This master?s thesis was performed during the fall of 2006 at Cloetta Fazer AB in Ljungsbro. Cloetta Fazer is the market leader in Scandinavia of Manufacturing confectionary and chocolates. The purpose of the project has been to identify causes that impact the quantity of waste in production as well as a cost/benefit analysis of the solutions that can reduce the problem of production waste.The work includes four production lines that are individually designed depending on what kind of product that are produced on the line. By using qualitative and quantitative methods such as focus groups, interviews and observations data has been collected.

This degree project has been carried out by Oscar Adolfsson and Marcus Blomqvist, during the spring of 2010, both studying to become Bachelor of Science in Innovation and Design Engineering, at Karlstad University. The degree project includes 22,5 credits.The work is done on behalf of Etac Supply Center AB in Anderstorp. Etac is a company developing and Manufacturing home health care products, with operation in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, England and Germany, and with sales worldwide. Bo Lindqvist, R & D manager has been the contact person at Etac.During the project the students has had a workplace at Semcon Caran AB in Karlstad. Semcon has also been helpful as a sounding board.The objective of the work has been developing a new, wall mounted shower chair, assigned for persons with difficulty to stand up while showering.Etacs requirement of the shower chair is that it should be able to support a user with a weight of 100 kg, the chair shouldn?t have any outrigger, optional should be armrests and backrest.

Södra Cell Mörrum is one of the five paper pulp plants that are included in Södra Cell, and the paper pulp that is produced here is not only sold to Swedish paper mills. Most of the paper pulp is exported to different countries in Europe. In the Manufacturing process the plant needs different kind of process water and there are guideline values for how much copper, iron and sodium this water is allowed to contain. Analyzes of this water is in the current situation done with an atomic absorption spectrometric instrument (AAS-instrument) with a flame. Measurements done with flame-AAS of samples that have concentrations near the guideline values for copper, iron and sodium, are not reliable. The reason for not being reliable is that the quantitation limits of these metals are higher than the limit values.

Slöseri är ett stort problem på byggarbetsplatser. Ett koncept där minimering av slöseri ärcentralt är Lean-Manufacturing. Detta arbetes syfte var att utreda hur förbättringsarbeteanvänds på byggarbetsplatser. De befintliga systemen för förbättringar analyserades ochförslag till förbättringar gavs.Genom intervjuer undersöktes hur förbättringsarbete sker på byggarbetsplatser.Egenkontroller och arbetsberedningar användes som kvalitetsarbete på arbetsplatserna. Detvisade sig att de inte har något system för förbättringsarbete.

Företag världen över har valt att implementera produktionsfilosofin Lean och de förknippade verktygen. Flertalet av verktygen är utformade för att uppnå en hög kontroll av produktionsflöden och en detaljerad pålitlig produktionsplanering. Verktygen har dock en utvecklingsgrund från den repetitiva produktionen, där höga volymer produceras av samma produkt med liten variation i bearbetningsprocesser. Det har lett till att dessa inte är beprövade för en mer variationsrik produktion, likt den i de flexibla funktionella verkstäderna. Vidare har det visats att just denna flexibla produktionstyp ter sig vara den mest konkurrenskraftiga för högkostnadsländer gentemot lågkostnadsländer vilket följaktligen påvisat att den icke repetitiva lågvolymsproduktionen utgör allt mer av produktionen i högkostnadsländer.

The purpose of this thesis was to study how an internationalization process to China may appear for a small Swedish enterprise and to identify important factors that may be essential for the process. The focus extends from the point where the enterprise makes its first connection with China up to the point where they are well established. Their business is up and running and they have begun production. To gain a deeper understanding of the subject a gathering of existing theory and research articles was conducted. The gathering of theory yielded knowledge of different approaches and methods that can be used to implement internationalization and provided a greater understanding of cultural and regional differences in China compared to Sweden.

I detta examensarbete har möjligheten att kvalitetssäkra en monteringsbana vid Parker Hannifin Manufacturing Sweden AB:s anläggning i Trollhättan utretts. Syftet med studien var att förbättra kvalitetssäkringen vid Fasta Motorers F11-montering och arbetet baserades på en tidigare utarbetad felläges- och effektanalys. För att styrka kundperspektivet genomfördes en undersökning av vad kunderna reklamerar, i form av PQP-anmälningar samt NCMR-rapporter.Genom att därefter identifiera kritiska monteringsmoment i felläges- och effektanalysen, PQP-anmälningar och NCMR-rapporter, var en prioritering möjlig att utföra. Prioriteringen resulterade i att feltyperna felvridet lagerhus, felplock av material samt kuggfel ansågs vara de mest kritiska att kvalitetssäkra.Målet med arbetet var att reducera det totala risktalsvärdet, vilket var möjligt genom en konceptgenerering samt ett konceptval för de specifika prioriteringarna. I samband med konceptgenereringen undersöktes, genom intervjuer med berörd personal, specifika kundbehov.

