During the 19-century a global warming has been observed, which includes increases in global air and ocean temperatures, widespread melting of ice and snow, and rising global sea level. There is a clear connection between emissions of greenhouse gases caused by the human and the increase in temperature. Climatic changes caused by global warming can be stopped trough decreased emission of fossil fuels, for example by an increased use of biogas. Biogas is a renewable energy source which is produced through anaerobic (oxygen free) digestion of organic material. The gas is a mixture of methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2) and can be among others used as fuel in vehicles.

In 1998 the Swedish Socialist Government initiated a project in order to promote economic growth and to end the discriminating social and ethnic segregation in the greater city regions of Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmo. One of the goals of the project was and still is to promote political participation in 24 of the poorest areas of the three cities. In a quantitative analysis I evaluate whether or not the project so far has been successful in promoting a specific part of political participation, i.e. electoral participation in communal elections. The results of the 24 poor city areas are compared with a group of 14 likewise poor city areas of major swedish cities.According to my hypothesis, general improvements of the socio-economic status of poor city areas ought to generate positive effects on electoral participation in communal elections.

Six cows were subjected to an intravenous glucose tolerance test (GTT) to evaluate the amount of glucose that is needed to stimulate the release of insulin from pancreas. Four of the cows were in early lactation and two were non-lactating and not pregnant. Series of blood-samples were collected to analyze the concentration of insulin and glucose in the blood. The cows were given lower levels of glucose than have been used in earlier glucose tolerance tests. The levels of glucose given were 7,5 mg/kg BW, 15 mg/kg BW, 30 mg/kg BW and 50 mg/kg BW.

Purpose - To analyze the relationship between supply chain management maturity, supply chain performance and financial performance in small and medium-sized enterprises (SME:s).Design/methodology/approach - The data comprises 15 SME:s that participated in a local logistic study in Gävleborgs län. The levels of supply chain mature within these firms were based upon an interview study and the financial performance of the firms was then examined using financial reports-based data.Findings -The results of this study indicate that there is a strong relationship between SCM maturity and SC performance in SMEs, some relationships between SCM maturity and financial performance, as well as some relationships between SC performance and financial performance. This means that if firms use maturity indicators in the SCOR areas to improve their processes, they will most likely achieve a positive effect on supply chain performance and probably also on financial performance. The result implies that the supply chain maturities in these firms are higher than expected with no one at the adHoc level.While this study is based on a rather small number of participating firms, it would be valuable to further test the significance of the indicated correlations between SCM maturity and performance in a large-scale survey.Research limitations/Implications - The research is an attempt to understand supply chain maturity and it´s implication on financial performance. Developing supply chain maturity is an opportunity for a company to gain superior performance.

During the 8th and 9th of January 2005 a devastating storm named Gudrun entered the south of Sweden and a big part of the forest owners got their forests damaged. The study objective was to investigate on which basis and how the affected forest owners made their managment decisions immediately after the storm and if there are any differences between different categories of forest owners. - Members ? non members in a forest owner association (FOA) - Resident owners ? non resident owners - Female and male forest owner The study is based on a questionnaire survey with the purpose to examine the most important counsellor and information channels of the forest owners. A total of 450 forest owners participated in the survey. Results show that all categories of forest owners prefer professional counselling rather than personal counselling.

According to the Water Framework Directive of the European Union, macrophytes should be used as indicators in the ecological and environmental monitoring of lakes. In the member state Sweden the Environmental Protection Agency has elaborated assessment criteria for determining lake status based on macrophytes. The main focus of this thesis is to evaluate the efficiency of the assessment criteria for macrophytes. In addition the concordance between the ecological status classes of the four quality factors included was analysed.The assessment criteria for macrophytes are based on the total phosphorus preference of the respective species. The focus is thus mainly on the nutrient level of the investigated lakes and the environmental problem monitored is eutrophication.

The purpose of this work was to provide a better understanding of urea?s decomposition and byproduct formation in an SCR system on heavy trucks. In my experimental setup with TGA-DSC-FTIR (a combination of two thermal analysis methods and a method for gas phase detection), an FTIR method for urea in the gas phase was developed for the qualitative and quantitative determination of urea and its decomposition products. Chemicals such as urea, biuret, cyanuric acid and melamine of p.a. quality were used in this method development. Beforehand, there was no FTIR method available to detect these substances; hence, the aim of this work was to develop an FTIR method to understand the degradation chain of urea. The combination of TGA and DSC was used for analysis of different samples, where urea, biuret, cyanuric acid and melamine in varying amounts have been weighted in for various experiments in order to study the temperature at which a phase transition or reaction occurs, i.e.

