyhetsrapportering.

Marginaliserad kunskap? ? En kritisk studie av representationen av genusvetenskaplig litteratur i klassifikationssystem och ämnesordslistor

The main focus of this master?s thesis concerns the relation between subject representation, power and gender. Classification systems and subject heading lists are products of their cultural and social context and some subjects and disciplines are given a greater value than others. Our aim in this thesis is twofold; to discuss and critically analyse the prevailing gender norms that are expressed trough classification systems and subject heading lists and to examine how they manage to represent gender studies as a multidisciplinary subject in theory as well as in practice. We are also discussing the particular problems with the representation of multidisciplinary subjects in general.