This case study is based on a previous documented method of Manufacturing artificial nest containing pre-colored hen eggs. This method is going to be used to find, if the wild boar population, which is growing in number, is a threat to the capercaillie population.  In comparison to the wild boar population, the capercaillie population is diminishing in different parts of Sweden.  In order to find out if they are affect by each other, the case study was carried out during the months of April to May 2009. 100 artificial nests were placed out on various locations on the Södertuna estate just in the outskirts of Gnesta. The unique aspect of this study is that a fenced environment to keep out wild animals is used to conduct this study, which has been previously known to be free from wild boar, but the area outside has sittings of wild boar. So to fully understand how this affects the capercaillie population, 50 of the nests were placed outside the fence area, while the other 50 nests were placed inside the fenced area. The sites were visited on two separate occasions, and were noted of the changes inside and outside the fenced compounds.

This thesis was conducted at Linköping University and Saab Aerostructures DPS, Linköping, and focuses on the possibilities of flexible fixturing in machining applications. The thesis is part of the research project "Koofix", which is collaboration between Linköping University and a number of companies.The thesis is aimed towards small batch production which, for Saab Aerostructures DPS, means diverse part geometry and that parts are manufactured in very small numbers, sometimes just one piece. The result of this is that expensive dedicated fixtures are made for most parts. By introducing more flexible fixturing methods to this kind of production the cost of fixtures and tooling will be reduced, and make the production more efficient.New flexible fixturing methods has been presented and evaluated through the thesis, which has resulted in three different concepts. These concepts have been the result of literature screening and study of current Manufacturing process at Saab Aerostructures DPS.

The aim of this study was to investigate how the process of implementing a quality management system for food safety was handled in four different food producing companies in Sweden. The aim was also to analyze what difficulties the companies face and the possibilities that arise when certified. Furthermore, the reason for implementation was discussed as well as the main expectations on the certificate. Implementing a quality management system is a good way of ensuring the quality and hygiene of the food production and it also increases the traceability of food products through the whole food chain. A food safety standard provides a method of preventing problems and crisis and it can also help to handle requirements from authorities, the market and others.

Increased understanding of the mechanisms that operate in conjunction with the welding of metal surfaces may help to improve existing Manufacturing processes, and to enable new products and combinations of materials. The purpose of the project has therefore been to acquire a deeper understanding of what is happening in the bond for steel and for the factors that form the basis for a bond to develop between metals in the production of laminates by pressing. The merge has been done by pressing and the surfaces after the experiments have been studied in detail in the scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and with interferenceprofilometry in Wyko, to provide a greater understanding of the mechanisms that influence the bonding in the interface between metals. The project was limited to contain the materials Docol 1000, HyTens 1200, Aluminum AA3003 and a commercial steel. The parameters varied in the experiments to study their influence closer are temperature, pressure, heat treatment and pretreatment. This has been implemented by pressing with varying temperature and pressure.

Industrialization of construction is by some considered to be a solution to the building industry's problems about the lack of quality, high production costs, low productivity and poor environmental adaptation. Meanwhile, industrialized construction partly earned a bad reputation after the million housing program. As large-scale projects where promoted during this period, it worked very well to use the technique of construction elements. In the mid seventies though, criticism arose which claimed that the aesthetic qualities had been deprived in the corporates effort to make housing production as efficient as possible.Tyréns, Derome and CBBT (centre for building and housing in wood) cooperates in a development project to develop a building system for 4-8-storey buildings, consisting of three platforms: a technology platform, an IT platform and a processing platform. The technology platform consists of flexible, industrially built flat modules of wood and from this platform the subsystem stairwells, is broken out.

The study also consists of a valuation of what an emballage supplier can offer to add value to their services.Method: The study is based on interviews with people who are working at Volvo Logistics and Volvo Car Corporation. Volvo Logistics provide their customers with standard packaging material, which they own and administrate. Volvo Car Corporation is one of their customers.

Huvudmålet med detta examensarbete var att undersöka om det för Södra timber är ekonomiskt hållbart att tillverka engångspallar till pelletsproduktionens tilltänkta säckningsanläggning i Långasjö, gentemot att köpa in engångspallar från en extern leverantör. Detta gäller då för 30 000 engångspallar om året.Intervjuer togs på Södra timber i Långasjö om vilket virke som var lämpligt från företagets sida att bli av med. Detta visade sig vara brädor av 19x75 mm och 75x75 mm. Dessutom beslutades i ett tidigt skede att en engångspall med måtten 1200x800 mm är en bra lösning då detta är europastandardens mått. Olika alternativ togs fram för hur man skulle kunna ta fram materialet och sänka produktionskostnaderna och avsåg då brädor 19x75 och klossvirke 75x75.

International trade in services has increased over the past 30 years as a result of progress in information and communication technology, increased focus on services from the Manufacturing sector and the establishment of trade associations.The international market for healthcare services, also referred to as medical tourism, is growing more and more. Patients increasingly seeking treatment at other countries healthcare systems because of long queues within their own country or because it exists better prices for the same care abroad. However, this type of service exports occurs at a limited extent in Sweden.The purpose of this study is to highlight and analyze the conditions for Swedish service companies to export healthcare services. This, includes the challenges and opportunities that exist to expand the exports of these services.The approach for this study has been in the form of interviews with two market actors and written responses, from the same interview guide, with three market actors. These market participants are the so-called Care companies which export healthcare services in various counties, and the membership organization Swecare who work with export promotion activities for its members in the Swedish healthcare sector.