Svenska elevers resultat i skolan har sedan mitten av 1990-talet försämrats. Det finns flera olika orsaker, bland annat att när kommunen tog över ansvaret för skolan blev den svenska skolan mer avreglerad. Det var meningen att kommunen som har mer kunskap på lokal nivå skulle kunna fördela resurserna och göra skolan mer likvärdig, men så är det inte idag. Det finns även kopplingar till att prestationerna och föräldrars socioekonomiska status påverkar resultaten. Men även tiden föräldrarna har med barnen har minskat, mycket på grund av att båda föräldrarna arbetar idag.

Undersökningens utgångspunkter är att studera hur pedagoger i år 1 arbetar med bildämnet, samt vad de anser om ämnet bild. I studien ingår fyra pedagoger som alla är verksamma i år 1. De arbetar två och två. Undersökningen genomfördes med hjälp av separata semistrukturerade intervjuer med de fyra pedagogerna samt ostrukturerade observationer av pedagogernas arbete i klassrumsmiljöerna.Det framkom att tre av pedagogerna har bild i sin utbildning, mer eller mindre. Den första via sin tidigare förskollärarutbildning, den andra genom sin lärarutbildning, dock tycker pedagogen att det är för längesedan och därmed inte längre aktuellt och färskt i minnet.

Approximately 60 million cubic meters of round wood are transported every year with trucks in Sweden and stand for 15 % of all truck transportation in the country. The big amount that is transported results in many haulage companies works in different parts of the country with different conditions to get a good flow on their transports. Today the transport pricing is very general and the payment consists of the unit round wood they are transporting and the distance of the transport. The purpose of this study were, from the freighter and the haulage company?s perspective, try to find ways to change the today applied transport pricing to more differentiated and compare them to historic payment of transportation.

SVT:s Uppdrag granskning sände i januari-februari 2011 två avslöjande reportage om Ikea och dess grundare Ingvar Kamprad. I den här uppsatsen görs en kvantitativ innehållsanalys av hur dagstidningarna Aftonbladet, Dagens Nyheter, Expressen, Smålandsposten och Svenska Dagbladet rapporterade kring Kamprad i 74 artiklar under efterspelet till granskningen. Forskningsfrågan är huruvida rapporteringen i ett mediedrev styrs av huvudpersonens status i samhället. Resultatet tolkas med hjälp av teorier om mediedrev och framing och jämförs med tidigare forskning om två politiska affärer: Rainer-affären 1983 och Freivalds-affären 2000. Undersökningen visar att flertalet kriterier för ett mediedrev inte stämmer in på rapporteringen kring Kamprad.

The activity of interest groups in the political process of the European Union has given rise to a broad debate concerning the effect on European democracy these groups have. As relatively powerful political actors, the question of these groups? views on the EU and how the union should be is an important one. The status of these groups owns democratic representation also affects the democratic status of the EU. Being based on a number of theories, this study adopts an ideology analysis for the purpose of testing these theories on two cases ? the Swedish environmental organizations World Wide Fund for Nature and The Swedish Society for Nature Conservation.

The purpose was to examine relations between motivation and goal orientation, perceived ability and perceived motivational climate among persons working out in gym. Another purpose was to study differences in motivation, perceived ability and motivational climate among men and women. The final purpose was to study interactional effects on the dependent variable motivation. The participants were 59 men and 69 women. The instruments used were Task and Ego Goal Orientation in Sport Questionnaire (TEOSQ), Harter´s Competence scale and part of Mahoneys R-5 test.

Guantanamofångarnas status - abstractSyftet med denna uppsats är att utreda Guantanamofångarnas juridiska status. Detta görs genom en diskussion av följande frågor:-Varför och på vilka grunder har USA fattat beslutet om att inte tillerkänna Guantanamo-fångarna krigsfångestatus? -Vad har fångarna för möjlighet att få sin status prövad? -Kan den uppkomna situationen ha någon inverkan på framtida internationell rätt? -Kan den uppkomna situationen påverka hur eventuellt tillfångatagna amerikaner i en framtida internationell väpnad konflikt blir behandlade? Svaren på dessa frågor har sökts genom litteraturstudier och inhämtande av information från internet. Faktablad och pressbriefings från Vita Huset och Försvarsdepartementet i USA har legat till grund för min analys av USA och Bush-administrationens argument. Dessa källor har kompletterats med kommenterande material författat av forskare från olika juridiska högskolor och universitet i USA. Uppsatsen visar att USA skiljer på fångar som är Talibanska soldater, samt fångar som är medlemmar i al-Qaeda.

The goal of this essay was to study if the way gaming review sites presented their review evaluation has any influences the level of product involvement in the users it attracts. The assumption we did during the essay was that there was a connection between user?s level of product involvement and the quality of the community. To test this assumption we started out by performing observations on the comment sections in three gaming news sites which varied in their method for evaluating games. The result of these observations showed a significantly higher community quality in one of the websites.
