Swedish Encyclopaedias and the Explanatory Perspective of History, Essay in History AbstractIn my essay I describe how Swedish 20th century encyclopaedias interpret the coming about of the British Empire, the overall purpose being to establish a pattern of evolution in terms of historical understanding on the part of the encyclopaedic literature. Firstly, I have tried to determine whether the presentations at all constitute explanatory efforts. In those cases where they do, I have sought to ascertain whether the reasons put forward are to be understood as structural and stable, or as matters of less permanence. I have also tried to link these interpretations to significant ?constructions? of history ? i.

This master thesis has been carried out as a prototype development project. The project hasbeen performed in cooperation with ÅF Combra AB. The purpose with the master thesis is toconstruct a Bluetooth interface between an accelerometer and a smartphone and constructinga physical prototype containing an accelerometer. This is done to test a new user interface tomobile phones. The master thesis has also included a research about the possibility toimplement distance measuring with Bluetooth.

The purpose of this study is to look at of how the Swedish newspapers framed this specific event; we wanted to find the dominated similarities and differences in the different articles as well as see if our domestic perspective appeared in the frames. In order to come to a conclusion we first read all the material published between the dates of the 2th to the 17th of October in our chosen newspapers, we then did a mapping schedule and sorted through the articles, two of our main sorting points were ?the dominating framing? and ?the dominating operator? in each and every article.

This thesis analyses the 2005 UK presidency of the Council, and more particularly the negotiations on the future financing of the European Union. The purpose of the study is to discuss whether the holding of the presidency implies political influence for the member state. To analyse the power of the country holding the chair the thesis focuses on the presidency functions of brokering and leadership. The theory suggests that the influence of the presidency is derived from informational and procedural power resources, as well as some leadership resources, such as coercion and reward. A case study was used to analyse whether these power resources were used by the British presidency.

By using open interviews we have been able to get an open dialog with our respondents.Theory: We have compared with different theories, such as Rombach?s budget-theory and Wildavsky?s role theory.Empirics: The material is based on interviews and conversations with key figures in different levels of the organisations in Landskrona and Kristianstad.Conclusions: The success of a cost-saving process depends on the engagement, awareness and how inclined to changes the persons in the organisations are. Has everybody the willingness to take responsibility fore the organisation and the changes that the surrounding world claims?.

The IPv6 protocol offers with some new functions, one of them is auto configuration. With auto configuration it is possible for nodes, i.e. hosts and routers, for automatically associated with IPv6 addresses without manual configuration. Auto configuration it is another protocol as it uses Neighbor Discovery protocol (ND) messages (ND is mandatory in the IPv6 stack). The main purpose of ND is that nodes can discover other nodes on the local link, perform address resolution, check that addresses are unique, and check the reachability with active nodes.There are exactly the same vulnerabilities of IPv6 as IPv4 and is now exception, ND if not properly secured.

Äldre som bor på särskilt boende är beroende av att den personal som arbetar i verksamheten samverkar för att resurserna ska tas till vara på bästa sätt och därigenom tillförsäkra den boende skälig levnadsnivå. Syftet med studien var att, med fokus på ansvar och arbetsuppgifter, beskriva samverkan mellan områdeschef och sjuksköterska på ett särskilt boende. I studien användes en kvalitativ datainsamlingsmetod i form av intervjuer. Områdeschef är den som har budget- och personalansvar och ansvar för verksamheten, och sjuksköterskan har det medicinska ansvaret. Studien visar att upplevelsen av samverkan på det särskilda boendet är positivt.

The aim with this master thesis is to study which ambitions and strategic aims Gothenburg?s district libraries have regarding their music sections. I have utilized my theory from Sanna Talja, a Finnish researcher in Library and Information Science. She identifies three perspectives in maintaining a music library. She calls them, general education, alternative and demand.

