Playboy is a magazine that, for more than a half century, has been mostly known to the wider audience for its stylized pictures of naked women. What a lot of people do not know is that the magazine, with its editor in chief Hugh Hefner in the lead, has been frontrunners in human rights. Playboy has been fighting protecting the right of freedom of speech, fighting for equal rights for all people during the civil rights movement and supported the feminist movement by funding precedent cases on abortion rights. According to a series of text analyses by Beggan & Allison (2000, 2002b) Playboy?s editorial direction contradicted conventional definitions of masculinity. Also, the magazine portrayed its Playmates with complex identities that, in many cases, contained a number of traditionally masculine abilities.In this thesis we have done a critical discourse analysis of the Playboy interview and how the gender of its subject is portrayed by the magazine.

Samtliga elever och lärare på de yrkesförberedande programmen fick tillgång till var sin iPad. Nu har tre år gått och den första kullen ?iPad-elever? tar studenten.

About a year ago, Göteborgs-Posten, one of Sweden's largest daily newspapers, decided it was unprofitable to continue producing their feature-style weekend magazine, Två Dagar. Standing at a crossroads,not wanting to stop producing the weekend magazine altogether, they decided to outsource. Spoon Publishing AB, a content agency with strong ties to Göteborg, were assigned with taking over the production.Going forward, Spoon has taken over a majority of the responsibility for the conceptual work and actual production, all with the main purpose of reducing cost and increasing efficiency.Normally Spoon does content marketing for a wide range of customers in an equally wide spectra of channels, from print to radio, television and web.The main purpose of this essay has been to investigate and establish whether the journalistic integrity and quality has in fact been maintained despite the weekend magazine being outsourced. We have analyzed selected editions of the magazine, first and foremost inarticles under the vignette fashion, using a qualitative method for content analysis, scrutinizing everything from the denotation of single words to the big picture. This specific vignette contains the most frequent contributions by in-house, or at least reappearing, journalists.Perusing the material in Två Dagar, we have come to the conclusion that the magazine has indeed retained its level of quality and still reflects the same core values as before being outsourced..

The purpose of this study was to examine the ways in which the Swedish lifestyle magazine VeckoRevyn construct the sex and love relations of bi- and homosexuals. We analyzed 22 unique texts in magazines, from 2009 to 2014, in order to get a result as current as possible.To represent the magazine overall we have selected texts from various parts of the magazine. With a critical discourse analysis and through relevant and significant theories and perspectives such as social constructionism and heteronormativity, we found that VeckoRevyn represent sex and love relations of bi- and homosexuals through four discourses.The outcome of our study shows that VeckoRevyn only represent a limited part of bi- and homosexuals sex and love relations. In the analysed texts bi- and homosexuals are forced to ?come out of the closet? repeatedly and their sexual relations are rarely represented.

The purpose of this study is to compare how the male journalists of the Slitz magazine and the female journalists of Veckorevyn represent the female sex. Slitz is dominated by sensual, sexy pictures of women. The texts describe the women on the basis of the journalists opinions. The women themselves do not get the same opportunities as the journalists to tell the readers who they are. Slitz magazine objectify women, they seem to be aware of it and do not hide their purpose.

Undersökningens syfte är att utveckla kunskap om hur förskolebarn kan göras delaktiga i den pedagogiska dokumentationen av en bildskapande aktivitet med hjälp av en surfplatta, i detta fall en iPad. I första hand undersöks barns perspektiv på vad som sker när de dokumenterar varandras bildskapande i aktiviteten, men även pedagogers perspektiv undersöks.Empirin är insamlad på en förskola, där urvalet av informanter gällt två barn i 3-årsåldern och två barn i 5-årsåldern samt två förskollärare.Arbetet har som utgångspunkt Reggio Emilias syn på barns delaktighet i estetisk lärprocess. Den teoretiska aspekten utgörs av bland annat en sociokulturell syn på hur barn kan lära av varandra och utvecklas genom skapande med bland annat stöd av medieredskap i sin omgivning.Arbetet är en kvalitativ studie, inspirerad av aktionsforskning. Undersökningens genomförande och resultat är uppdelad i tre steg. Steg 1, där barnen får dokumentera varandra under en bildskapande aktivitet med hjälp av en iPad.

