Title: The social relation between student & teacher in individual music education. The aim of this study is to examine the relevance of the social relation between teacher and student in instrumental tuition in non-compulsory music education. The method I have used is qualitative interview inspired by phenomenology. I have made interviews with four persons who have experienced Individual singing/instrumental studies on several different levels. In this paper I wish to shed light on what people who have experienced many years of singing/instrumental studies are telling about the social relation to their former pedagogues.

In musikklasser (a special musical training which focus on choral singing is offered in the Swedish compulsory school from the age of ten until the age of sixteen) teachers are working in a tradition where conventions relating to singing with children have developed in accordance with the Swedish choral tradition. In these classes, students are trained in large groups, usually around 30 students in one class. Furthermore, one teacher and 60 students is also frequent in schools with two or more parallell grades. In a large choir group, students develop their skill in choral singing, which includes the development of general musical knowledge as well as the development of the Individual singing voice of each student in order for the choir to be able to interpret and perform music with a communal musical expression. Thus, the complexity in this teaching and learning setting places high demands on the choir teachers? ability to use appropriate teaching and learning strategies in order to develop the specific musical skill required in a choir.In this study, two choral teachers´ interaction with their choir class were investigated.

Choir singing is one of the most popular national movements in Sweden but the knowledge of the meaning of this activity for health and well being from the choir singers? own experiences is limited. The purpose of this study was therefore to develop useful knowledge about the meaning of choir singing for participating persons from a health perspective. The data was collected through qualitative interviews with six different choir singers and went after that through a comprehensive analysis which resulted in four main categories: an oasis in the existence; possibilities of meetings and solidarity; goals and musical development; and physical and emotional well-being. The results showed that the choir activity represents a place where the singers can escape the demands and the stress factors of everyday life and where they get the opportunity of meaningful relations with other people.

The singing-voice ? Differences and similarities between male and female singing-voices in a pedagogical perspectiveThe primary purpose of the present study is to create a basis for a deeper understanding of the male singing-voice. Within the above purpose the present study also aims at comparing differences and similarities between the male and the female singing-voice, and examining possible pedagogical differences in teaching male and female singing students.The study is partly a literature study where existing studies in the field of the singing-voice are examined, in which the male singing-voice is described in relation to the female one. The study also comprises an interview study where four professional singing-teachers, two male and two female, are being interviewed according to an interview guide (see appendix A) focusing on pedagogical aspects of the male and the female singing-voice.The results of the study show that the anatomical functions of the singing-voice are the same whether you are male or female. This also holds true for the basic singing-technique which is the same for both sexes.

Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka om Feldenkrais-metoden kan vara till hjälp i sångutövande, och hur man kan använda Feldenkrais-metoden i sångundervisning. Jag har valt att använda mig av en kvalitativ undersökning där jag utgått från litteratur, en intervju samt deltagande observation ur ett emiskt/etiskt perspektiv. Som sångare eller utövare av något musikaliskt instrument är det av stor vikt att man är medveten om, och tar hand om sin kropp, för att kunna prestera på topp och hålla i längden. Feldenkrais metoden kan i detta fall fungera som en nyckel till att finna lätthet i rörelse och andning. Man bör dock belysa att det finns många andra metoder att nå kroppsligt välbefinnande på, och att det är upp till individen att känna vad som passar bäst.The aim of this thesis is to examine if the Feldenkrais- method can be of help in singing practise, and how you can use the method in voice teaching.

Det finns behov av att utveckla icke- farmakologisk sma?rtlindring som komplement till farmakologisk sma?rtlindring fo?r denna patientgrupp. Tidigare forskning har visat att inspelad musik under blodprovstagning har positiva effekter pa? prematurt fo?dda barns fysiologiska va?rden samt beteendema?ssiga respons.

Detta examensarbete handlar om hårdrockssångares medvetenhet när det gäller sångteknik. Syftet med arbetet är att få kunskap om vilka tillvägagångssätt de har använt sig av när de skapat sitt sound och hittat sin teknik. Den teoretiska utgångspunkten för studien är det sociokulturella perspektivet. Tidigare forskning inom området behandlar traditionell röstlära, mer moderna sångskolor och socialkulturella normer gällande inlärning. Jag har använt mig av den kvalitativa forskningsintervjun som metod och mina informanter är verksamma inom området.

This thesis deals with the concepts of individual and individuation as defined by Leibniz and Spinoza. I denna tradition har konventioner om sa?ng med barn utvecklats. Undervisning i musikklasser sker i stora grupper men den enskilda eleven internaliserar kunskapen om att sjunga individuellt.

Scientific studies show that good leadership is a key factor for group- and individual development. Studies have also shown that the contrary can curb talented individuals and/or cause stagnation, or even cause groups to halt their progression. This essay studies how leaders in musical and athletic environments look on their own leadership. In interviews, the leaders reflect upon experienced issues related to their profession, their views on difficulties in their leading role, as well as individual, and group development. This study also includes two observations, one in each field of profession.

People with certain types of disabilities have the legal right to ask for an individual plan. The idea is that the plan should be a tool for the disabled to get more power and influence over the planned actions that involves their lives. The aim of this thesis was to study the individual circumstances of interpersonal power and influence in the work of individual plans. The study was done with a qualitative approach, where three executing officers and three individuals were interviewed. The results show that the conditions for the individual?s influence are far more complicated than at first glance.

AbstractThe purpose of this study is to examine whether the individual influence at the working place leads to the perception of decreased stress. Also I looked at whether stress and individual influence is affected by the employees age, sex or employment years. Previous research shows that individual influence decreases stress but strangely enough do the research show that individual influence seem to decrease in today?s work environment. This research is quantitative with questionnaires, answered by 74 civil servants working in a department in the municipality of Karlstad.

Syftet med studien är att få ökad insikt i körledares förhållningssätt till och hantering av sångtekniska övningar i kör. Bakgrundskapitlet beskriver sångrösten som instrument, och olika ? i sångsammanhang ? vanligt förekommande begrepp samt ger en presentation av tidigare litteratur och forskning som anknyter till studiens syfte. Vidare presenteras ett sociokulturellt perspektiv i egenskap av teoretisk utgångspunkt.Undersökningen är genomförd med hjälp av den kvalitativa intervjun som metod. Fyra i nuläget aktiva körledare intervjuades och i resultatet beskrivs deras syn på vad röst- och sångteknik innebär och hur de går tillväga för att förmedla detta till sina korister samt vilka redskap som används för ändamålet.

I oktober 2006 presenterade jag för Utbildnings- och kulturförvaltningen i Markaryd idén att samla sångintresserade i Markaryds kommun till en projektkör för att uppföra ett större körverk med orkester. Målen med projektet var att stimulera till ökad sång- och körverksamhet i skola och kommun och genom denna aktivitet, dels skapa närkontakt med klassisk musik, dels att bygga broar mellan olika grupperingar i kommunen. Då man år 2007 firade Markaryds kommun 700 år, Markaryds kyrka 150 år och Linné 300 år tillkom aspekten att projektkören skulle kunna bidra med en konsert som avslutning på jubileumsåret. Min forskningsfråga i detta arbete är: På vilket eller vilka sätt har projektets målsättningar uppnåtts? Skriftliga utvärderingar med de deltagande körsångarna, reaktioner från kommunen, press och allmänheten samt en DVD dokumentation utav konserten ligger till grund för min resultatdiskussion.
