Volvo Human Monitoring (VHM) is an ongoing project at Volvo Cars where they measure, amongst other parameters, inhalation and exhalation through a device called Respiratory Inductance Plethysmograph (RIP), on drivers. RIP measures changes in the cross-sectional area of the chest and abdomen. When the driver is in motion, such as when she is turning the vehicle, the cross-sectional area changes and noise in the RIP signal may arise.The noise results in a large number of manual adjustments in the analysis of the RIP signal, which is very time consuming and the validity of the device for measuring inhalation and exhalation is questioned.The purpose of this study was to improve the efficiency of the analysis of the RIP signal. The goal was to create a new data processing tool in Matlab that automatically detects inhalation and exhalation from a RIP signal with higher validity compared to the previous data processing tool.In this study, nine tests were performed on drivers while they were driving in different scenarios such as highway, country road and in city traffic. Inhalation and exhalation was measured using a RIP, a pneumotachograph with a tightly sealed facemask and a thermocouple placed between the nose and mouth, which was used as reference to the RIP.The result of this study was a data processing tool that automatically detects inhalation and exhalation with higher validity compared to the previous data processing tool.

The country has ratified the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and the Inter-American Convention on the Prevention, Punishmentand Eradication of Violence against Women "Convention of Belem Do Para" but still women and girls are victims of structural discrimination and serious impunity of their rights on a daily basis.The current situation proves that the positive changes within the context of international and national law do not necessary reach out to the population to the same extent. In the light of the lacking popular involvement and knowledge of their rights, a different type of solution is desirable. Therefore it would be of interest to examinate the role of Non Governmental Organisations (NGO:s) when it comes to implementing human rights in the society and ?the every day life?.

The purpose of this essay is to display the double moral that is prevailing in France concerning human rights. Immigrants and ethnic minorities are suffering from discrimination as well as racism. By looking at legislation in France concerning FGM/C and its difficulties it becomes clear that there is a correlation between the legislation and African women's situation in general. These women are denied their basic rights and are excluded from society. They are rendered invisible and vulnerable.

Human-animal interaction is suggested to be a main feature within livestock production. The quality of handling, for instance, appears to be greatly depending on the attitudes and behaviour of the stock people. Various studies have been conducted on relationships between human and animals, but few have looked upon differences in human-animal interaction and attitudes between countries. Two countries often discussed in livestock production are The Netherlands and Sweden. It would be of interest to compare these two countries to find out whether (assumed) differences are reflected in the attitudes between animal handlers.

The Swedish Armed Forces is a public institution and consequently obliged to follow Swedish and international legislation. Thus, they are subjected to contrarious demands from different actors operating in its high-technological and high-institutional environment: to be a legitimate institution and at the same time operate with a high level of efficiency. This thesis is conducted with the aim of investigating whether The Swedish Armed Forces' steering document for gender equality is used to achieve visible and quantifiable results or if the document constitute a medium for reverberating legitimacy. To answer the research question, we applied a critical discourse analysis on the relevant documents and on the conducted semi-constructed interviews with members from different levels and positions in the organizational hierarchy. Subsequently, we came to the conclusion that the Swedish Armed Forces manage the demands for efficiency and legitimacy, which are forced upon them from the technological and institutional environment, by talking about them.

I have chosen the following problem: How is the Catholic church presented in the horror movies The Exorcist and The Rite, and how can one understand these presentations from a role theoretic perspective?Since role theory has it's background in the world of the theater with it's actors and roles, it came naturally to use role theory, and specifically Goffmans dramatic model. I've used this model in a film analysis of the movies.

