The purpose of this study has been to make an inventory of combustible waste in the region around Norrköping and to investigate the composition of domestic waste, industrial waste and two different types of sludge. The work was performed at the request of Norrköping Miljö & Energi, due to the planning of an incineration plant. The inventory of the waste was performed through inspection of environmental impact reports, from waste disposal plants in a number of local government areas in the region. The quantities were also compared to another inventory, carried out in a different way. The characterisation of the wastes was compared to the fuel specification determined by Norrköping Miljö & Energi.

StrÀvan efter att överleva pÄ den globala marknaden och att möta kunders efterfrÄgningar har lett till en internationalisering av företag.Detta krÀver ett samarbete mellan organisationer som Àr lokaliserade i olika lÀnder. I ett samarbete krÀvs effektiv kommunikation med ett flöde av förstÄlig och meningsfull information mellan involverade parter.

Abandoned and unused railway structures often possess great potential if they are reclaimed and reused for new purposes. The thesis focuses on the global trend of restoring and revitalizing these areas, converting them into park areas, rail trails and green corridors in the city landscape, while preserving their ecological, social, esthetic and historic values. These rail areas were often abandoned when industries moved out from the cities, either to industrial areas or abroad. The use of railways for transporting industrial goods was also replaced to a large extent my motorized road vehicles in the mid 20th century, leaving the rails under-utilized. Because of their location and intrinsic values, they can be reused for important functions, such as green areas in the city environment, providing space for recreational activities and exercise and social meetings and interactions. I have closely investigated the three park areas High Line in New York, Promenade PlantĂ©e in Paris and Schöneberger SĂŒdgelĂ€nde in Berlin, which have all gone through this transformation in recent years. I have summarized my conclusions in three key concepts to consider: design for social values, preserve the architectural history, and leave room for future evolution. The final part of my work is a design program for an abandoned railways area in Stockholm: Eriksdal railway area.

I denna studie undersöks skandinavisk grannsprÄksförstÄelse pÄ en arbetsplats med anstÀllda frÄn Danmark, Norge och Sverige. Syftet Àr att ta reda pÄ hur den skandinaviska sprÄkgemenskapen tar sig konkret uttryck pÄ arbetsplatsen. Materialet, som omfattar ett möte och tvÄ intervjuer, analyseras med utgÄngspunkt i ackommodationsteorin och CA (Conversation Analysis), samt i tidigare forskning om skandinavisk grannsprÄksförstÄelse.Resultaten visar dels att viss ackommodation (sprÄkliga anpassningar) görs i de interskandinaviska samtalen, dels att förstÄelsen Àr asymmetrisk: de svenska medarbetarna tycks ha svÄrare Àn sina skandinaviska kolleger att förstÄ grannsprÄken. FrÀmst har de svÄrt att förstÄ talad danska, och vÀljer dÀrför ofta att tala engelska med sina danska kolleger. Talad norska förstÄs dÀremot betydligt bÀttre av svenskarna.

The aim of this study was to investigate how disabled pupils feel about school lessons in physical education. Previous studies in the area show that many disabled pupils think that this is a problem. Drawing on data from one-to-one semi-structured interviews with six students in the age of 11-14 years, this study focused on how students with disability cope with their impairments and physical activity in school. The interviewees? background displays a wide range of sport related activities and besides school the interviewees seem to be engaged in different sports associations on their leisure time.

Through geopolitical theory this thesis explores how conflicts within states can be read and understood according to an analytical model determining one or several possible causes for the conflict.  The model is created by the author and reflects geopolitical theory by giving three possible explanations to an intrastate conflict: culture, economy or territorial construction. The aim of the thesis is testing this model on two selectively chosen case studies ? i.e. two intrastate conflicts ? namely: the upcoming referendum in Scotland and the terror attack at Tiananmen Square in China.

Effects of climate change, urbanization and global homogenization are resulted in the degradation of land and losses of natural habitats. Ecological design integrates nature into urban environment by respecting natural ecological principles and processes and creating resilient urban biotopes which also can be used by local urban communities. The aim of the thesis is to answer the research questions: How ecological design principles can be applied for re-design of Toledo Riverfront (with requirements of the design competition)? and What is the ecological design in landscape architecture? I participated in the USA design competition with the aim to create a vision and redesign of Toledo Riverfront in Ohio State, USA. The site is located in the south point of Lake Erie. As a result of a long industrial activity, riverfront of Toledo had been transformed into inaccessible and abandoned brownfields. In my proposal I applied ecological design principles on three scales: the city of Toledo by reinforcing of ecological connection and creating green corridors along the river; the intermediate scale by suggesting public parks along the river front and on the fine level by proposing detailed design including remediation of the site and use of dredged material.

