In today?s fast growing and closely connected society, a reliable and energy efficient transportation system is more than ever desirable. Nowadays the significant part of the transportation sector?s energy demand is supplied by fossil fuels.Improving energy efficiency in combustion engines will result in reduction of fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. A modern internal combustion engine has an efficiency of 30-45 %, where the most energy loss occurs as result of heat losses in the exhaust and cooling systems.

Examensarbetet syftar till att jämföra nya alternativ till olika system för användning i laborationer i reglerteknikkurser för olika studentkategorier. Det skall utredas vilket av ett antal alternativ till mjukvaruplattformar som är bäst lämpat att användas vid reglerteknikundervisningen i ITN:s reglerlaboratorium vid Linköpings universitet. Tidigare laborationer i berörda kurser skall även modifieras så att dessa kan genomföras i de nya systemen.Examensarbetet resulterade i en rad modifierade laborationer och system att tillämpa i dessa. De nya systemen medför att all reglering sköts direkt från en dator istället för tidigare variant med externa apparater som programmeras. Simulations of simulink models using Kalman filters are often very time-consuming. This problem depends mainly on the fact that the Kalman correction has to be performed at each sample instance through the whole simulation. The goal for this thesis work is to reduce that time-consumption for the filtering part (the integration partis treated in a complementary report) of a simulation. Furthermore a Matlab routine to perform parameter tuning and finally a graphical user interface is developed.The filtering part of the simulation in this thesis is based on an Extended Kalman Filter (EKF). The time optimization of this filter considers searching for the possibility to replace the today?s existing Matlab functions that is used to perform the filtering calculations.

The main purpose of a logotype is to harmonize with a company?s business concept and culture. This study is based on the receiver?s attitudes about three different logotypes - Volvo, Telia and Mcdonald's. It informs the reader about the importance of a logotype as a mean of communication and if the perceptions of the logotype harmonize with the profile of the company.

Mediet vi kommunicerar genom påverkar hur budskapet i meddelandet uppfattas. Detta gör att olika medier föredras vid olika tillfällen. Syftet med denna undersökning var att experimentellt undersöka om olika medier (film, radio och text) påverkar uppfattningen av ilska. Hypotesen var att ilskan skulle uppfattas snabbare och starkare när den visades som film eftersom det innebär att fler verktyg, som kroppsspråk och tonläge, är tillgängliga. I undersökningen presenterades ett bråk mellan en lärare och en elev för 75 personer, antingen som film, ljud eller text.

This report is the result of a master thesis carried out by the author, student at the Royal Instituteof Technology(KTH). The task was performed as a product development process at a companycalled Ameibo AB, located in Stockholm. It is the final task of the studies at the Master'sprogramme Design and Product Realization. The report is structured in a chronological order anddescribes the methods used, the implementation of these methods and a presentation of theresults given from these studies.Ameibo is a company located in Stockholm, distributing films on the internet. The aim of thismaster thesis was to investigate the possibilities of entering the market for portable devices.

This examination project is carried out for Waséns Traffic School in Linköping. The task was to develop a completely new windows application and a webpage that connects to the same MySQL database. The windows application (ATSV) is a program intended to carry out all the administrative tasks that a clerk at a traffic school may need: pupil management, reservations, billing and register functions. The applications was developed in C++ using Visual C++ from Microsoft. The connection to the MySQL database was made possible by using the class package MySQL++.

As the field of marketing becomes increasingly competitive, creative tools to reach the intended consumer needs to be utilized. In order to break through the crowded airways and packed ad space, one can choose to direct the message through channels that relate to currenttrends in society, while using innovative artistic concepts. The fundamental purpose behind this report is to provide a roadmap for creating a successful and unique marketing campaign. In addition, we have attempted to identify how visual methods can add valuable attributes to the campaign, ensuring a more progressive and distinct impression. To illustrate our claims, we have chosen to analyze Wasabröd?s latest marketing effort, ?Change Bread,? by dividing it into three sections, including planning, execution, and the visual creation.

This thesis aims to contribute to improved functional procurement of photovoltaic systems, PV systems. Functional procurement means that criteria concerning a function are set rather than specifying technical details or products. Possible advantages and difficulties in using functional procurement have been analyzed by interviews, simulations and a case study. Electricity production and surplus production for different scenarios have been simulated via MATLAB. The MATLAB script was also used to generate rules of thumb on feasible solar fraction for six different load profiles; a church, a farm, a car mechanic, an office, an industry and an apartment building.

Jag har gjort en studie av fyra lektionsplaneringar som rör spelfilmfilm i historieundervisningen. Syftet har varit att ta reda på hur spelfilm används i historieundervisningen. Film är en stor källa till historieförmedling. Genom att se hur filmen används i skolan vill jag ta reda på hur man dessa båda historiekulturer samverkar. Jag utgår från historiemedvetande och historiebruk när jag gör min analys och bygger min teori.

In the spring of 2014 Sweco Systems AB were commissioned to design a ventilation system for a newly built preschool in Linköping. Terms from the client was that it cost efficiency would cope with the energy demands that are placed on the building. The unit chosen was a cross-flow heat exchanger, and this work is to compare it with two other heat exchangers to see if a more energy and cost efficient could have been chosen. The heat exchangers that was chosen for the comparison was a rotating- and a counterflow heat exchanger. Simulations have been made to the different heat exchangers by the manufacturers.

The advantage and the possibility of keeping track of a number of vehicles to make work practice more effective and smooth is today a favorable choice for Visual Units Logistics customers. We?ve been evaluating the software and trying to take it one step further and letting not only the individual user, but maybe, the company as a whole benefit from its advantages. This has been done by using methods like letting ourselves get to know the software, user case studies, workplace studies, interviews and future workshops. This resulted in a prototype introducing a new function designed with all collected data in mind trying to make the software, Visual Units Logistics, even more effective for the every day work practice of the user. Mitt projekt är en film i 3d med en skräckfylld underton som utspelas genom en fiktiv persons ögon där färden går genom en skog fram till vad som ser ut att vara en nedlagd fabrik. Men där tystheten från början råder visar sig både det ena och det andra utav märkligheter uppstå! Effekterna för den mörka upplevelsen är prioriterad framför en begriplig handling, och därför finns inga övertydliga budskap som underskattar betraktarens egna slutsatser av filmen. Filmen är ett experiment med 3d, postproduktion och ljud som visar en blandning av konkreta spänningsmoment och en morbid känsla av rå död!.

Det primära målet med examensarbetet var att utforma ett koncept på hur man kan göra flygtrafiken säkrare både på marken och i luften. Konceptet fick namnet ATSVIS, vilket står Airport Traffic Surveillance and Visual Information System. ATSVIS är tänkt att ge anvisningar om vad nya idéer och ny teknologi kan tillföra piloten och trafikledningen. ATSVIS avser även att automatisera och förenkla flygtrafiken, vilket skall leda till säkrare flygtrafik både i luften och på marken. Konceptet ATSVIS kommer att utformas efter egna idéer och från intervjuer med branschfolk.
