A Green Belt of synergies : a study on the implementation of a contemporary Green Belt

The prevailing urban migration is a worldwide process. This results in growing cities and a diminishing proportion of people living in the countryside. As the urbanization continues a large amount of the world?s population is expected to live in urban settlements of informal character by 2050. Green Belt has for many years been used to control urban growth and to secure the sustention of larger green areas around towns and cities.

När IT-bubblan växte så enormt under slutet av 90-talet pumpade investerare in kapital i företagen. Mycket av pengarna gick till enorma löner, speciellt till dem som var riktigt kunniga. När bubblan sedan sprack gick många företag omkull, och de som trots allt klarade sig fick en svidande läxa och blev tvungna att tänka mer långsiktigt.Med den bakgrunden tyckte vi det var intressant att se hur IT-företag gör idag för att behålla kompetens, utan att för den skull betala astronomiska löner. Vi fokuserar därför på de aspekter som i första hand inte är av monetär karaktär, såsom en hög lön, aktier eller optioner.Uppsatsen innehåller en fallstudie av Combitech. Vi har valt att göra två intervjuer, en intervju med en chef och en intervju med en anställd.

Inköpssamarbeten mellan oberoende företag

The aim of this paper is to present a case study that increases the understanding of pooled purchasing between independent companies, but also acknowledges the importance of relationships. While previous research has established the advantages and disadvantages of pooled purchasing, our paper shows that successful relationships can render additional synergies and benefits. At the same time, one must consider the time and resources needed to create successful relationships as well as the resulting interdependencies. These implications are well established within the field of purchasing and network theories. En studie om psykosociala arbetsmiljöfaktorer på ett dykföretag i Thailand med fokus på motivation och välmående

Problematik: Precis som många andra turismföretag så präglas dykföretag av säsongsarbete. Under lågsäsongen arbetar året runt personalen med få turister och kollegor och under högsäsongen arbetar de intensivt tillsammans med säsongsarbetare i ett halvårs tid i en destination full av turister. När lågsäsongen närmar sig minskar turistmängden och säsongsarbetarna. Det är en livsstil för båda grupperna, men också en tillfällig period för säsongsarbetarna och en vardag för året runt personalen. Personalen har således olika förutsättningar, intressen och behov och deras arbetsmotivation skiljer sig beroende på om de är åretruntarbetare eller säsongarbetare.

The Swedish construction industry is dominated by men; however this is starting to change. The average age of Construction Engineers is high and approximately 40 per cent of the employees will retire by the year 2015. Currently, female engineers dominate the graduating classes of Swedish Universities but this is not reflected in the Swedish Construction industry.With so many female engineers available, why is this? Does it require a change in company culture and their condition of work to attract them? Is it the attitude towards women in the industry among the employees that has to be changed? Or is it a woman?s thoughts and prejudices of the industry that creates obstacles?The purpose of this final thesis is to describe how contracting firms in the construction industry can make themselves more attractive for female engineers. To reach the purpose, a study among salaried employees and craftsmen was conducted.

The purpose of the study is to investigate into professional knowledge of the bilingual teachers, compared to monolingual, and what benefits they give to pre-school. Qualitative method was used to get an understanding of informant´s perspective on bilingual teachers. The informants believe that bilingual teachers are able to understand all the children. A bilingual teacher can make the children feel secure. If one has a positive attitude toward bilingualism, the bilingual children also show a positive attitude that in turn contributes to learning and development of the language..

Developing Dynamic Outsourcing - Bringing continuous added value to the ABB Full Service partnership

Executive summary This master thesis was originally based on a specific assignment given to the authors from ABB Full Service, a unit specializing in providing maintenance outsourcing: ?How can ABB Full Service expand its offering of providing fundamental maintenance by seamlessly incorporating the business concept with competencies and solutions from other ABB divisions?? The academic issue was developed throughout the thesis, resulting in the following formulation: ?From an organizational perspective; how can service providers bring continuous added value to intra-organizational outsourcing partnerships?? Many of the key findings of this thesis are reflected in the issue. The term intra-organizational outsourcing is a proposed addition to the terminology in the academic discourse on outsourcing. The definition of the term is: ? Where an organization outsources a business process interlinked with the physical operations, requiring the service provider to take over a preexisting unit and its employees.This is an accurate description of the form of outsourcing that ABB Full Service is engaged in.