Förebyggande metoder kan vara hands free-teknik och neutral zon, dubbla handskar eller trubbig suturnÄl. Syfte: Att med denna intervjustudie belysa vad operationssjuksköterskan anvÀnder för metoder för att förebygga tillbud av stick- och skÀrskador. Metod: Studien var en semistrukturerad intervjustudie med fyra yrkesverksamma operationssjuksköterskor inom perioperativ omvÄrdnad. Materialet transkriberades och analyserades med manifest innehÄllsanalys och presenterades i tema och kategorier.

Violence is put in a specific context when the police are the perpetrator of violence rendering violence possibly legitimate through sovereignty. The possibility of legitimization of police violence raises important questions of how such violence is legitimized and how resistance is conceived of and defined. I have interviewed seven people in Sweden from different backgrounds, all of whom share the experience of having been subjugated to police violence, including threats, harassments and physical violence.This paper analyzes the performativity of police violence through the relations between police violence, power, sovereignty, subjectstatus and resistance, in order to understand how police violence is being legitimized and to understand its consequenses with respect to those subjugated to it. I?ve also analyzed if this violence is being politicized and, in that case, how politicization is made possible.

The aim of the study was to examine how substance abuse influences social relationships to families, friends and others. Five ex addicts in a treatment centre were interviewed. We used thematic interviews with themes that we regarded as relevant for our study. In the analysis we applied the theoretical concept of symbolic interactionism. Theories of emotions also helped us to explain feelings that arise in the social relationships.

Aim: The purpose of this study is to explore how the media through a certain discourse constructs a view of the labor market and the power relations between companies, unions and employees. The goal is to explore this through studying the media coverage of SAS? financial situation between September-December 2012 and our research question is the following: What view of the labor market and its power relations was constructed and reproduced by Swedish newspapers through their portrayal of SAS during September-December 2012?Method: This study analyses the findings with the help of questions based on theories of social constructivism, discourse, agenda-setting and power. A content and discourse analysis was compiled of 360 articles from five Swedish newspapers that addressed SAS and their situation from September-December 2012. The results of these analyses were further processed using power analysis and John Gaventa?s power cube.Results: In this study we conclude that the medial discourse constructs identities of the different actors and affect power relations between them, in favor of the company.

The purpose of this study was to examine and explain Sweden?s defence and security policy during the twenty-first century. The method that was used in this research was a case study. The material that was used were government documents focusing on this area of policy, and numerous books concerning the theoretical perspectives on international relations and defence security policy. The study is of an explaining art and the analysis explains Sweden?s security and defence policy during the twenty-first century. The analysis explains this by testing it against a liberal and a realist view on international relations. The conclusion of the study is that Sweden?s defence and security policy has been liberal during this time period ? and still is.

Föreliggande studie behandlar frÄgan om hur kvinnor som behandlingsassistenter upplever sin arbetssituation, om hur de upplever arbetskrav och om de upplever meningsfullhet och glÀdje pÄ sin arbetsplats. Studien genomfördes genom intervjuer med fem kvinnliga behandlingsassistenter, dÀr teman och frÄgor som arbetskrav, genus och arbetsbeskrivning togs upp. Intervjuerna genomfördes pÄ ett behandlingshem i VÀstra Götaland. Studien visade att intervjupersonerna upplevde att de som kvinnor inte nÄdde upp till de fysiska krav som stÀlldes pÄ dem, de var stÀndigt tvungna att vara fokuserade och lyhörda pÄ sin arbetsplats samt att de som behandlingsassistenter lÀrt sig sköta sitt arbete professionellt och inte ta Ät sig av pÄfrestningar frÄn klienter. Intervjupersonerna kÀnde meningsfullhet och glÀdje i sitt arbete eftersom att minnen de skapat med klienterna gav dem en kÀnslomÀssig innebörd.
