I have in my thesis performed a survey that builds on interviews of five former students at Mediepedagogiskt Center (Mpc) that is located at Sundsta-Älvkullegymnasiet in Karlstad which is incorporated into Karlstads-Hammarö comprehensive upper secondary school. The sample group of students all has various withdrawal years between 1997 - 2004. The aim of the survey is to evaluate any direct qualities that these students have had that helped them to get a occupation within the media industry after the completion of their education at Mpc. This survey also tries to evaluate whether the orientation of their particular style of education is a factor for achieving employment. Before 1998 the course was divided into three A and B-level courses within the directions, photography, graphic design, text communication, sound production and film/television. After 1998 these are now divided into one A, B and C level courses, and one another level courses on A and B-level. The result shows that something more than? just? a good schooling with high grades is needed to succeed into getting a occupation within the media sector.

This master thesis in library- and information science is about the intermediary function of the library room from an environment-psychological point of view. Young people are a group in society who often reduce their visits to the library when growing up. There are lots of reasons for this maybe more attractive activities occur outside the library doors, making the young choose not to use the library. But if the library interior is attractive in itself, and has a welcoming atmosphere, there might be a change and the young people may well choose to pay the library a visit. What is important to young people how do they want their library room to look? Our purpose is to see how the physical environment affects young people in libraries.

Språkliga och kulturella skillnader kan leda till komplikationer i den textila tillverkningen med tanke på att kommunikationen mellan beställare och producent ibland kan missförstås. Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka hur man, med hjälp av avancerad fotografi, kan förenkla den sömnadstekniska kommunikationen mellan producent och leverantör. Framtagningen av resultatet har gjorts med hjälp av kvalitativa intervjuer med två experter inom områdena fotografi samt produktion. Det har även utförts intervjuer med en inköpsassistent på ett stort internationellt svenskt modeföretag och en intervju med designer/inköpare vid ett mindre företag. Det har vid sidan av intervjuer utförts experimentella observationer där framtagning av en fungerande manual för 360° fotografering har skett.

Med responsiv webbdesign skapas en design som sedan dynamiskt anpassar sig till olika enheters skärmbredder, utan att specifika designer måste skapas för att få en anpassad layout till varje specifik enhet. De senaste åren har användandet av mobila enheter för surf på webben ökat och kraven som ställs på det mobila surfandet ökar med detta. Ett problem som uppstår med mobila enheter är att de trots sina små skärmar, använder samma högupplösta bilder som skapats för större skärmar. Detta medför att, trots omskalning av bilder för att responsivt anpassa bilden till enheten, så laddas en onödigt stor bild ned till enheten. Detta kan exempelvis p.g.a.

Användandet av enheter med varierande skärmstorlek för att surfa på webbsidor ökar. Webben är således under en ständig förändring. Ansvariga för en webbsida måste därmed bestämma hur de ökade kraven som dessa olika enheter ställer ska kunna tillgodoses. Genom att använda sig av HTML5, CSS3 samt Responsive Web Design kan en webbsidas design på ett önskvärt sätt anpassas efter enhetens skärmstorlek. Denna uppsats syftar till att ge riktlinjer för att förenkla den migrationsprocess som en designer av en webbsida förr eller senare måste ta ställning till för att kunna hantera olika enheters skärmstorlekar.

ABSTRACT The purpose of this essay has been to analyse an incident that received huge attention in the media that took place on February 24 2011 involving the famous fashion designer John Galliano. Galliano who at the time served as a creative director at French luxury fashion house Dior hurled anti-Semitic remarks during an altercation to a couple at Paris café La Perle. We intended to do a study of the material in two parts. The primary focus of our thesis was to analyse six different newspaper articles that involved the incident. We chose to analyse three articles from Great Britain and three from the United States to get a versatile image of the incident.

The objective of this study was to investigate differences in the portrayal of Western European citizens and non Western European citizens in Hergé?s graphic novels about the young journalist Tintin. We wanted to see if the globalization during the mid 1900?s had an effect on Hergé?s way of portraying the world. We started off by selecting nine novels from three different periods of time, though we read all of the novels in The Adventures of Tintin.

This project was a collaboration with Kajsa Bergström. The projected was to develop the French/English deck of cards. We replaced the knight, queen and king with the numbers 11, 12 and 13. We worked with separate aesthetics and solutions after making that common change. I worked on an idea on how to make the cards look slim, by adapting a handcrafted look, full of details.

