Context. Performance and resource usage is often an important factor for database driven services. Depending on the purpose of the application, choosing the wrong type of database may require unnecessary hardware upgrades or replacements. Objectives. This study investigates the differences in performance and resource usage between different SQL- and NoSQL-databases. The study is a comparison that focuses on how the databases perform in different applications.

Sjukvården har stora krav på förbättrings- och effektiviseringsarbete. På många sjukhus ilandet implementeras lean som ett sätt att uppnå dessa mål. Här liksom i allt förändringsarbeteär det viktigt att följa upp och utvärdera resultatet.Syfte:Att undersöka om vårdtiden förändrats för patienter som genomgått hjärtkirurgi(kranskärls- eller hjärtklaffskirurgi) samt om de upplever någon skillnad påutskrivningsinformation och uppföljning efter hemkomst, efter att lean införts.Metod:Deskriptiv tvärsnittsstudie. Undersökningsgruppen bestod av 60 patienter opereradeföre (n=30) och efter (n=30) att leanmodellen implementerats. Svarsfrekvensen var 95 %.Resultat:Ingen skillnad har påvisats i vårdtid före och efter leaninförandet.

When a company seeks to enter a new market, the multiple choices of possible new business relationships exist. The choice of focusing on the Business-to-Business relationship between a manufacturer and a dealership company originates from being influenced by the issues facing the Swedish agricultural machinery manufacturer Väderstad-Verken AB, who is putting attention to explore the US market.

Lean is aconcept that was developed within the Japanese automotive industry, but has evolvedfrom the Japanese shop floor and is now a concept that can be found in, for example,several Swedish municipalities.Purpose: The purpose of this study was to create an understanding of why the conceptLean may have difficulty getting a hold in the in the long term.Methodology: The study was done with a qualitative research approach and through anabductive approach. As we intended to create an understanding, of what potentialbarriers that may affect that a Lean work, in some cases, does not become a long-termcondition, it seemed natural to choose a hermeneutic approach to knowledge. Theempirical data collected via individual unstructured interviews, through a groupinterview, and by non-participant observations.

The paper discusses the problems contemporary Swedish art criticism faces when judging performance art and interactive art. Problems include among others that performance art is collectively ignored in Swedish newspaper art criticism. This prevents art critics from fair contextualising of contemporary performance art. Down in the rabbit hole, performance by Tris Vonna-Michell and its reception exemplifies these problems. Performance and interactive art seems to be disturbing art critics.

In recent decades, demands has emerged that the companies shall take a greater social responsibility for the impact that they have on their environment and that this impact shall be reported, which is known as Sustainability Reporting. The Sustainability Report is based on a number of general principles that ensure the content and the quality of the Sustainability Report. One of these principles is the principle of completeness. In the research, this principle seems to have been interpreted in terms of number of reported aspects and indicators, which can be a limited view where only the existence of the aspects and indicators is observed. By including the degree of the reporting in terms of full, partial and no reporting as well as a comparison between the real and the alleged reporting, our intention is to extend the principle of completeness and to develop a tool that we also apply through an empirical survey in a particular area.

Denna studie behandlar ett försök att applicera Lean-teorier på informationshantering. Lean är ett managementkoncept som togs fram i USA under 60- och 70-talet. Dess popularitet har gått i vågor men är idag en utbredd standard inom bil- och verkstadsindustrin. Grundstenarna i Lean-filosofin är att hantera resurser snålt genom att eliminera slöseri och processer som inte tillför värde till kunden. Att applicera Lean-teorier på informationshantering är ett relativt nytt och i dagsläget finns ej vedertagna och allmänt erkända verktyg och metoder.

The purpose with this essay is to examine how arts and politics integrate to raise urgent messages and call upon social changes. Performance art as an artistic manifestation against the surveillance society has been studied to clarify this integration and through an empirical examination of the anarchistic performance group The Surveillance Camera Players. This group formed in New York City 1996 as a manifestation against the increased use of surveillance cameras in public places in Manhattan. Through performance in front of these cameras, The Surveillance Camera Players are able to express their protest against the surveillance society which, occurring to them, violates citizens constitutionally right to privacy. The development and signification of the surveillance society are examined through theoretical perspective by foremost Michel Foucault, but also by contemporary scientist in that field.

