Studie av internt materialflöde vid Volvo Pentas fabrik i Vara
Within today?s organizations there is continual development work to increase efficiency and the power to compete at the market. Production development with focus on continual improvements constitutes an important part of the daily work within a lot of organizations today.The purpose of this study is to contribute to a part of the development process that Volvo Penta factory in Vara has in mind. A description of the current situation was compiled by mapping the internal runnings and material flow throughout the factory. A new suggestion for a layout and a comparison with the current situation will assist with creating a factual basis for the development of a new goods reception.A study was made where the volumes and the quantity of the daily arrival goods were settled.
Utredning av pallsprängning med lutande borrhål i Aitik
Examensarbetet har utförts vid Boliden Mineral AB dagbrott i Aitik under perioden 2011-03-28 till 2011-06-01. Syftet med examensarbetet var att göra en utvärdering av pallsprängning lutande borrhål för att se om fragmenteringen förbättrades. Dessutom studera andra effekter som påverkas av fragmentering, t.ex. antal icke hanterbara block (stenar större än 1m3), flöde i primär krossanläggning och grävbarhet. Studien genomfördes genom att en försökssalva sprängdes, där en del av borrhålen var vertikala och den andra delen bestod av lutande borrhål.

Driving simulators are a very important part of the research that is done at VTI. Enhancing the realism and creating a better driving experience in the simulators are very important and an ongoing work process for the engineers and researchers who work with the simulators. This project has been done as a part of this developing process and the purpose is to enhance the realism of the rear-view mirrors.Simulating realistic rear-view mirrors has been demanded, not only from the researchers at VTI, but also from car and truck manufacturers. To achieve a realistic mirror view a method to measure and parameterize real mirrors has been developed. The code for the existing graphics system has also been redone to be able to handle the new types of mirrors introduced..
Vibrationsdämpat maskinhus för skjutstativtruck
En skjutstativtruck är en truck med hög acceleration och den aktuella modellen kan köras i hastigheter upp till 14 km/h. När trucken framförs på ojämna underlag, exempelvis slitna industrigolv, fortplantas vibrationer från underlaget genom chassit till maskinhuset. Dessa vibrationer orsakar spänningsökningar och slitage på delarna i maskinhuset och påverkar föraren negativt. För att förbättra miljön för föraren och truckens komponenter ska möjligheten till ett vibrationsdämpat maskinhus undersökas och ett koncept på en möjlig lösning genereras. För att validera att lösningen reducerar vibrationerna som fortplantas från chassit till maskinhuset konstrueras en förenklad prototyp.Projektet har delats upp i olika konceptfaser med enskilda mål.
Beräkning av massa genom mätning av hydraultryck
Vår uppgift var att ta fram en algoritm för hur lastens massa förhåller sig till hydraultrycket i ett hydraulsystem för en truck. Algoritmen skulle sedan implementeras i en vågprototyp. Lösningen skulle vara kostnadseffektiv.För att undersöka sambandet utfördes mätserier där vi provade olika komponenter. Resultatet av mätserierna analyserades och vi fann ett samband mellan massan och hydraultrycket. Med hjälp av sambandet kunde sedan programkod för en vågprototyp skrivas tillsammans med tillhörande funktioner.Resultatet blev en fungerande vågprototyp för trucken som användes.

This report is about how to decide which method is the most suitable as floor covering at projectKlammerdamm in the centre of Halmstad. The covering has to be fire resistant and soundproof inorder to protect the wood structure and stop noise from traveling between apartments. There aretwo possibilities either traditional gypsum board or gypsum-based self leveling underlayment.The roads around the construction site are narrow. A regular twenty-five meter long truck has nopossibility to reach the site. The construction site is small and the storage area is limited.

