Läkemedelsbolagens strategier för att begränsa nedgång i marknadsandelar vid patentutgång

The purpose of this thesis is to increase the understanding on how Market leading pharmaceutical companies in Sweden limit the Market share decrease when these companies patent expires. In order to respond to the purpose, two research questions have been asked: how do pharmaceutical companies deal with Market strategies prior to the expiration of a patent: and how the Market strategies is used when a patent has expired and as a consequence, generics entered the Market. A case study was implemented based on two interviews with a brand manager and a therapy area manager within the company Pfizer AB in Sweden. The results suggest that pharmaceutical companies implement strategies in numerous ways which differs substantially from the theories, this having to do with Swedish legislation. The main aim with the execution of the strategy, before and after patent expiration is not to limit a decrease in Market share hence, rather to retain the pharmaceutical companies strong brand image.

This Master thesis was written in collaboration with the Kalmar-based consulting company Sederkvist Kommunikation. The purpose was to explore the Market potential for Sederkvist Kommunikations new software Bellman Marketing. Based on these results a launch plan was created and advoice were given to Sederkvist Kommunikation as to how their new administrative tool could be introduced on the Market. Data were collected through semi-structured telephone interviews. The population was Swedish so called Gazelle-companies (growth-companies listed yearly by the business newspaper Dagens Industri) and totally 27 units were examined.

This thesis investigates the effect of profit growth and profitability on Market capitalization amongst Nordic companies during the turbulent period 1997-2005. Our results suggest that profitability have a significant impact on Market capitalization for six of the nine years studied, whereas profit growth does not seem to affect Market capitalization. Consequently, our results imply that the effect of other factors on share price performance may be greater than previously suggested. These findings are only partly in line with theories on corporate valuation which suggest that Market capitalizations are to a great extent driven by both profit growth and capital returns, regardless of whether the stock Market is particularly unstable..

This thesis aims to find out (1) what coaching activities the coaches used, and (2) how these coaching activities can be understood in the light of previous scientific research. Market Timing och Företagens Kapitalstruktur : Den svenska marknaden

Enligt Market timing-teorin styr marknadens värdering av företag huruvida nya investeringar finansieras med lån eller med nytt eget kapital. Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka om teorin kan förklara svenska företags val av finansiering och således företagens kapitalstruktur. För att uppfylla syftet med uppsatsen har företagsdata insamlats kvartalsvis. Vidare har en regression genomförts mellan de beroende variablerna "Bokförd skuldsättningsgrad" och "Marknadsmässig skuldsättningsgrad" med diverse oberoende variabler för att analysera ifall Market timing-teorin stämmer överens med svenska företag. Av de oberoende variablerna anses marknadsvärdet dividerat med bokfört värde (M/B) bäst förklara Market timing-teorins korrekthet.