This thesis examines underpricing and the long run performance of IPO firms on the Swedish equity market during 1994-2010. We further investigate whether any correlation exist between underpricing and post-IPO performance during 36 months. We use a sample of 80 IPO firms. To examine the aftermarket performance we compare total return of each firm with a matching industry index. In order to strengthen our analysis, we run a second test, comparing actual return for each firm with expected return, adjusted for firm specific risk.

Organisationer ställs kontinuerligt inför allt större utmaningar som globalisering, ökad konkurrens och ökade kundförväntningar. En av de mest framgångsrika metoderna för att hantera dess utmaningar är att implementera lean i verksamheten. Trots att lean har fått stor spridning inom tillverkningsindustrier har spridningen till företag där produktionen karaktäriseras av hög variation och låg volym (HVLV-företag) varit begränsad. En del forskare hävdar att lean är möjligt att applicera på dessa typer av industrier medan andra forskare menar att lean har en begränsad tillämplighet inom HVLV-företag. Med denna bakgrund har syftet med examensarbetet varit att med hjälp av två fallstudier på gjuteriet på Valmet AB belysa möjligheten att applicera lean på HVLV-företag.

På grund av en ökad befolkningsmängd och nya tekniker som gör fler sjuka går att bota ställs nya krav på svensk sjukvård. Sjukvården måste möta de nya kraven med ett bättre effektivare resursanvändande och där till krävs nya förbättringsmetoder. Med influenser från industriell tillverkning har sjukvården omarbetat lean production för att skapa ett universellt förbättringsverktyg som lämpar sig för vårdorganisationer. Verktyget kallas lean healthcare och är omdiskuterat och dess effekter tvetydiga. Att undersöka om och hur värdeflöden i en akutmottagnings triage, som innebär en prioritering efter patienters allvarlighetsgrad, kan effektiviseras med hjälp av ett flödesorienterat arbetssätt som lean.

SammanfattningLean har fått stor uppmärksamhet i många olika yrkesområden och i de sociala medierna under de senaste åren. Det mest diskuterade i dagsläget är implementeringen av Lean i den offentliga sektorn och då framförallt inom sjukvården. Detta har väckt heta debatter där människor från olika yrkesområden och åldrar har starkt skilda åsikter gällande implementeringen. Vissa är mycket positiva till att införa Lean i sjukvården medan andra ser mycket negativa effekter av implementeringen. Att det finns så mycket skilda åsikter angående detta och att så många människor har olika perspektiv på hur Lean fungerar gör att ämnet är väldigt intressant att analysera.

This thesis compares the impact on disk performance in a GNU/Linux  environmentwith three encryption algorithms: AES,  Serpent and Twofish in three different implementations: DM-crypt, Loop-AES and Truecrypt. For all three algorithms a key length of 256 bits is used.The thesis shows that the least performance impact during data encryption, and thus file writing, is reached by using AES or Twofish encryption implemented in DM-crypt or TrueCrypt. The thesis shows that some data operations with a sufficiently low processor utilization barely affects disk performance at all if encrypted using the optimal implementation and algorithm.It is also discovered that the performance impact during data decryption, or file reading, can be minimized by using the most efficient implementation and algorithm. The best results are met with the AES or Twofish cipher, regardless of implementation.An important conclusion that  is  drawn is that it is hard to determine a superior encryption solution for all purposes. However, by reviewing and examining the collected data from all aspects of disk performance the AES implementation in TrueCrypt is, with small marginals, determined to be the most optimal..

Bakgrund och problem: Denna studie handlar om varuhantering och lagerstyrning av kolonialvaror på Coop Extra Norremark i Växjö. Studien var ett uppdrag från Coop Extras butikschef, som ansåg att matbutiken var i behov av att effektivisera butikens varuhantering och lagerstyrning av kolonialvaror. Situationen på Coop Extra innebar ett överfyllt och ostrukturerat varulager, vilket gjorde att det gick åt mer tid än nödvändigt att hantera varor samt att mer kapital bands i butikens lager än vad som var behovet.Lean har förekommit inom tillverkningsindustrin sedan 1980-talet. I början av 2000-talet spred sig Lean till tjänsteföretag och offentlig verksamhet. Lean innebar då produktutveckling och effektivisering av organisationens olika processer, för att generera en högre kundnytta.
