Music Television : en TV-kanals förändring i ett nytt medieklimat
Purpose/Aim: The purpose of this essay is to analyze and discuss how MTV is affected by the development that takes place on the world?s media market. The aim is also to see how MTV?s target group?s image of the channel can give guidelines in how MTV should act in this new media era.Material/method: I have examined the development on the media market and then created a model consisting of relevant factors that could affect a TV-channel today. Those factors and the two factors image and profile are then applied on MTV.
Klassisk medieanalys - nytt medium : En semiotisk analys av fyra tv-spel
I ett försök av mig att ge spelmediet samma sorts behandling som många andra medier före det har jag valt ut fyra spel inom två olika genrer för en analys av deras handling, karaktärer, estetik och gameplay. Handlingen summeras enligt reglerna för narrativt berättande och en semiotisk infallsvinkel används sedan för att leta efter saker, tecken, som är värda att tas upp för analys i alla fyra kategorierna. Vissa jämförelser görs mellan spelen, främst inom kategorierna estetik och gameplay, först inom samma genre och sedan genrerna emellan för hitta likheter och skillnader i sättet spelutvecklarna har valt att utmana spelaren och göra spelen roliga att spela och hur de har valt att förmedla spelens handling. De utvalda spelen är Capcoms Devil May Cry 3: Dante?s Awakening, Sony Computer Entertainment Americas God of War, Konamis Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty och Ubisofts Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory.
Debatten kring e-böcker på folkbibliotek
The increased popularity of e-books in the Swedish publiclibraries started a debate in newspapers and library journalsbecause of the increase in costs, which this popularity hadled to. The main subject of the debate was the businessmodel provided by the e-book vendor Elib, which accordingto some ruins the libraries financially. In this thesis, opinionarticles have been analyzed using a theoretical model ofcultural politics by the Danish Library and Informationscience researcher Dorthe Skot-Hansen. The results of thestudy showed that people from the library field, publishersand authors were the ones contributing to the debate. Theanalysis of the articles showed that the model of culturalpolitics which consists of four general motives: socialchange, education, economic growth and Entertainment wasvisible in the articles.
The show must go on : En uppsats om projektledning i underhållningsbranschen
Underhållningsbranschen är en bransch som alltid arbetat i projektform. Trots det finns det inte tillräckligt med empiriska studier på projektledning inom underhållningsbranschen, speciellt inte i Sverige. Många författare menar att de teorier som finns kring projektledning är för ensidiga och inte kan tillämpas på alla former av projekt. För att öka kunskapen inom projektledning behövs därför fler empiriska studier inom olika typer av branscher. Projekt i underhållningsbranschen är intressanta, mycket på grund av att de till skillnad från andra branscher oftast lyckas hålla tiden.
Tolfternas samkväm : folkbildning och bibliotek för arbetarkvinnor 1902-1907
Tolfterna was a popular education organization that existed between 1896 and1964 and that arranged social evenings and set up a library for working women. This thesis purpose is to investigate Tolfternas's activities in 1902-1907 and hereby place Tolfterna in the education- and library history. The thesis examines the library catalog and the protocols from the social evenings and analyses them by means of the popular education ideologies of the early 1900's: Patriarchal education, civic education, self-education and the domestic/housewife ideal.The analysis shows that the organizers of Tolfterna as well as the working women who visited the social evenings had political and social interests. This places Tolfterna in a civic education context.The social evenings contained a mix of politically orientated discussions, traditional lectures and Entertainment as music and reading. The library had self-education orientation, it contained mostly fiction and was run by the working women.
Boktips från biblioteket: En kvalitativ textanalys utifrån Boktips.net
In this Master's Thesis a rhetorical analysis is applied to reading suggestions in the database Boktips.net. Boktips.net utilize the Internet for readers advisory by offering public libraries in Sweden to use and participate to its contents. The aim is to examine how library staff writes about literature in Boktips.net. The empirical material is delimited to reading suggestions on fiction for adults. Areas in focus of the analysis are rhetorical context, disposition, style and components from the point of view of content: summary, evaluation on portrayal of characters and setting, narrative, language use, genre and themes, Entertainment, insights and external information.

