The purpose of this essay was to examine pupils who leave the Swedish nine-year compulsory school system without reaching the requirements for the Swedish senior high school, and then to compare with those who reach the requirements. I used the following questions to help me reach this purpose:- Where in life are those pupils who reached the requirements for the Swedish senior high school?- Where in life are those pupils who did not reach the requirements for the Swedish senior high school?- What differences are noticeable between these two groups?The method that I used to examine these questions was to send out a questionnaire to the pupils. I also tried to make an explanation to the results with the help of Erwin Goffmanns theories.The result of this essay shows that there is not a big difference between the two groups. They both did equally well after they finished the Swedish nine-year compulsory school..

Undersökningen handlar om bemötande inom hemtjänstarbete. Centrala begrepp i uppsatsen är bemötande, kommunikation och social interaktion. Uppsatsen bygger på kvalitativa intervjuer samt deltagande observationer där resultatet grundar sig på information från personal och personliga tolkningar. Informationen innefattar egna tankaroch erfarenheter från personalen om hemtjänstarbetet och om de centrala begreppen. Syftet med uppsatsen är att se hur de olika möten mellan personla och omsorgstagare fungerar och hur man går tillväga för att få en fungerande kommunikation.

Uppsatsen tar upp hotellreceptionisters känsloarbete samt det eventuella skådespel de använder sig av i interaktionen med gäster samt medarbetare. Eftersom deras positionering är centralt belagd i hotellets huvudentré är det oftast receptionisterna som först möter gästerna när de kommer innanför hotellets dörrar. Följden av deras placering samt yrkesroll innebär att de får stå ut med gästernas bekymmer, klagomål, aggressioner och andra känslor. Den övergripande frågeställningen för studien är därmed: Hur hanterar hotellreceptionister sin serviceroll, och vilket känsloarbete utför de i interaktionen med gäster och medarbetare? Uppsatsen utgår teoretiskt från dramaturgisk teori och emotionsteori främst representerat av Erving Goffman och Arlie Hochschild.

Syftet med denna studie är att ur ett aktörsperspektiv få en djupare förståelse för hur gymnasielärare skapar, agerar och upprätthåller sin lärarroll i klassrummet. Studien använder sig av interaktionsteorier för att kunna förklara hur lärare väljer att uppföra sig i interaktion med elever. Studien utfördes med en kvalitativ metod med halvstrukturerade intervjuer och en intervjuguide. Fem gymnasielärare som arbetar på samma skola med olika ämnen intervjuades. Den insamlade empirin har analyserats utifrån Herbert Blumers symboliska interaktionism och Erving Goffmans dramaturgiska perspektiv av individers roller.Resultatet i studien visar att gymnasielärarna vet hur de vill bli uppfattade av elever och att de reagera i klassrumssituationer utan att ha aktivt förberett sig inför interaktionen med eleverna.

The aim of this essay was to understand how teachers identify and deal with the problems surrounding economic vulnerability among their students.  A qualitative study method was conducted by seven semi-structured interviews with teachers from a big city in Sweden. When analyzing my result I found support in Goffman's stigma theory as well as in previous research. The teachers identify economic vulnerability amongst their students through their material belongings, when the class does something extraordinary, and through how the students communicate. Problems that the teachers can see in the classroom for economically disadvantaged students are that they can be aggressive, unruly and become introverted. Problems with studies and shoplifting are also common.

In this essay we aimed to find how economic scarcity among children and youth presents itself in school, according to how school staff experience it. We have conducted interviews with student welfare staff to hear their experiences of this subject and how the schools try to help these pupils. We have used interpretative phenomenology as a base for our work. We have also used some of this traditions most important notions along with notions of Erving Goffman and Sara Ahmed during our processing off the material.  With help from these, we report our most interesting results. We have seen that a lack of resources exists among youth today and that everyone not has easy access to things many of us might take for granted.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att med hjälp av Erving Goffmans dramaturgiska perspektiv undersöka biblioteket TioTretton som plats för rollgestaltning och ta reda på vilka slags roller som görs tillgängliga för barn som besöker biblioteket. Detta har gjorts genom att intervjua skolärare och bibliotekspersonal och analysera deras tal om barnen och biblioteket. Resultatet visar att TioTretton kan ses som en bakre region i förhållande till det vuxna samhället i stort, men också till de team som utgörs av barnen själva och deras umgängeskretsar. Det har även framkommit att den vuxnes roll i förhållande till barnen varierar. Vikten av någon som leder framträdandet, oavsett utgångspunkt, framhålls dock överlag.

