The study also consists of a valuation of what an emballage supplier can offer to add value to their services.Method: The study is based on interviews with people who are working at Volvo Logistics and Volvo Car Corporation. Volvo Logistics provide their customers with standard packaging material, which they own and administrate. Volvo Car Corporation is one of their customers. I started the project with a study of the reports and articles.Conclusions: During the study I recognised that the customer uses two concepts: emballage and förpackning. Emballage is a concept for pallets and boxes. Förpackning is a wider concept that consists of emballage, the packaging material inside the emballage, packaging patterns and how the package fulfils all the demands.There are a lot of parameters that drives the customers choice of packaging and these parameters are related to each other. I have created a model which purpose is to make the choice easier.During the interviews I found out that the logistic people have different understandings about the total packaging costs and which factors this cost consist of.If Volvo Logistics want to be a competitive company in the future is it very important that they understand their customers, are good at marketing and offer an added value to their services.