This Masters thesis is a study of the truck-driver profession and their use of libraries located in gas-stations and restaurants along the highways in Sweden. The reason for this interest is the positive trend that has occurred concerning men without any university education and their reading-habits, that is due to their increased interest in listening to audio books. This challenges the general opinion that this group is not particularly interested in reading literature. Questions posed in this study are: How do the truck-drivers relate to the activity of reading literature, what part does the road-libraries play, and how can the services that the road-libraries offer be improved according to the truck-drivers. The method used in the study is interviews made by telephone.

The aim of this master?s thesis is to investigate how adults describe their individual reading experiences, on the basis of their own reflections by keeping a reading diary. Reading diaries kept during two months and a qualitative questionnaire for each of our nine motivated and advanced adult readers, were analyzed by using qualitative content analysis. The study was carried out on the Internet. The theoretical framework that served as a point of departure is Ross? and Chelton?s model for the process of choosing a book to read for pleasure, Nussbaum?s moral philosophy and thesis ?Reading for life? and Mukar?ovský?s theory of the aesthetic value.

The material of the essay exists of two games and five reviews. The method that is being used is a content analysis. The games that are being analysed are Jade Empire and Grand Theft Auto ? San Andreas.Main results: The video games are often connected to brutal violence but the analysis of the game Jade Empire shows that it is possible to hve control of the violence in the games and that the player has a possibility to choose the outcome of violence.

Purpose/Aim: To investigate why people in the age group of 30-40 subscribe to the traditional morning newspaper even though they can get the same information at a much lower cost from for example TV, the internet or the free daily papers. The aim is to also look at possible future alternatives to the traditional morning newspaper.Material/Method: Focus group interviews were used to gather the empirical material. These consisted of a total number of twelve people, divided into three groups. The results from the focus group interviews were analysed with help from established uses & gratifications theories and two diffusion theories.Main results: This study shows that people read the traditional morning newspaper to get a good mixture of Entertainment and local, national and global news. It is relaxing to read the newpaper on paper compared to reading it on the internet, mainly because you get a good overview which makes it a lot easier to find exactly want you want to read.
Risk för kardiovaskulär sjukdom och cancer bland skift och nattarbetande sjuksköterskor
I uppsatsen har vi valt att undersöka de motivationsfaktorer som ligger till bakgrund för att arbeta inom en kreativ miljö och huruvida det finns andra faktorer som påverkar den enskilde individens motivation. En kvalitativ undersökning har gjorts dels i två fokusgrupper (team) och dels som intervjuer med fokusgruppernas teamledare inom företaget, Ubisoft Massive Entertainment AB. För att ha ett bättre underlag innan intervjutillfällena har vi studerat olika teorier och artiklar som knyter an till de frågeställningar som vi har valt att ställa. Avslutningsvis har det empiriska materialet analyserats och diskuterats utifrån de teorier som handlar om motivation och kreativitet. Resultatet av undersökningen visar på tre övergripande områden som påverkar motivationen.

Reading and analyzing literature has a long tradition of being an essential part of the teaching of English in Sweden. As the offers of Entertainment have increased in popular culture with the introduction of computer games, internet and other media, interest in reading novels has decreased. Literature is still a compulsory part of English teaching and the question is how teachers of today use literature and what kind of literary instruction they use.The aim of this study is to explore and discuss the literary instruction discourse in pedagogical texts, lessons, created by and for English teachers of Swedish Upper Secondary Schools. The lessons have been collected from the site lektion.se, where teachers are able to share knowledge and lessons. The study uses an analytical method based on Norman Fairclough´s Critical Discourse Analysis in order to analyze the lessons.

Our study shows if and how Swedish public service television has changed its content from the time when SVT had monopoly until this day when the competition is greater than ever. We got an insight in what has been presented to the audience by studying TV schedules from 1975 to 2009. The study examines four weeks during the years when the two main channels SVT1 and SVT2 have been broadcasting. One week each of these following years have been examined: 1975, 1985, 1995 and 2009. These years have been chosen to get an insight in what content the TV schedules presented before and after SVT got competition in the Swedish TV market.

Beacon AB has been producing Gobos for some time. A Gobo is a small round sheet used in projectors almost like a slide. It is used mostly in the commercial and Entertainment business. Today these Gobos are created by using a film (also called mask). A digital exposure machine called LIOS has been developed to make it possible to create Gobos using direct exposure.

This is a study which aim is to analyze how employees within the care of disabled in Umeå have perceived educational movies. The movies that the staff has watched are a part of a basic training program, which all employees are required to fulfill.
