I detta papper försvarar jag Ayn Rands metaetik mot invändningar presenterade av Charles J King. Vad är roten till alla värden? Ayn Rand menar att det är livet som är det yttersta värde och som därför gör alla andra värden möjliga och nödvändiga. Charles J. King delar inte denna uppfattning utan menar istället att det som gör värden möjliga är inte livet, utan förmågan att ha begär.

This paper is a study of 18 extant pieces of panegyrical music for the Swedish king Karl XI (1655?1697). The compositions are preserved in two forms. There are a few contemporary prints, but the largest amount of music is preserved as manuscripts in the Düben­collection (Uppsala University Library). The paper focuses on four different aspects of the production of these 18 compositions.

Chronic valvular disease (CVD) is the most common cardiac disease in dogs, which account for 75% of all the cardiac cases. Cavalier King Charles spaniel (CKCS) is the most affected breed and it´s 13th times more likely that a CKCS, between the age of 7-10 years, will die or be euthanized for cardiac disease, compared with other breeds. The prevalence has been proven to bee independent of coat color and weight but highly dependent on age and gender in CKCS. In 2001 the Swedish Kennelclub and the Special club for cavalier King Charles spaniel created a breeding program against CVD in CKCS. In this program dogs are not allowed to breed until 4 years of age and have to have a heart auscultation without murmurs.

Johansson, Fredrik (2012). Filmljudets funktioner i dramafilm ? En audio-visuell analys av filmen The King´s Speech. Examensuppsats inom Ljudproduktion, Högskolan Dalarna, Akademin för språk och medier, Falun.I denna uppsats undersöktes filmljudet i dramafilmen The King´s Speech. Detta för att ta reda på vilka funktioner filmljudet fyller i de valda sekvenserna ur nämnda film, samt hur ljudet är placerat i filmens flerkanalsmix.Filmen granskades med hjälp av en audio-visuell analys.

I uppsatsen undersöks fyra svenska översättningar av Shakespeares King Lear vad gäller hur de behandlar kulturspecifika uttryck och viktiga stildrag hos originalet, som ordlekar, sammansättningar och blankvers.Den centrala frågeställningen är vilka olika strategier som präglar de fyra översättningarna, om de i första hand är stilistiskt trogna originalet eller om de har anpassats för att lättare kunna förstås av målspråkspubliken. Frågeställningen motiveras av det tidsmässiga avståndet till originalet och av att Shakespeares text innehåller en mängd för renässanspubliken aktuella referenser, som kan vara svåra att förstå för en senare tids publik.Analysen visar att det finns en tydlig skillnad mellan översättarna, i synnerhet mellan Björn Collinders och Britt G. Hallqvist versioner. Medan Hallqvists översättning är tydligt målspråksanpassad och talspråklig i stilen präglas Collinders översättning av stilistiskt originalnära lösningar, skriftspråklighet och arkaismer. Mellan de två ytterligheterna befinner sig Carl August Hagbergs och Jan Ristarps versioner, som å ena sidan har talspråkliga och målspråksanpassade drag, å andra sidan präglas av lexikala och syntaktiska arkaismer.Översättarnas olika val kan förklaras med deras olika syften och ideal.

This is a study of humanity about the meetings we have with one another. I write about this subject out of the perspective of Martin Buber and Gustaf Wingren. As I enter this area and begin the writing a few questions are being developed, such as:? Why do we as humans have the need to meet each other?? ?What happens with us when the meeting is absent?? ?What does it mean to love your fellow man or woman?? ?What helps or destroys our possibilities to meet each other?? Buber talks about Me and You and the aim of the meeting we have with each other. When we meet each other it generates a responsibility against each other.

This essay examines how the meaning of an absurd play may be affected by how the reader understands the text. To address this problem I have turned to Wolfgang Isers theory of reception. Primarily I have taken on that the creation of meaning comes about when the reader fills in blanks in the text. I have also used Martin Esslins work on the theater of the absurd. I have mainly studied his research on Harold Pinter.

The present essay aims to understand the work of art as place on the basis of Martin Heidegger?s conception of work in Der Ursprung des Kunstwerkes from 1935. That is, a place that cannot be understood in accordance with the physical-technological space, but which cannot either be thought of as mere temporal spacing. This is accomplished by reading Der Ursprung des Kunstwerkes through the shorter essay Die Kunst und der Raum from 1969. Despite the time difference, Die Kunst und der Raum opens up Der Ursprung des Kunstwerkes in such a way that the work cannot be understood as if it were only a temporal event ? as the cause initiating a temporal process or succession of truth.