Då den digitala tekniken har en betydelsefull roll i samhället anser vi att det är av stor vikt att den integreras i föreskoleverksamheten, något som även läroplanen för förskolan betonar. Vi har valt att undersöka hur och varför pedagoger i förskolan använder sig av iPaden samt om de ser några möjligheter eller hinder med att integrera den i verksamheten. I litteraturdelen behandlas både teoretiska perspektiv och tidigare forskning releventa för det område som har undersökts. För att få tillgång till pedagogernas erfarenheter och tankar kring iPaden genomförde vi en kvalitativ undersökning i form av ett frågeformulär med öppna frågor. Kontakt upprättades via det sociala mediet Facebook där en intresseförfrågan lades ut på ett forum, iPad i skola och förskola. Sex pedagoger deltog i undersökninge.

The society of spreading useful knowledge started to sell its magazine Reading for the People (RFP) in 1834. The idea with the society was to, through the magazine that contained useful knowledge, enlighten the Swedish peasantry. RFP contained articles about agricultural and economy for example.My goal with this essay is to investigate how the use of foreign articles in RFP changed over time. I?m also going to present a field and language categorization of the foreign articles and study the articles from Benjamin Franklin and Charles Dickens and investigate what kind of articles they wrote.

We live in a society where the technology has an enormous role in our lives. The average age of using digital tools among Swedish people is down to a very young age. In the recent period of time there has been much debate about tablets and their use in preschools. The aim of this study is to examine the preschool teachers experiences and perceptions of tablet use and how the implementation of the tablets benefits the school activities. What is central to this research is not how kids use the tablet, but how educators are using the tablet device as supplement for children?s development.

This theises aims to extend the understanding of how representation of gender is produced and reproduced in the young women?s magazine Frida. We examine this through analyzing pictures of male and female celebrities in a selected number of magazines from the year of 2013. We use a quantitative analysis of the pictures, as well as a supplementary quantitative analysis of ajectives used to describe male and female celebrities in captions. We research what types of patterns we can find in these analyses that construct representations of gender, also surveying how the celebrities in the magazine look.Our analysis shows us that the context of Frida contains several recurring visual patterns that preserves a representation of men being superior to women.

The purpose of this study is to determine who visits the V Frölunda Library, Gothenbug,what magazines they read and why. The data presented in this thesis are collectedusing four methods: general observation and counting numbers of visitors, interviewswith 202 magazine readers, the completion of 1308 questiomaires regarding approximately350 maghes and interviews with more than 100 library visitors.The data indicates that men are significantly overrepresented among magazine readersas compared to the female visitors. These men are primarily from the white collar sectorof the community. This leads to a pronounced underrepresentation of the blue coIlarworkers. Young people visit the magazine room in the library at a rate about twice thatexpected from the population distribution.Women are primarily interested in magazines dealing with the home whereas men aremore interested in business, cars, boats and sports.

Syftet med detta arbete är att studera vad som händer med förskolebarns kommunikation, samspel och lärande i mötet med det digitala verktyget ipad. I denna undersökning har jag även tittat närmare på hur pedagogen förhåller sig och påverkar situationen. Jag har närmat mig undersökningsområdet med en kvalitativ ansats där jag använt mig av observation som metod. Mina observationer har utförts på en förskola där jag studerat barn och pedagoger på två av förskolans avdelningar, en avdelning med barn i åldern 1-3 år och en avdelning med barn i åldern 3-5 år.Resultatet påvisar att barnen blir språkligt aktiv och engagerade i mötet med ipaden. De kommunicerar och samspelar med varandra på många olika sätt.

The purpose of this paper is to explore how masculinity and femininity are constructed in the magazine Veckorevyn, through a critical discourse analysis of 18 articles from six issues in 2011. This is done by using a variety of theories and previous research results, which is gender theory, the theory of late-modern society and media theory. The analysis shows that Veckorevyn depicts virility and feminine differently. Furthermore, pointing the results from the analysis that a change of manhood and womanhood takes place in the social practice. The selection of articles from the magazine also shows that Veckorevyn seems to promote gender equality. .

Syftet med denna studie var att försöka hitta de teser Min Volvo Magazine driver för att forma sin image. För att få svar på syftet har kritisk retorikanalys använts. Vad skriver Min Volvo Magazine om och vem är den tänkta målgruppen. Vem identifierar sig med budskapet och vem gör det inte och känner sig utanför ?Vi som kör Volvo gruppen? Huvudfrågorna var: Vilken image vill Volvo bli förknippad med? Och vad kan de retoriska valen som Volvo gör ha för effekt på identifikation respektive åtskillnad?Studien har använt sig av teorier som identifikation och etos.
