The study is made in Nacka, a suburb of the capital of Sweden, Stockholm, and focuses on ?the parental school choice" that takes place when children start in first grade at the age of six. New differences in the number of pupils attending various municipal schools have appeared after reforms in the early 1990s giving parents free choice of elementary school for their children. Some schools are located in areas where most children have a middle class background, while others are placed in less attractive surroundings where the parents have a lower educational status, and are more often immigrants. Parents living in the latter kind of surroundings can now send their children to schools further off, but located in more attractive areas. This leads to some schools get an increasing number of pupils and others gets a decreasing.

Aphasia is a disease that brings on disability. The purpose of the study is to describe the daily life when afflicted with aphasia and gain a deeper understanding of persons with aphasia in working ages. The study was made with a qualitative approach with a combination of data sources; literature, internet lectures, live lectures, interviews with personnel in medical and educational services and three persons with aphasia. More research in aphasiology is welcome. This may be aimed at developing knowledge about the importance of communication, of active participation in the social environment, and the achievement of improved attitudes towards people with disabilities. This paper deals with the use of Internet at Swedish public libraries. The author asks whether public libraries should or should not limit access to information available on the Internet. Starting from the American discussion, concerning Internet at public libraries, the author shows the Swedish attitudes. The paper demonstrates that many Swedish public libraries have adopted rules forbidding retrieval of certain kinds of information, such as hard-core pornography and racist propaganda. The persons in charge of such actions claim that public libraries should provide high-quality educational literature and should not spread mass-produced, provocative information.

This work deals with the introductory course for immigrants (Introduktionskurs för invandrare ? IVIK) in the Swedish municipalities. I have studied how the participants in this education are brought into a Swedish understanding of religion, both in the formal SO (social studies) and when it comes to informal transferring of values.I have interviewed teachers and school leaders, interviews which I have then analysed.To understand the educational environment, I have used Antonio Gramsci´s theory of hegemony, as I perceive it, as well as Michel Foucault´s ideas of power and knowledge.I have found that fostering into a ?Swedish? view on religion appears in the education, implicitly as well as explicitly, though the informants tend to have an ambivalent opinion as to how this should be carried out, and to which extent..

Betydelsen av ett gott chefskap inom äldreomsorgen är av stor vikt för medarbetarna, de boende och verksamheten. Omvårdnadsarbetet påverkas av chefens sätt att arbeta och det krävs därför att chefen är medveten om vad som utgör ett bra chefskap. Intervjuerna i denna studie är utförda med sju enhetschefer inom äldreomsorgen i Sverige. Syftet var att undersöka hur enhetschefer inom svensk äldreomsorg uppfattar sitt chefsarbete inom detta verksamhetsområde. Resultatet visade att arbetssätt, relationer, förhållningssätt och utvecklingsarbete är faktorer som enligt dessa chefer utmärker ett bra chefskap.

The purpose of the study is to get a deeper understanding in how the teachers work withthe students during the pedagogic meal. This by observing teachers during the schoollunchand see which pedagogic activities takes place. The paper intends to investigatehow teachers relate to, and act according to the guidelines that are applicable to theeducational meal by both the Swedish government and the schools.The study was conducted with the help of observations studies in two elementaryschools. The objective of this study was to describe and analyze some of the conflicts in the class room using solution strategies from a human needs perspective. This was done by a qualitative in-vestigation based on the observations of the participants.The query of how every day conflicts arise in the class room and their reasons.The result was analyzed using reference frame in human needs theory. The results showed that there were several reasons for a conflict and its solution. It was also shown that creating a nice atmosphere in the class room was a continuous effort and the strategies of the teachers in a conflict situation were different depending on the situation. This report documents the process of designing a laboratory exercise in Fourier analysis at Vetenskapens Hus (House of Science) in Stockholm. The lab is designed for high school students studying science or technical education. It focuses on the physicalunderstanding and mathematical description of sound, in particular music. A model of such a lab is presented in this work; containing a review of the mathematical theory, summary of educational research in the field, descriptions of the design process and of the investigativework that led to the final result. The designed material for the lab includes developed computer programs, visit leader tutorial and description for teachers. .

The purpose of our study was to examine how three teachers and four students relate to the program "Fem myror" in teaching. We have been through qualitative interviews with two teachers and one special teacher received a detailed picture of how their literacy programs made in relation to the "Fem myror." Qualitative interviews have also been made with four students, a boy and three girls, in order to examine their attitude to the program. From educators? interview answers, we think we can say that the theory and practice conform to what we read in the literature may be associated with what we observed during our time in the business. The study has shown that all teachers believe the program will be a good educational tool to take to read and write.

Dropout among youth players is a problem in Swedish icehockey. Leaders in youth hockey teams work closely with players on an almost everyday basis during season and have a big influence on players and their activities. This study aims to identify possible reasons for dropouts by interviewing coaches and leaders in icehockey clubs. A total of eight coaches and leaders in different ice hockey clubs were interviewed.