Denna uppsats fokuserar på King Hus actionestetik och den montagekonstruerade rörelsen, enligt en konkret syftesformulering som lyder: Att öka förståelsen för King Hus estetiska val genom att belysa vissa rytmiska rörelsetendenser, såsom en konstruktion av filmens montage, och dess relation till två vitt skilda konstyttringar, med dessa avses Pekingoperan och cinéma pur. Ledande tes genom uppsatsen är att Hus visuella stil visserligen är starkt präglad av ett personligt intresse och en djup förståelse för estetiska normer i Pekingoperan, men att han samtidigt genom ett skickligt utnyttjande av cinematiska tekniker skapar en alldeles unik version av kinesisk estetik, som måste förstås som specifik för filmmediet. Sammantaget är förhoppningen att resultatet skall bidra till avmarginaliseringen av Hu som förvaltare till en förment essens av traditionell kinesisk kultur. Metoden består i en jämförande analys av rörligt bildmaterial i två steg, som illustrativ modell och teoretisk ingång till rörelsebegreppet tillämpas Heinrich von Kleists marionett och i dess förlängning även Sergei Eisensteins biomekaniska rakurs.Min analys leder mig till slutsatsen att den rytmiska rörelsen i Hus actionscener har starka likheter med såväl Pekingoperan som cinéma pur, och jag vill på grundval av detta föreslå att Hu snarare bör förstås som en nyskapare av kinesisk estetik, då han positionerar sig någonstans mellan traditionalism och modernism genom att skapa en estetisk jämvikt mellan teater och film där ingenderas legat går förlorad..

Studies of networks, fields and of communicative circulations complement each other. This master thesis is a biographical study of an author and journalist, Gustaf Montgomery GM, his network in Sweden of the early 19th century, and a study of his authorship and literary career. The starting-point of the study is GM:s change of field from the conservative to the liberal in 1832. The aim is to give explanations to this change and to describe how the change in turn effected the network. The method used is critical of sources.

This essay tries to investigate the possibility to reconstruct the concept of mimesis in Martin Heidegger?s hermeneutical phenomenology in Sein und Zeit. Paul Ricoeur?s interpretation of the concept of mimesis in Aristotle?s Poetics, develops a new temporal understanding of the mimetic activity, which Ricoeur in his work Time and Narrative, claims to have the possibility to overcome the aporias in the phenomenology of time. With this criticism as the background context for the present study, seeks this essay to pick up Ricoeur?s new conception of mimesis, and use that in a comparative philosophical reflection on the basic concepts in Heidegger?s Sein und Zeit.

This essay begins with a literature study of the different propagation methods for roses, and a survey of the factors affecting the rooting of cuttings in general and rose cuttings in particular. The main part of the essay consists of a practical study of the rooting of rose cuttings. I have chosen to examine how the time of year when the cuttings are taken, and the position of the cuttings influence the rooting. Three different cultivars were used as mother plants; ?Maria Lisa? and two Burnet roses; ?King of Scots? and ?Poppius?. The mother plants were container grown ?King of Scots? and ?Maria Lisa?, and outdoor grown ?Poppius? and ?Maria Lisa?.

he purpose of this master thesis is to learn more about the ancient Alexandrian Library. The method used in this thesis is methodology of history, especially a critical attitude when it comes to evaluating the ancient texts. I put forward three questions to which I desire to find answers. First: What do the sources from Antiquity tell about the Alexandrian library? Second: How do modern writers of books on the subject use these sources? Thirdly: I look into the possible historical and cultural reasons that the first of the Ptolemaic kings could have had for establishing the Mouseion and the Library of Alexandria.

Denna uppsats behandlar fyra svenska böcker för barn i åldrarna 8 ? 14 år som varit mest utlånade på Halmstad bibliotek under 2008. Titlarna som analyserats är Fixa pengar annars?! av Lena Lilleste, Det brinner! av Laura Trenter, Den danske rånaren av Petter Lidbeck samt Den trettonde gästen av Martin Widmark. Syftet med uppsatsen var att se hur killar och tjejer, samt män och kvinnor, framställs i litteraturen.

The artist Pehr Hilleström has been credited as the founder of the Swedish genre painting. In the second half of the 18th century he began painting everyday subjects of the different social stratums. Today his paintings are noted for their way of showing us the culture of the time since the photograph still had still not been introduced.   Hilleström was a court painter for King Gustav III who wanted him to depict the Swedish people and their different costumes. The king thought the costumes were of great significance for their psychological impact on people and therefore used them as a way to unite the nation psychologically, both by the genre paintings and also by making a national costume. The costumes were used as a symbol of an unbroken tradition and national heritage.
