Årligen drabbas ca 10000 personer av hjärtstopp utanför sjukhus. I de fall ambulansen har en lång framkörning finns det på flera håll ett samarbetsavtal skrivet med lokal räddningstjänst som innebär att en s.k. IVPA-styrka, "I Väntan På Ambulans", larmas till patienten och påbörjar HLR. Syftet med studien är att få reda på hur ambulanspersonalen i ett valt område ser på samarbetet med IVPA i samband med hjärtstopp prehospitalt. Åtta kvalitativa intervjuer av ambulanssjuksköterskor genomfördes.

Bakgrund: Patienten är hänvisad till att vistas i vårdrummet, där en stimulerande utformning av den fysiska miljön skulle kunna locka patienten till hälsosamma tankar som kan minska lidande och öka välbefinnande.Vårt intresse för ämnet ligger i att vi inte upplevt estetikens betydelse som framstående i vårdrummet. Syfte: Syftet var att beskriva betydelsen av vårdrummets estetik för den vuxna patientens välbefinnande. Metod: Den systematiska litteraturstudien genomfördes med kvalitativ ansats och nio artiklar analyserades med innehållsanalys. Resultat: Estetik i vårdrummet har stor betydelse för patientens välbefinnande. Solljus minskar smärta, stress och oro, medan konsthantverk skapar en hemtrevlig och personlig atmosfär.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att genom patientjournaler undersöka hur mentalpatienter har behandlats vid Lunds hospital under åren 1879,1896 samt 1916. Det som undersökts är vilka personer som intogs för vård, vilka intagningsskälen var, vilken diagnos som tilldelades de intagna samt vilken behandling de sinnessjuka fick. Källmaterialet har bestått av patientjournaler från avgångna patienter och detta material finns på Arkivcentrum Syd i Lund. Metoden som jag använt mig av har gått ut på att gå igenom journalerna och undersöka vilka diagnoser som tilldelades de sjuka, hur långa vistelsetiderna var, kvinnornas ålder och civilstånd, vilka intagningsorsakerna var samt vilka behandlingar och mediciner som ordinerades. Resultaten av undersökningen räknades sedan ihop och sammanställdes i tabeller vilka ligger som bilagor i arbetet.

Lame dogs are a common group of patients for the practicing veterinarian. In the literature it is described how a clinical examination can be performed, based on general clinical-, orthopedic- and neurological examination, and visual evaluation of the dog when standing and during motion. For research, objective gait analysis systems are also used to study clinically healthy and lame dogs during motion. The aim of this degree project was to compare objective kinematic gait analysis with a visual evaluation of dogs with different types of lameness. The project was a pilot study to show if objective gait analysis could be used as a support for the visual examination. Ten lame dogs of different breeds and with different diagnoses were included in the study. They were all patients at the University Animal hospital, Uppsala.

As the Sister Kenny Research Center isrecently started, it did not prior to this thesis project have a design process or structured way ofworking in design projects.The outcome of this thesis project is a comprehensive innovation strategy package with a set oftools to enhance the innovativeness at the Sister Kenny Research Center. Background: The speech- and language deficit aphasia affects 12 000 persons annually in Sweden. Aphasia is caused by injury in the brain and the most common etiology is stroke. According to the tool for describing and assessing aphasia, A-FROM (Kagan et al., 2008), the four following aspects of aphasia need to be considered: severity of aphasia, participation in life situations, communication and language environment and personal factors. Several different interventions and treatments can be performed in every domain. There is scientific evidence for interventions performed by speech and language pathologists; however, the question is yet being discussed since results are unambiguous.Purpose: The main purpose of this study is to investigate which aphasia interventions performed by speech and language pathologists that are supported by evidence.

En upprörd patient sitter i väntrummet på en akutmottagning. Patienten har väntat på vård i flera timmar och äntligen kommer en sjuksköterska in. Patienten reser sig upp och bereder sig på att följa med. Tyvärr utropar sjuksköterskan någon annans namn och den väntande patienten frågar undrande: ?Ursäkta, när är det min tur?? Problem:Vi anser att det finns problem i arbetsprocessen på akutmottagningen som orsakar att patienten får vänta onödigt länge.

