This master thesis deals with events, dynamics and problems of mediated information seeking within the context of a new information service called "Book a librarian". The study, based on a survey and interviews both in academic and public libraries and participant observations in academic libraries, has its theoretical base in the cognitive theory of information retrieval interaction. The cognitive view is used to throw light upon the need of an ongoing dialogue during the session in order to detect the information needs of the user and to conduct a successful retrieval of information. The communicative interaction is seen as threepart interaction between the intermediary, the user and the information system, where the current cognitive states of all three participants are involved. The study shows that the cognitive obstacles for a successful mediation and information retrieval are mostly connected to participants current knowledge of the subject and of the retrieval techniques.

The purpose of this Master thesis is to examine and describe dog breeders? information activities. Questions posed in this study are:? What are the information needs of dog breeders?? How does the dog breeder seek and use information?? How can the relationship between serious leisure and information activities be described?The theoretical framework consists of the sociologist Robert A Stebbins? theory about serious leisure. The study is based on a qualitative methodology.

SAMMANFATTNINGBakgrund: Hjärtinfarkt är en vanlig dödsorsak. Efter en hjärtinfarkt kan livsstilsförändringar vara nödvändiga för att minimera risken att drabbas av hjärt- och kärlsjukdom. Teoretisk referensram är SAUK- modellen för bekräftande omvårdnad (Gustavsson, 2004). Denna omvårdnadsmodell är ett hjälpmedel som sjuksköterskan kan använda sig av för att stötta patienter som genomgått en hjärtinfarkt.Syftet med studien var att belysa patienters upplevda livskvalitet inom ett år efter en hjärtinfarkt. Fokus låg på patienternas upplevda livskvalitet och livsstilsförändringarna.Metod: Systematisk litteraturstudie där elva artiklar kvalitetsgranskats och analyserats.Resultat: Det framkom faktorer som påverkade patienternas livskvalitet både positivt och negativt.

Adolescence is a turbulent time in life and gives rise to new information needs for young people. Information needs related to school subjects have been relatively well researched but few studies have focused on information needs and use related to life concerns. The purpose of this Master's thesis is to examine the information needs of a number of teenage girls in relation to their life concerns and how they meet these needs. The sample consists of twenty-one girls aged thirteen and fourteen. The research is based on literature studies and qualitative interviews combined with a questionnaire.

Syftet med denna litteraturstudie var att beskriva upplevelsen av information i samband med undersökning och behandling hos kvinnor som drabbats av bröstcancer. Elva vetenskapliga artiklar analyserades med manifest kvalitativ innehållsanalys.

The aim of this master?s thesis is to examine the information needs in the character subjects of the students at a vocationally oriented program in the Swedish upper secondary school. I also examine from which sources the students get the information. I want to create a wider understanding of information seeking processes at a vocationally oriented programme. The main focus is the students? own thoughts and opinions about their information needs and information seeking processes.

This Bachelor?s thesis is related to the area within library and information studies that focuses on information seeking and information practices. The study deals with how politically engaged young people seek information in relation to their political interests. The purpose of the study is to create an understanding of the roles that different forms of information-related activities play within the framework of political interest and of the feelings, experiences and challenges that such activities may give rise to for those involved. The study also discusses purposes and motivation for information seeking and use in political engagement.

The aim with this thesis is to investigate how librarians experience communication with children in reference interviews. In today?s interactive community it is meaningful to study how children communicate with the librarian in virtual reference interview as well as in ordinary reference interviews in physical libraries. Focus has been on finding out what children ask about and how they are asking in virtual reference interviews and in ordinary reference interviews, what type of information needs the children have. The study also focuses on which barriers there can be in reference interviews.