Objective: 1.4 million people in Sweden state that they are having problems with hearing and the majority havehad no contact with the hearing rehabilitation services. To have a hearing loss seems to be associated withseveral negative attributes. This could be due to bad attitude and insufficient knowledge on hearing loss intoday?s society.Purpose: The purpose with this study was to map the adult populations attitude towards hearing loss and selfratedknowledge of hearing with a survey.Methods: A web survey was made for this study. An official link to the survey was shared from two Facebookaccounts to a total of 997 contacts and a total of 247 responses were collected.Results: The majority of the respondents have estimated their general knowledge of hearing to fairly extensivefollowed by very small.

SammanfattningAtt den fysiska aktiviteten är självklar för mig innebär inte att den är det för alla. De senaste åren har vi hört och sett hur tidningar tar upp att personer blir mer överviktiga och att fler blir mer inaktiva. Jag är intresserad av att ta reda på hur det ser ut i våra fritidshem och hur de arbetar med fysisk aktivitet, att även se om de yttre förutsättningarna har någon positiv eller negativ påverkan i verksamheten. Genom att göra intervjuer och se hur det ser ut i olika fritidshem och hur de arbetar med fysisk aktivitet. Dessa intervjuer har jag kategoriserat in i inom tätorten och utanför tätort för att se om det finns skillnader i verksamheterna.Genom intervjuerna framkommer att pedagogerna har samma syn på vad fysisk aktivitet är och de arbetar på ungefär samma sätt.

Recent years there has been discussed how the critical situation in the housing market threatens the Stockholm region's growth. The thesis objective is to examine whether there is a scientific link between the lack of housing supply and growth. The thesis also intends to identify solutions for increased housing construction, for instance by examining the conditions for a greater regional perspective and influence on the region's housing supply. The thesis empirical study is based on semi-structured interviews with representatives from the Government, municipalities and the housing industry.In Sweden, research on the relationship between housing shortages and growth has not been conducted to that extent it can be said to exist scientific evidence regarding the growth threat. However, in Britain and the U.S, empirical studies show that a lack of housing supply has hindered growth through negative impact on countries' gross domestic product.

The aim of this Master?s thesis is to investigate the factors of children?s voluntarily reading in their spare time. We also want to know if the children choose non-fiction books for their voluntarily reading. The method as well as the empirical basis of this study is qualitative, with interviews of twenty-eight children in ages between 9 and 12 years. We conducted nine interviews with 3?4 children in each group.

Syftet med studien var att undersöka ledares upplevelse efter ett ledarutvecklingsprogram och om den eventuellt bidragit till värden för att underlätta en större organisationsförändring inom offentlig sektor samt om utbildningen kan rekommenderas till nya ledare. Utbildningens avsikt var att stärka ledarnas roller och vara ett stöd i den nya organisationens uppsatta mål. Två grupper (deltagit, ej deltagit i utbildningen) av kvinnliga enhetschefer inom omsorgsförvaltningen deltog i undersökningen vars data kvalitativt analyserades. Resultatet visade att utbildningen bidragit med större förståelse för kommunens helhetsperspektiv och komplexitet vad gäller ekonomiska resurser och solidaritet över förvaltningsgränser då ledare från olika förvaltningar deltagit. Vidare att kommunikationen med andra ledare och utbyte av erfarenheter och kunskaper bidragit till stöd, kunskap och bildande av kontaktnät vilka varit värdefulla för ledarskapets roll och kommunen som helhet.

The aim of this Master?s thesis is to examine the environmental scanning by the employees and politicians at the central administration at the County Council of Kalmar län. The background of the study is the closing of the administration library in January 2003, which gave more tasks to the hospital libraries of the County Council.The main questions of this study concerns the information needs of the employees and politicians, what electronic sources they prefer to use to satisfy those needs and if they are experiencing a need for more support and help, from a librarian or by the development of a common catalogue of hyperlinks. All 104 persons in the population were asked to answer a questionnaire on the Intranet. The task was performed by 60 persons.
