ABSTRACTIntroduction: An increasing number of patients undergo surgery under local anesthesia and are thereforeawake during the procedure. Nursing care that is provided to these patients can differ from those thatreceive general anesthesia. Previous research has focused on patients? general experiences of being awakeintraoperative. But there is no research that focuses on patients perceptions of security.

Over the next few years, major investments in healthcare buildings is to be performed. Most surgical theaters are in need of technological upgrades as the technology is outdated. In most cases not only a refurbishment is performed but also an expansion. The basis for expansion, is due to a large increased number of patients, but also to the complexity of the refitment. AbstractOur purpose was to understand how social workers experience the possible complexities that working with economical aid can entail. As an example we chose to focus on long-term economical aid work. We aimed to address the question of which factors could affect their work. In a prior study, done by Dellgran & Höjer (2003) the conclusion was drawn  that  the combination of economical aid, healthcare and schools makeup a third of  practical social work in the terms of the proportion of the amount of social workers, but only 8 percent of the research is done in those areas. Other studies (Stranz, 2007) demonstrate that the research that is done on working with economical aid is deficient.

Scania är en av världens ledande tillverkare av lastbilar för tunga transporter, bussar samt industri- och marinmotorer. I Södertälje finns bland annat deras axelmontering. Axelmonteringen är indelad i tre monteringslinjer; bakaxelline, framaxelline och specialaxelline.Syftet med detta examensarbete är att kartlägga nuvarande specialaxelline och utvärdera denna med hjälp av olika metoder från lean produktion.Därefter identifiera aktiviteter för att minska slöserier, för att optimera monteringslinjen med avseende på volym och/eller bemanning.Kartläggningen av nuläget visade att drygt 40 % av de aktiviteter som montörerna utför är icke-värdeskapande, där den största slöserikällan är olika typer av rörelse. Det gick även att se att beläggningen på de olika positionerna varierar stort och generellt är låg.Utifrån dessa insikter arbetades 15 förbättringsförslag fram. Förslagen delades in i tre grupper beroende på om de kan införas med omkostnader, investeringar eller produktförändringar.

This study examines counselors understanding of body fixation (alt: body image fixation) as a social problem among young women aged 15-25 years. Earlier research on this subject highlights the standards and ideals placed on the female body where happiness is associated with a slim body figure. Research has shown that young women that compare their own bodies with others are at higher risk at developing an unhealthy relationship with their body, which can lead to eating disorders. The data for this study was collected through semi-structured interviews with nine counselors from youth clinics, schools and primary healthcare. The results were interpreted and analysed in the light of social constructionist perspective as developed by Berger & Luckmann and Loseke's social constructionist definition of social problems.

The progress of the health among the elderly has a major meaning for the needs of care, nursing and social services. The health of the elderly has improved but fall and fall accidents are a major problem. Acute diseases, activities and environment risks are often related to fall accidents. The aim of the study was to describe health care staffs? opinions about fall risk and fall prevention.

Marknadsstrukturen för djursjukvården har förändrats på grund av de riskkapitalbolag som sedan slutet av 2011 började visa starkt intresse och köpte upp ca 85 djursjukhus och djurkliniker runtom i Sverige. Från att ha varit kraftigt decentraliserad har nu djursjukvården på kort tid omstrukturerats till några få stora koncerner som till stor del dominerar branschen. Med detta som bakgrund är det högst aktuellt att skapa en förståelse för vad ägarförändringen och omstruktureringen i den svenska privatdjursjukvårdsbranschen har medfört för effekter på personalens arbetsmiljö i de riskkapitaluppköpta företagen. Tidigare forskning har visat att företagsuppköp har effekter för personalens arbetsmiljö. De effekter som studeras är personalens upplevelse av arbetsuppgifter, arbetsbelastning, engagemang, arbetsplatsbyte, rekrytering och uppsägning efter riskkapitalbolagens uppköp.