It has been even more important in the forest sector in recent years to look at the whole chain from suppliers to end users, to improve operations and improve performance and the profits of the company. The research and development have been concentrated on the buyer?s market and product development, probably because this research has capability to give an increased cash flow. But to obtain stability and continuity in the production and selling units, the suppliers should also be investigated. The aim of this thesis is to study a one company's existing suppliers of roundwood and investigate the differences and attitudes they have about the company offerings.
Teknisk och ekonomisk analys av en bränslekonvertering vid SIA TallOils pelletsfabrik :
At SIA TallOil's pellets factory in Latvia wood shavings and saw dust are dried with flue gases from a gas burner. TallOil wants to replace the gas with a biofuel that is available at the pellet plant. The reason for this is the unstable gas market in Europe in combination with the fact that TallOil wants to improve its profile as supplier of renewable bio fuels. In this project the technical and economical possibilities for a fuel conversion to ether bark powder, wood shavings or wood powder have been investigated. These fuels should be burned in one of the following applications: TPS BioSwirl, VTS Multifuel burner or Saxlunds bio fuel combustion plant
Due to the fact that the fuel alternatives available are relatively common except for bark powder, the work has mainly been focused on bark powder.
Hållfasthetsegenskaper i gjutjärn : tensile properties of cast iron
In the last few years people have become more and more aware of how humanity is affecting the climate. In the direction of reducing the greenhouse gases is to design engines with higher tensile properties and reduced weight, in order to achieve lower fuel consumption and cleaner fuel incineration in today's truck engines.In order to achieve these requirements it?s necessary to increase the combustion pressure in the engine. This requires higher tensile properties and high thermal conductivity of the engine material. The department of Component Technology at the University of Jönköping in collaboration with Volvo Powertrain AB, Scania CV AB and DAROS Piston Rings AB has been commissioned to develop this material and to find knowledge of material properties used in truck engines and piston rings used for marine applications.The purpose with this work is to analyze the tensile properties of a series of cast iron, cast under different metallurgical conditions.Four different series of cast irons have been analyzed from four points of view, carbon concentration, nodularity, amount inoculation and cooling rate.After the tensile test all specimen data was analyzed in a mathematic calculation program called Matlab 2006a.
Mean value modelling of a poppet valve EGR-system
Because of new emission and on board diagnostics legislations, heavy truck manufacturers are facing new challenges when it comes to improving the engines and the control software. Accurate and real time executable engine models are essential in this work. One successful way of lowering the NOx emissions is to use Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR). The objective of this thesis is to create a mean value model for Scania's next generation EGR system consisting of a poppet valve and a two stage cooler. The model will be used to extend an existing mean value engine model.
Masskattning av tunga fordon i realtid genom systemidentifiering
As trucks are getting more and more advanced, information about their weight has become a key factor for controlling them in a more fuel efficient and safe manner. Knowing the mass of a heavy duty vehicle in real time has been a difficult challenge for the truck manufacturers. With the processing power for electronic control units in trucks steadily increasing, more advanced algorithms for calculating the mass has been developed, but at the moment there still is a wish for better performance.Since there is a lack of good information regarding the external forces acting on the vehicle, forces that depends on the slope of the road, foundation of the road and the wind, the methods have to be able to disregard these. Such an approach, based on an indirect least square solution, has been evaluated in this thesis. The results have been promising and based on these a recommendation about further evaluation has been made..
Datorsimulering av gruvlastare för funktionell testning
I denna rapport presenteras hur en simulatorlösning för funktionstestning av en gruvmaskin har tagits fram. Arbetet har skett i Atlas Copcos regi och består av tre delar: kartläggning i form av intervjuer, utvärdering av befintliga simulatoralternativ och slutligen val och implementation av lösning. Resultatet visar på en konceptuell prototyp, där en gruvmaskin visualiseras i en 3D-miljö tillsammans med en virtuell gruvgång. Detta möjliggör bland annat testning av autonom navigering, alltså att en gruvmaskin självständigt styr utifrån avläsning av tunnelväggar med hjälp av laser. Samtidigt tillåter lösningen också att kontrollvärden från olika sensorer, såsom vinkelgivare, kan hämtas ut ur simuleringen..
Lagerprogram för Satellitlager
Texo Application has created robots that they call for satellites; with these you can feed in storage pallets into a satellite storage. Satellite storages consist of channels in height (e.g.3 to 8 pieces) and width (e.g.3 to 100 pieces). Channels can be different long (e.g. 5 to 200 pallets). At deposit of a storage pallet the truck insert the satellite in a channel and then the pallet, the pallet is driven into the channel until it reaches another pallet or the other end.

AB Karl Hedin is a private owned sawmilling company with 500 employees. The company?s turnover is 1500 million SEK, it includes 4 sawmills, 16 builders merchants stores and a packaging company.