ABSTRACTIntroduction: An increasing number of patients undergo surgery under local anesthesia and are thereforeawake during the procedure. Nursing care that is provided to these patients can differ from those thatreceive general anesthesia. Previous research has focused on patients? general experiences of being awakeintraoperative. But there is no research that focuses on patients perceptions of security.

 The aim of the study was auditing medical records examine postoperative blood glucose levels after undergoing CABG surgery. Furthermore the aim was to determine if the ward staff abides the local guidelines frame of reference concerning each ward, regarding blood glucose measurements and blood glucose levels. The study included 70 patients undergoing CABG surgery at the cardiothoracic surgery, Uppsala University Hospital. The study was conducted by retrospective medical record auditing. Studied factors were postoperative blood glucose levels, number of registered blood glucose measurements, a current diagnosis of DM and preoperative HbA1c.

Background: The parent has a natural presence in today?s child health care and hospital treatment. The transition from home to a care institution has an impact on the parent. Previous research shows that over time the conditions and the parent?s role in child and youth health care have changed extensively.

Bakgrund: Riktlinjer för sjuksköterskor säger att patientens integritet skall bevaras och att alla patienter skall mötas värdigt, oberoende av sin sjukdom. Det första mötet är viktigt i relationen mellan sjuksköterskan och patienten. Enligt omvårdnadsteoretikern Joyce Travelbee läggs de grundläggande förutsättningarna för den framtida relationen i detta möte och därför är det viktigt att frigöra sig från eventuella förutfattade meningar gentemot patienter. Stigmatisering gentemot psykiskt sjuka patienter förekommer bland allmänheten. Syfte: Syftet var att beskriva sjuksköterskors upplevelser av att vårda patienter med psykisk sjukdom på allmänsjukhus.

Among farmers in Sweden hedging of product prices is a relatively new way of thinking. A deregulated market and a more volatile price picture are consequences of the free market and the movements towards globalization. The effects of globalization are largely a demand- and supply driven market. These factors give the farmers incentives to stay informed and to act on their own in order to manage their price risk exposure.The overall purpose with this study is to analyze the farmers? attitudes and awareness of price hedging and to examine what type of decision processes that characterize hedging decisions.The study covers the period 2006 until 2008 and the crops oil seeds, barley (malt), milling wheat, feed wheat, oats and feed oats.

Background: High demands are today placed upon Swedish elderly care nurses as more elderly live with multimorbidity while the hospital bed capacity is becoming lower. Aim: The aim of the study was to explore nurses? perception of decision-making in situations with acutely ill patients in nursing homes and which factors may influence the decision about transferring patients to the emergency department or not. Method: This is a qualitative study with a phenomenographic approach. Semi-structured interviews have been conducted with 11 nurses working in nursing homes. The data analysis was based on Dahlgren and Fallsberg (1991) data analysis. Result: Three different description categories were presented, which describes variations of the nurses? perceptions.Feeling comfortable in making the decision; which involved the nurses feeling confident in the decision-making about transferring patients to the emergency department or not.Hesitant in making the decision; which described how nurses perceived the decision-making as problematic, with regard to transferring patients to the emergency department.Many wishes to consider in taking the decision; which explained how nurses? decision-making was influenced by requests from the patients or from people close to them.Conclusion:  The study reflected how  supporting and aggravating factors could influence how nurses in nursing homes perceived the decision-making and how nurses have to take in consideration different opinions concerning the decision making process of transferring patients to the emergency department or not.

Most swedish newspapers have a homepage where their news are presented. Existing guidelines describing how to write for the web often recommends you to keep it short and stay objective. But how about longer pieces of content presented in the print version? What will become of reports, interviews and essays as we?ve come to know them as the printed newspaper goes digital?Interviews with representatives of five swedish newspapers shows that the extent to wich content is being published on the web is connected to the overall purpose of the web presence. The fact that many newspapers does not publish longer pieces of text on the web rather seems to be an economic issue, than a matter of good readability.Past studies shows that longer pieces of text may well work on the web, if the reader?s interest is big enough.

Introduktion: En av domänerna som Kim skriver om är miljödomänen som hon delar i trekomponenter: den fysiska miljön, den sociala miljön och den symboliska miljön. Vid vistelsepå sjukhus blir det förändringar i patientens miljö. Den sociala miljön förändras t.ex. på detsättet att vårdpersonalen alltid finns rumt patienten. Alla faktorer i vårdmiljön påverkarpatienterna på något sätt.