Psykosocial arbetsmiljö och ledarskap: en kvalitativ studie om anställdas upplevelser av den psykosociala arbetsmiljön med fokus på ledarskap

Previous research has shown that the psychosocial work environment and leadership have a significant influence on the employees work satisfaction. Still there is much to explore regarding the employees experiences about these two subjects. A qualitative approach was used in this study to increase the understanding of the employee´s experience of psychosocial work environment and leaders role affecting it. Eight semi structured interviews were carried out at two organizations with four interviews in each place. The data was transcribed and a meaning concentration analysis was conducted.

IAS 19 : en studie om redovisningen av förmånsbestämda pensionsplaner

Införandet av IAS 19 Employee Benefits medförde förändringar och nyheter i Svenska börsnoterade bolags sätt att redovisa förmånsbestämda pensionsplaner. IAS 19 ställer krav på en enhetlig redovisning av ett företags samtliga pensionsförpliktelser. Standarden fordrar en nuvärdeberäkning av pensionsförpliktelsen utifrån aktuariella antaganden fastställda av företaget samt en ökad upplysningsplikt för att underlätta bedömningen av pensionsskulder och pensionskostnader. Just redovisningen av förmånsbestämda pensionsplaner ses av många som komplicerat varför vi såg det som en utmaning att fördjupa oss i detta. Vår problemformulering blev därför:Hur redovisar företag sina förmånsbestämda pensionsplaner enligt IAS 19?Syftet med vår studie är att närmare granska de aktuariella antaganden som företagen fastställer samt hur processen med att ta fram antagandena ser ut.

Fotodelning på Facebook : Hur användare i olika åldrar upplever och förhåller sig till risker

It?s not unusual for people to upload photos to the Internet nowadays. Despite the fact that there are benefits from doing this, there are also some risks that people should take into consideration before they share private photos. The aim of this survey was to investigate how users of different ages respond to risks related to photo sharing on Facebook. The participants were between the ages of 16 and 64.According to the results it appears that in some cases, even if they can?t be statistically proven, there are patterns that indicate that younger people are more careless and that older people are more careful when it comes to photo sharing on the Internet.

The goal of this master thesis project was to develop computer models of some plausiblepretreatment techniques and to assess the potential benefits/costs of using pretreatment andanaerobic digestion for waste management of organic waste from a system perspective. Forthis purpose a computer program called ORWARE has been used. ORWARE (organic wasteresearch) is a program for making life cycle assessments of waste management. As the mainpart of the project work the ORWARE system has been provided with three new models ofpretreatment techniques. The additions consist of: One model of pretreatment with ultrasound,one model of thermal hydrolysis and one model of a screw press.

The Potential of B2B Lovemarks: A Managerial Perspective on Strong B2B Brands

Kevin Roberts has extended the comprehension of strong consumer brands to a higher level where loyalty beyond reason is established. He calls this new status Lovemarks. As the concept of Lovemark has only been applied in B2C markets, this thesis is directed to find out the applicability of Lovemarks in B2B context. In order to fulfill the research purpose, three main questions are answered based on a cross-sectional research approach: What role do intangible factors play in B2B branding? Is the idea of B2C Lovemarks transferable to B2B context? How should a B2B Lovemark be characterized? The results of the qualitative interviews indicate insights of high investment and involvement, integrated brand communication, balance between function versus emotion, brand?s trustworthy personality, customer partnership, and finally, the potential establishment of B2B Lovemarks.

The physical map that has been used until now can in the modern days be replaced with digital maps available in smart phones and tablets. One disadvantage of both is that the digital maps require the user to have a fully functional sight. The problem with the research done so far is that it provides little explanation as to why developers have decided to design the maps in a specific way.
