Due to traditional beliefs about biological differences between the sexes, the sex ratio is abnormally uneven in northern parts of India. There is a combination of old methods like female infanticide and new technologies, which make selective abortion possible. The strong practices of dowry transform daughters to economical burdens to their parents. They face mortal danger before, at and after birth. With rapid economical progress and advanced technology, India is a country in progress.

Background: Funds have become a more popular way for investments. After the financial crisis in 2008 there was some sectors that shown a better results than other depending if the sector was affected by the economic situation or not. Therefore can  investments in sector funds be a good way to get a high return, but it also has a high risk.Problem: Has the risk any impact on the return considered funds in sectors that is affected by the economic situation relatively to sectors that isn?t affected by the situation in the economy?Purpose: Determine whether sector funds risk has any impact on the return. Also if there are any differences between sectors depending if they are affected by the economic situation or not.

Användandet av pekplattor i skolan och utvecklandet av så kallade läromedelsapplikationer har ökat kraftigt de senaste åren i Sverige. Trots det ökade användandet så saknas det undersökningar i området. För att undersöka området har en fallstudie genomförts på en specifik läromedelsapplikation i matematik för grundskolan. Läromedelsapplikationen heter Parama Matte 1 och är baserad på den svenska läroplanen i matematik. Från ett interaktionsperspektiv undersöker studien hur en läromedelsapplikation kan designas i relation till hur den är utvecklad för att fungera som ett läromedelsverktyg.

Background: Documents and legislation inform us that parts of the public health service of Sweden, at a political level, aim to support people?s sexual health. Statistics show there has been an increase among young woman, seeking help for sexual pain during intercourse. The diagnosis that the media has come to observe lately is vulvar vestibulitis. In general there is a lack of knowledge about the existence of this state of pain and its causes, which impacts woman to get appropriate help and support in time.

In Sweden we have the highest rate of nontraditional students among Europe. Coincidently, we also have the highest rates of drop outs among OECD. In this particular field, drop out from higher education, there is a need fore more qualitative studies that can support the "statistics". Studies about experiences of drop outs are significant for society, university and individual. The aim of this study is to describe and understand how nontraditional student experiences drop out from higher education.

The purpose of the study is to investigate and elucidate how low-cost airlines can influence and develop tourism in a region. In order to bring about the purpose the author used two research questions. Have low-cost airlines contributed to regional development? How many additional visitors have low-cost airlines contributed to Stockholm? In order to answer these questions a survey was carried out at Arlanda airport and statistics were collected. The results of the study show that there has been a regional development.

During the summer while thelargest amount of solar heat can be generated, the activity hence the domestic wateruse in the schools are heavily reduced. Both schools are connected to the local districtheating system which makes it possible to use the solar collectors to deliver heat tothe district heating.The purpose of this thesis is to evaluate the two systems mentioned above and todetermine which system is more suitable to apply on a school. The building whichconditions were used for this evaluation is Röselidsskolan.A solar heating plant of each system type was dimensioned from the expected andknown conditions of the building. The purpose with the dimensioning was to makethe solar plants replace the ordinary energy source as much as possible.

This study has been carried out in cooperation with Unilever and partly with the EC founded project, Smartdoc IST-2000-28137. In areas of statistics and image processing, both the amount of data and the dimensions are increasing rapidly and an interactive visualization tool that lets the user perform real-time analysis can save valuable time. Real-time cropping and drill-down considerably facilitate the analysis process and yield more accurate decisions. In the Smartdoc project, there has been a request for a component used for smart filtering in multidimensional data sets. As the Smartdoc project aims to develop smart, interactive components to be used on low-end systems, the implementation of the self-organizing map algorithm proposes which dimensions to visualize.

This report is the result of a thesis at the company Sanmina in O?rnsko?ldsvik. The thesis is the final work at the mechanical engineering program at Umea? University.Sanmina has in 2015 launched an initiative to ensure that all sites are using LEAN principles and tools to enhance their business. In this thesis the survival and development of a yearly recurring event will be examined. The purpose of this work is to examine how the festival Stockholm Pride has developed and to find out what underlying factors and conditions that lays behind the development. Also being examined is how the event affects Stockholm city?s tourism industry. To be able to fulfill the purpose of the thesis a qualitative research has been used and two persons with allot of knowledge about Stockholm Pride and Stockholm?s tourism industry has been interviewed.

Enligt internationella mätningar framgår det att svenska studenter uppvisat ett sämre resultat i matematik än många andra av världens länder. Samtidigt som det kunnat konstateras att elevernas allmänna intresse för ämnet försvagats har sökandet efter alternativa metoder i ämnets undervisning blivit allt viktigare för att kunna få bukt på problemen. I denna studie undersöks hur gymnasielevers samt ämneslärarens attityd ser ut till användandet av multimediala animationer som läromedel i matematikundervisningen. Vidare utreds även hur animationer som läromedel kan utformas för att kunna bidra till en ökad inlärning. I studien har en enkätundersökning, en intervju samt en observation genomförts i syfte att mäta attityderna till mediet.

Grunden för utvecklingen av ett barns matematikkunskaper lägger man redan i förskolan. Att arbeta med matematik i förskolan är oerhört viktigt för att förbereda barnen för skolan och livet. Under min undersökning kommer jag därför att undersöka på vilket sätt matematiklärande genomförs i förskolan samt hur pedagogerna synliggör matematiken i förskolan. Under min verksamhetsförlagda tid (VFT) upptäckte jag variation i pedagogernas arbetssätt med matematik. Vissa fokuserade mycket på matematik under vardagsverksamheten medan andra knappt var engagerade i att lära barnen matematik. Min undersökning är baserad på intervjuer av sex pedagoger från två olika förskolor. Resultatet av intervjuerna visade att alla pedagoger var överens om att matematiken i förskolan förbereder barnen inför matematiken som kommer framöver i skolan och livet.
