My main question is as follows: What motive compels childrens Librarians in their work with small children, and will Vygotskys theories be recognised in their statements. I have two questions as a base for this main question: How do childrens Librarians work with small children, and do they utilise any special methods in their work? How do childrens Librarians view their work tasks, and what do they deem to be of importance regarding small children and libraries? The thesis is based on qualitative interviews. Indexering av skönlitteratur en empirisk kvalitativ studie av indexering och språk
The aim of this essay is to investigate how patrons, Librarians and indexers use subject headings to describe and index fiction literature. We wanted to know if the groups concentrated on different levels in the text from a semiotic viewpoint, where words either can describe the manifest/connotative meaning or the latent/denotative. To investigate this we had four fiction indexers, four Librarians working with fiction for adults and eight library users read and index four short stories. After that we did interviews asking them about how they were thinking when describing the texts, how they use subject headings, about their opinions on indexing and, in the interviews with the Librarians and indexers, about their usual work assignments. The subject headings they listed were analysed according to the level they described.
Bibliotekariens yrkesidentitet och biblioteket som upplevelsecentrum
The aim of this Bachelor?s thesis is to investigate the public librarian?s professional identity and its relation to the public library as an experience centre. The development of the library as an experience centre raises questions about how public Librarians understand their professional identity, and about their motives for working with activities like workshops and qigong, activities that have no significant connection with the librarian?s traditional tasks. The data was collected via semi-structured interviews exploring the perspectives and points of view of four public Librarians.