This report is the result of a thesis carried out during the spring of 2010 at Sandvik Coromant in Gimo. The purpose of this thesis has been to make an inventory and mapping of information used by flow groups that are most relevant for the day-to-day work. This mapping will then form the basis for information supplied by an automated system.The project consisted of:Identifying how the information is supplied today.Inquiring into the needs of an automated system.Which needs of information that will be provided by the system.Data collection occurred in two ways, both through observations and interviews. Observations of the participants were carried out early in the thesis, where the aim was to create a picture of the problem, and gradually develop a basis for the actual interview study. At each observation, an unstructured observation was used, which means that all activity was recorded.

Beslutsfattande angående Ej HLR är ett komplext fenomen, därför att det kräver att hänsyn tas till ett antal faktorer. Ef-tersom det finns skillnader mellan riktlinjer och praxis, krävs förändring. Syftet med litteraturstudien var att beskriva sjuksköterskans uppfattningar om faktorer som påverkar beslutsfattandet angående Ej HLR. Studien genomfördes som en litteraturstudie och 14 vetenskapliga artiklar analyserades. Resultat visar att sjuksköterskans delaktighet kan påverka beslutsfattandet, genom att främja patientens och de närståendes autonomi och delaktighet.

This thesis aims to answer the following questions: What type of vocabulary is used in the humanities? What does this implicate when it comes to indexing in the humanities? How do humanities scholars seek information and what type of information do they need? What consequences does this have when it comes to the development of humanities databases? How is the MLA International Bibliography organized? How does its indexing system ? CIFT ? work? How does the MLA International Bibliography correspond with the needs of the humanities scholar? The study shows that the type of vocabulary used in the humanities differs significantly from that used in the sciences. Therefore, information retrieval is often said to be problematic in the humanities when compared to the sciences. This is, however, not completely true. If consideration is taken to the different type of vocabulary used in the humanities, subject access proves to be more straightforward than has been generally recognized.

Det har talats en hel del i media om fritidspedagogers rätt till legitimation samt om fritidspedagogernas yrkesroller. Denna studies syfte är att undersöka hur fritidspedagoger ser på sin egen professionalitet. Fokus riktas på fritidspedagogernas egen syn på deras centrala färdigheter och kunskaper, hur de tror att lärarnas och föräldrarnas syn är på dem, hur fritidspedagogerna själva kan planera och genomföra sin verksamhet och hur avsaknaden av legitimation påverkar deras yrkesroll. Studien har använt sig av en kvalitativ metod med semistrukturerade intervjuer. Fritidspedagogernasintervjuer analyseras med hjälp av tidigare forskning samt utvalda begrepp och teori.

Hjärt-kärlsjukdom är idag en av de största folksjukdomarna i Sverige med högst mortalitet till följd. Flera studier visar att uppföljning av patienter, Informationsbehov och stöd till patienter efter utskrivning från sjukhusen till primärvården är otillfredsställande. Det finns endast ett fåtal studier som visar på patienternas egna upplevelser av att leva med hjärtinfarkt. För att kunna förbättra vården till dessa patienter är det viktigt att ta del av patienternas egna upplevelser av att leva med en hjärtsjukdom. Syftet med studien är att beskriva patienters upplevelser av att leva med hjärtsjukdom ur ett patient- och livsvärldsperspektiv. Metoden i studien är kvalitativ intervju.

Informationsdelning är viktigt för att en organisation ska kunna uppnå god effektivitet, men i många fall delas och används inte information på det sätt som det skulle kunna göras. För att förbättra informationsdelningen har vissa företag investerat eller utvecklat IT-applikationer, men teknologin måste samverka med mänskliga och organisatoriska faktorer för att den önskade informationsdelningen ska kunna uppnås. Studiens syfte var att beskriva vilka faktorer som påverkar informationsdelningen ur ett MTO-perspektiv. För att svara på syftet genomfördes en fallstudie på ett konsultföretag som arbetar med produkt- och teknisk dokumentation och på fallföretaget utfördes 6 intervjuer med tekniska skribenter. Några av de faktorer som identifierats är att människan måste vara medveten om varför det är viktigt att dela viss typ av information, för att vilja dela och för att informationen ska hålla en bra kvalitet.