Värdeflödesanalys är ett ofta använt verktyg inom förbättringskonceptet Lean och syftar till att eliminera slöserier i processer och erhålla en högre resurseffektivitet. Värdeflödesanalys har sitt ursprung i produktionssektorn men har utvecklats till att användas också inom tjänstesektorn även om det fortfarande inte tillämpas i lika stor utsträckning där. Reklamationsprocessen är just en sådan tjänsteprocess som detta examensarbete syftar till att undersöka.Målsättningen är att framlägga resultat som bidrar till att ABB Control Products kan lämna svar till kund inom 10 arbetsdagar från mottagande av returnerad produkt. För detta ändamål kartläggs ett antal avslutade reklamationsärenden bestående av produktfamiljerna kontaktorer, mjukstartare och tryckknappar. Dessutom följs ett mjukstartarfall i realtid genom reklamationsprocessen för att direkt kunna observera hur arbetet går till.Det kan konstateras att den främsta anledningen till att ledtiden för reklamationsärenden idag är för lång är att det samlas stora lager vid varje processteg.

Studiens syfte var att med fokus på frivilligt arbete inom social omsorg och med hjälp av BRIS telefonjouarers egna berättelser, få en bild om vad som motiverade människor som arbetade frivilligt. Studiens frågeställningar var följande: Vad motiverade människor till frivilligt arbete på BRIS? Varför valde man att arbeta på just BRIS och inte någon annan ideell organisation? Varför valde man att engagera sig ideellt och inte professionellt i någon organisation inom liknande område? Fanns det några gemensamma nämnare bland telefonjourarna på BRIS? Studien skapades med hjälp av en kvalitativ metod. Vi intervjuade sju telefonjourare och med stöd av deras berättelse, försökte vi få en bild om motivationen bakom deras frivilliga arbete på BRIS. Vidare analyserade vi den samlade empirin med hjälp av ?meningskoncentrering?.

AbstractThe purpose of this paper was to examine preschool teacher?s thoughts about using Manual Signs as Alternative and Augmentative Communication as an aid for children in/with communication disabilities. The method I?ve used in the survey is qualitative interview.The three interviewed preschool teachers use Manual Signs foremost for those children who have a poorly developed spoken language. Manual Signs are used as a complement to the spoken language and the preschool teachers use it to increase the children?s power of concentration.

The purpose of our study is to examine what risk factors can contribute to a child/youth with neuropsychiatric disorders developing an addiction to drugs. We also wanted to find out what protective factors can contribute not to develop an addiction. In order to find out these two different aspects we interviewed twelve professionals to get their view upon the matter. The professionals work within different sectors such as school, healthcare, social services and one of the interviewed is a member of an organization that specialises in neuropsychiatric disorders.When analysing our result of the interviews we used Bronnfenbrenner´s theory on the ecology of human development. What we found was that there are significant risk factors and protective factors on different levels of the child's environment.On the first level, the microsystem, interpersonal relations have an impact on the child's development.

The aim of the study was to explore the methods used in horticultural therapy gardens in rehabilitating people suffering from fatigue syndrome. Nine horticultural therapy gardens were contacted of wich three chose to participate. Using case study as method e-mail interviews was carried out with the participants about their establishment and what kind of theories they based their methods upon. The material collected from the interviews was complemented with additional data from the establishments web pages and information pamphlets. Collected data was processed trough content analysis and then formed as background for the development of a program theory for horticultural therapy.

A Study of the Swedish Press Views on the Health Insurance Reform in the USA? The purpose of this essay is partly to examine whether the picture that Swedish press presents of the health insurance reform in the US, which is part of the Patient Protection and Affordable Act bill, will be of crucial importance to the possibilities that the American population has to receive health insurance. The main research question is accordingly: ?Does the picture that Swedish press presents of the health insurance reform in the USA, seem like something that will be of radical importance to the possibilities of the population to receive healthcare?? The purpose is also to examine in which model (demand or market) the opinions of the Swedish press fits. This purpose will be answered by using three specific questions asking whether their opinions differ when it comes to three criterions: organization, financing/resources and delivery systems.

For centuries inbreeding has been used to refine traits in dogs, making desired traits more hereditary and thereby, different breeds have been invented. Breed standards have been written for each of these breeds, describing in detail the different characteristics of each breed. When humans start to choose which animal to breed from, so called artificial selection, taste is put before function and the laws of nature, the natural selection, cease to apply. During this development, pedigree dogs have gone towards more and more extreme exterior characteristics and the dogs may have inherited various, more or less, severe problems for example compromised vision, impaired ability to move and difficulties to breathe. However they can still survive and reproduce because humans provide them with the conditions to do so.