Denna rapport behandlar utvecklingen av en prototyp för en absolutläges-sensor, benämnd AOS. Arbetet är utfört på uppdrag av Electrum Automation AB som med hjälp av prototypen vill utvärdera om en skarp produkt kan tas fram genom att använda billiga sensorer främst avsedda för konsumentbruk. AOS ska kunna användas för att mäta absolut orientering, dvs. lutning och riktning i förhållande till jordens gravitation och magnetfält. This thesis was conducted at AB Fredr Wagner in Ösmo in Nynäshamn, Sweden.AB Fredr Wagner provides solutions for the graphic industry and has been asked by acustomer to develop a product that can simplify handling of EUR-pallets, namely amechanical arrangement, further called pallet exchanger that can switch from anempty pallet to a fully loaded one using only hand force.The goal with the thesis was to create design documents for a pallet exchanger, andalso from those documents to manufacture a prototype for testing and evaluation.A field trip was made to the customer, IKAB mailing in Huddinge, where the palletexchanger is thought to be placed. The purpose of this field trip was to get an insightinto the current work condition and need of change, as well as to gather informationregarding the requirements when it comes to size and robustness of the palletexchanger. Existing equipment on the market that can perform similar tasks werestudied in order to find an optimal solution for the actual pallet exchanger.After the field trip and gathering of information the concept generating phase began.The method used for generating concepts was brainstorming. To decide on whichconcept to use, a concept selection matrix was created. The selection criteriaincluded in the matrix came from the requirements for the pallet exchanger.

Playsam in Kalmar AB are world famous for their design of the toys they sell. Together with their CEO Carl Zedig the goal was to find a new product for the company.  The process has far from been linear, I started off in one direction, got rejected, turned another way and we finally decided to create a rocking horse in a De Stijl style. At the same time taking consideration of the demands from Playsam and myself.Playsam?s products are archetypes of ordinary objects around us such as the car or the aeroplane. The company mainly produces its toys in wood and the stylized shape together with the blank painted surface has become a hallmark for them.De Stijl, the Dutch art movement containing artists, designers and architects such as Piet Mondrian, Theo van Doesburg and Gerrit Rietveld.

Detta arbete har genomförts i samarbete med Ekdahls Möbler, ett företag verksamt i Småland som utvecklar och producerar möbler. Resultatet av detta projekt är att en stol för offentliga miljöer och med svanenmärkningens grundtankar och principer som ledord tagits fram. I utarbetningen av stolen anser jag att det bevisas att ett företag kommer tjäna pengar på att svanenmärka sina produkter. Kan då ett företag vinna på att svanenmärka sina produkter? I dagsläget ter det sig som marknaden för miljömedvetna möbler främst finns inom den offentliga miljön där man kan se en ökad efterfrågan efter mer miljöanpassade produkter.

Scania är en välkänd tillverkare av tunga lastfordon och bussar. De profilerar sig som det presigefyllda valet med hög teknologinivå. För att kunna leda utvecklingen av nya funktioner och motorer måste många tester av alla system i dessa fordon göras. Till detta används provceller speciellt ordnade för specifika lastbilskomponenter och många av dessa komponenter behöver en yttre kylning under drift varför flera av provcellerna har reglerade kylsystem. Vid uppgradering av kylsystem eller nybyggnation av provceller med kylsystem finns en önskan att kunna simulera och göra tester av kylsystemet innan det faktiska kylsystemet finns på plats, för att säkerställa prestandan innan någon investering görs.

We studied the initial process of reading, with a focus on typography, whether it ispossible to increase childrens lust to read in the age six to seven years old, byadjusting the typography and graphic design. We conduct this study through qualitative and quantitative studies, mainlyinterviews with a main focus on children in this particular age were used. In additionto the interviews a questioniare were sent out to a selection of students. The studyalso contained an interview with a pedagogue as well as studies of the current andexisting textbooks and teaching aids that is used on the school we are looking into.During the study we consulted educated pedagogues to get an understanding of thechildren and their learning and to be able to approach them in a suitable way.The theories we have been using were mainly from a typographic point of view.Other areas we explored were theories about reading processes. This study showedthat every child needs a method that is suitable for them and that the materialprovided today is typographically inconsistent. The childrens and teachers needs andwishes in typography did not correspond with the current teaching aids design. From this study the followning points were made about how to design a textbook forchildren in the first grade:? The typeface should be a sans serif.? The point size should be bigger than 12 points.? Text should be aligned to the left.? Sentences should be short without becoming abstract.? To maintain focus on the text the layout should be simple and unbarked.? The format should be designed after the pourpose of the publication, forexample when it is a complement to the textbook, the format should be of suchcharacter that it is easy for the children to bring home.? There should be a typographical consistency through all of the materialsprovided to the children..

Abstrakt Produkten som jag har utvecklat är en mjukvarubaserad 3D-renderare. För att göra en sådan produkt är man tvungen att gå djupt in i området 3D och utföra alla beräkningar på egen hand. Dessa tar annars grafikkortet hand om. Denna rapport förklarar varför jag har valt att göra en egen mjukvarubaserad 3D- renderare och vad den är för något och i vilka områden den används. Här förklaras även min syn på programmering, digitala spel, vad programmering innebär för mig och hur min syn på spel har påverkat mig med tiden.