Inledning: Human Resources Strategy tar upp viktiga begrepp för hur man ska hantera och behandla sina medarbetare, vilket är ett relevant ämne i dagens samhälle där man har fått upp ögonen för hur strategier genom human resources kan genera vinst i företaget.Syfte: Syftet är att analysera hur ledare på fyra utvalda hotell i Stockholm och Oslo arbetar för att få sina medarbetare att prestera optimalt ur ett serviceperspektiv utefter den etablerade modellen Human Resources Strategy, och därefter finna det hotell som lägger mest vikt vid strategierna i modellen.Metod och material: Uppsatsen är baserad på fyra kvalitativa semistrukturerade intervjuer, 14 vetenskapliga artiklar, litteratur och en icke-deltagande/enkel observation på fyra utvalda hotell, som ingår i något av medlemskapen; The Leading Hotels of the World eller Design Hotels.Resultat: Undersökningen visade att ledarna i studien ansåg att det var av stor vikt att medarbetarna har kognitiv kompetens, blir utbildade inom företaget, får motivation, belöning och förmåner, samt känner delaktighet och att de får regelbunden feedback på sitt arbete. Allt detta för att skapa en positiv arbetsmiljö och trivsel hos medarbetarna, eftersom det skapar förutsättningar för att leverera en högklassig service, men i vilken utsträckning beror dock på hotellets storlek, förutsättningar och resurser.Slutsats: Det är viktigt att hitta rätt strategier för att på så sätt få medarbetare att prestera efter hotellets direktiv gällande service. The eld of Brain-computer interfaces (BCI) concerns linking together an external device with the brain of a human or an animal. By doing this the conventional use of a mouse or keyboard can be circumvented, which can greatly benefit people with different types of diseases that cause paralysis or other loss of motor control, such as Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). A BCI can also be used for cognitive training of either healthy or mentally impaired subjects to increase cognitive capabilities.In this thesis an implementation of an interface is made against such a device, the Emotiv EPOC Headset. The result is meant to be a stable basis for further study using the device. An in-depth study of the history of EEG and its current use in clinical work and research in the topics of BCI as well as Human-computer interaction (HCI) is presented.

On social media, girls create digital spaces where a distinctive spiritual culture emerges. This spiritual culture is therapeutic in nature, consisting of therapeutic compositions and happiness-generating templates that contribute to the girls' respectability by allowing them to take responsibility through their intuitive knowledge. The purpose of this study is to investigate how the pursuit of respectability is manifested in these digital spaces by examining spiritual expressions and exploring how participation in therapeutic culture online serves the attainment of respectability. The study employs a participatory netnographic method, focusing on observations of LIVE broadcasts on TikTok. In these broadcasts, girls engage in various spiritual practices within a shared digital sphere. The observations are analyzed through the theoretical frameworks of Beverley Skeggs' concept of respectability and theories related to therapeutic culture, including happiness culture and therapeutic assemblage. The findings reveal that both the girls hosting the LIVE broadcasts and those participating by commenting collaboratively create a digital culture through the exchange of advice.

The common asylum and migration policy of the European Union is a struggle between a strong belief in the protection of human rights and the need of strong and secured borders. This paper highlights the dilemma that occurs in the common asylum and migration policy of the European Union. What happens when the union have to choose between liberal standards with high priorities to human rights and a realistic focus on security? The aim is to study the asylum policy presented in the Stockholm Program, and thereafter evaluate what kind of character the union has itself. By an ideal type analysis of the Stockholm program from 2009, the common asylum policy is divided into either liberal or realistic ideas.

Syfte: I denna studie vill jag undersöka hur rekryteringsprocesser, gruppdynamik och motivationsfrågor behandlas inom kommunal och privat parkförvaltning. Dessa frågor behandlas inom ramen för Human resource management, som handlar om att ta till vara på målen för organisationer och medarbetares behov att utvecklas på jobbet. Med en ämnesinriktad litteratur och en kvalitativ intervjuteknik vill jag undersöka de frågor som aktualiseras av dem som arbetar inom kommunal regi och i privat företagande. Frågorna delades upp i ämnesområdena; organisation, rekrytering, medarbetare, motivation och gruppdynamik. Metod: Intervjuerna studerades ingående och vid upprepade tillfällen för att få en uppfattning om var kärnan i informationen som informanterna delgivit mig låg. Därefter analyserades texterna och resultaten delades in i teman; synen på organisation och rekrytering/motivation och karriärmöjligheter och gruppdynamik på arbetsplats. Slutsats: Det visade sig att ledarna till stor del litar på medarbetarnas förmågor att hitta motivation och att arbeta tillsammans i grupper.