Syftet med den här uppsatsen var att undersöka hur 40-talisterna hanterar åldrandet. Våra frågeställningar lyder så här: att undersöka om den äldre generationen känner sig stigmatiserad från samhället. Är det ?inne? att vara ung? Vad är ungdom? Vem har skapat den här normen, och hur påverkar det de som ?inte är unga?? Det andra frågeställningen är att även undersöka om våra informanter utför olika åtgärder för att motverka den naturliga processen av fysiskt åldrande och om så är fallet, hur kommer dessa till uttryck? Använder de skönhetsprodukter? Klär de sig på ett visst sätt och i så fall, varför gör de det? Vi använde oss av kvalitativa intervjuer där 8 informanter blev intervjuade.För att kunna analysera vårt resultat har vi använt oss av teorier av Bauman, Skeggs, Goffman och Giddens. Det som framläggs i uppsatsen är att informanterna lever efter ungdomsidealet och att de använder olika åtgärder för att kunna passa in i normen.

Syftet med studien var att få en förståelse för hur ungdomar dömda till sluten ungdomsvård uppfattar sig själva och hur institutionstiden påverkar deras självuppfattning. Studiens vetenskapsteoretiska perspektiv är Socialkonstruktionism och det teoretiska perspektivet är Symbolisk interaktionism. Teorier som används rör Självets socialisation (Mead, 1977 & Berger & Luckmann, 1979), Stämpling och avvikelse (Becker, 1991) samt Totalainstitutioner (Goffman, 1961). Studien bygger på kvalitativa semistruktureradeintervjuer med fem ungdomar dömda till sluten ungdomsvård och som vid intervjutillfället avtjänade sina straff på ett av Statens institutionsstyrelses ungdomshem. Slutsatser som kunde dras av studien var att ungdomarna upplevde sig som avvikande och var rädda för att stämplas som avvikare efter sin tid på institutionen.

This paper is a literature study on search engine optimization (SEO) considering the leader of the search engine market: Google. There´s an introductory background description of Google and its methods of  crawling the Internet and indexing the web pages, along with a brief review of the famous PageRank algorithm. The purpose of this paper is to describe the major important methods for improved rankings on Google´s result lists. These methods could be categorized as on-page methods tied to the website to be optimized or off-page methods that are external to the website such as link development. Furthermore the most common unethical methods are described, known as ?black hat?, which is the secondary purpose of the text.

This paper focuses on how young people use and are affected by Facebook. The study embodies students from the social work program in Sweden and their view on Facebook use. Earlier research has shown that Facebook use has increased among youths. At the same time research tells us that social interaction plays an important part in shaping our identity. It is from those stands that we base this paper on, and explore our interview persons answer after the theories of Erving Goffman and the people who have studied him, such as Bernie Hogan and Zeynep Tufekci.

This is an essay about how disabled young people look upon themselves and their handicap. The purpose of the essay was to illustrate how the identy and self-image of young disabled persons is formed during their youth, and also how they experience their handicap during this time in life when you compare yourself with friends and other significant persons.My questions were:1. In what ways is the identity and self-image affected by being handicapped?2. Which experiencies do handicapped young people have when it comes to how other people treats them?3.

The aim of this study was to examine young adult cannabis users? attitudes towards cannabis and their perception of the normalization of cannabis. The purpose was also to explore how their views of cannabis correspond with norms regarding cannabis. This study is based on interviews with five young adult cannabis users. The theoretical framework is based on Parker?s normalization thesis, Goffman?s notion of stigma, Becker?s definition of outsiders and the definition of social identity developed by Stone.

The aim of this study examines how two groups of social workers at two workplaces reflect to their own clothes in various work situations. We want to gain an understanding of the variables that affects social workers choice of clothes at work. In a qualitative approach the study is based on two focus group-interviews and four semi structured interviews. Empirically analyzes relate to Pierre Bourdieu?s "la distinction, Ervin Goffman?s "frontstage-backstage", and of Michele Foucault?s power concepts.

This study elucidates the feelings and the experiences by working with the complex of problems of self-injurious behaviour, of six professionals. The purpose with this study has been to examine the feelings and the experiences of the professionals, coming up when they meet and treat young girls with self-injurious behaviour. The empirical basis of this study is built on interviews of six female professionals, working in the County of Kalmar. The statements of the informants were analyzed out of Goffman?s Role Theory and the norm perspective on social behaviour.
