It has become increasingly common for a city or region to use sporting and media events to promote themselves. But what is behind these events? What kind of organisation is necessary to plan and run them? In the summer of 2009 the internationally known Volvo Ocean Race will arrive in Stockholm. The race is eight months long and will be hosted in Stockholm for almost the whole of June. The City of Stockholm is behind the event and Stockholm?s marinas will be responsible for making sure that everything runs smoothly and on schedule.

The purpose of this thesis was to get a deeper understanding of why and how companies work with background music in event marketing and also how it can affect on companies image. In our research a case study was conducted and based on interviews with four respondents who all have experience working with background music throughout their careers. The study has shown that background music can be a very effective promotion tool in event marketing when it's used in the right way. Furthermore this study has shown that companies consciously use background music to enhance the experience and emotional affect the attendant through choice of music and the music can affect companies' image. Event marketing combined with background music is an effective tool for companies to generate positive associations to image and to reach their target group when right music is correctly conducted..

Volvo Construction Equipment AB Components Division i Eskilstuna är mitt inne i ett omorganisationsarbete där fabriken byggs om från funktionsverkstad till flödesorienterade grupper detta för att effektivt möta den växande orderingången. När gruppernas värdeflöden tydligtgjorts återstår ett intensivt arbete med att optimera ledtider, lagernivåer och produkter i arbete med mera. Ett kraftfullt verktyg för att stötta detta arbete är diskret händelsestyrd (DE) simulering. Det har genomförts flertalet DE simuleringar tidigare på företaget, då främst av konsulter. I den nya fabriken finns en önskan om att utföra detta arbete själv.

Uppsatsens syfte är att beskriva arbetsprocessen i ett event och visa på skillnader mellan de olika aktörernas synsätt. Den grundar sig på studier av två eventbyråer; en stor, marknadsledande och en liten, nystartad. I uppsatsens analys diskuteras framförallt skillnaderna mellan de som planerar eventet och de som genomför det. Här kan det ibland uppstå vissa spänningar. Utifrån två metaforer angrips problematiken de skilda synsätten och författarna diskuterar varför spänningarna kan uppstå, samt hur organisationen kan göra för att försöka undvika dem..

Tanken bakomarkitekturen är att kunna spåra vad, när och hur data förändras i ett system samtmöjlighet att återskapa tidigare tillstånd, jämfört med traditionella system som endastlagrar, hanterar och presenterar data i dess nuvarande tillstånd. The society of today is overflowed with information and commercials. There is a thick media noise that the marketers finds hard to penetrate. Bearing this in mind, we can see that Event Marketing, witch is marketing through events, has grown to be a popular form of communication as it has an ability to work its way through the existing media noise. Through events a company can strengthen its brand and image as well as form a lasting relationship with its consumers. What other functions does Event Marketing possess? In what context is Event Marketing an appropriate marketing strategy to use? These are two questions that we aim to answer through this essay.To be able to answer these questions we interviewed the marketing manager of two different companies, L´oréal and TeliaSonera.

Ordet upplevelse används idag av många företag i olika branscher för att beskriva företagets tjänsteutbud. Inom marknadsföring används upplevelser för att tränga igenom det tilltagande mediebruset och för relationsbyggande åtgärder. Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka huruvida eventbyråer profilerade inom relationsskapande event marketing använder begreppet upplevelse och vad det har för betydelse för deras verksamhet. Med ett hermeneutiskt förhållningssätt och en induktiv ansats har jag genomfört en kvalitativ intervjustudie baserad på intervjuer med sju eventbyråer. Studien visar att upplevelse som fenomen är en viktig effekt av relationsskapande event marketing, men att det finns en paradox ifråga om användningen och beskrivningen av begreppet.

A Monte Carlo simulation of the ELECTRA reactor using (U,Zr)N fuel and a liquid lithium coolant is performed using the Serpent simulation code. The results show a reactor with a total reactivity coefficient of the coolant, fuel and material expansion that is strongly negative. These properties make the ELECTRA reactor a good candidate for a safe space reactor that could be used for propulsion of manned and unmanned space vehicles to Mars and other parts of our solar system..

SMC is in the process of developing a micro simulation model. The existing micro simulation model developed at Cornell University for US data, CorSim, is one of the fundamental parts for the new micro simulation at SMC. To develop the Swedish model, Swedish data on all individuals in Sweden during 11 years are also available. These data are organized in a database. This paper describes the process of rebuilding the database to a more useful structure.

This is a case study of Carlstad Comic Con 2011 and 2012.The purpose is to study the event in relation to a project management and a local culture policy perspective. This in order to analyze the organization of a popular culture event and see how such a local event may benefit Karlstad as a city. Besides studying the organization of Carlstad Comic Con and its outcomes I am sketching a short cultural history of popular culture media and its context within recent year?s globalization.The study shows that the events have had a great beneficial impact on the local industry; lacking any negative sides, and have put Karlstad in an international context which goes directly in line with the standard guidelines for project management of region culture policy. Concerning how to organize the event the organizers have not followed a strict project structure.

Simulation of different systems can be done using a graphical model description of the system based on block diagrams. The simulation software Matlab/Simulink offers a lot of possibilities to describe a huge number of systems, which can be linear as well as nonlinear. The simulation using Matlab/Simulink is done by integration based on different kinds of numerical methods.When nonlinear Simulink-models are simulated, it is often interesting to apply a Kalman filter to handle the noise that may occur within the process as well as corrupting the measurement. However, application of such a filter leads to an extensive time-consumption despite using fast computers. The reason is that the existing Matlab functions are not constructed for time optimal evaluation.

I detta arbete har studerats hur flödet i en flerstegs- bearbetningsprocess påverkas av stokastiska fluktuationer och störningar i de enskilda processtegen. Mera bestämt har analys utförts av hur de stokastiska variationerna i operationstiderna kan och bör modelleras vid simuleringsstudier. Även hur påverkan av valet av sådana stokastiska modeller kan tänkas ha på processen i sin helhet, till exempel avseende total genomloppstid.Examensarbetet syftar till att undersöka hur val av fördelning på parametern operationstid, påverkar resultatfaktorn genomloppstid vid flödessimuleringar. För att finna svar på denna påverkan har en fallstudie utförts, med utgångspunkt av indata från en produkt som tillverkas på Volvo Aero. Denna produkt genomgår en tillverkningssekvens innehållande 18 stycken bearbetningsoperationer innefattande tre olika processtyper (automatisk, halvautomatisk och manuell).

At the department of Electronic Warfare Assessments at the Swedish Defence Research Agency in Linköping one of the activities is modelling and simulation of the duel between a robot and a target. The aim with this Master's thesis is to develop a simulation model of an hovering helicopter. First a theoretical description of the forces and moments acting on an helicopter is given. Then the equations of motion are derived. These equations are simplified to be valid only for a hovering helicopter and the result is a mathematical model.

The predominant forestry harvesting method is based on the harvester-forwarder method, theharvester folds, branches and cuts trees, and sorts the logs into piles, while a forwarder transportsthe logs to a landing area.This master thesis work is about realization of a dynamic forwarder simulation model, and itspurpose is to provide an integrated forwarder simulation model in MATLAB/SimMechanicswhere the forwarder is based on a concept using pendulum arms to connect wheels and chassis.Active suspension control is developed and implemented into the simulation model, and finallycompared in simulation with passive suspension.In a first step, an integrated forwarder simulation model is developed, containing a simplifiedforwarder model, a tire-to-ground interaction model and a test track model. The simplifiedforwarder model is based a rigid multi-body system with a spring-damper suspension of thependulum arms. The tire-to-ground interaction model calculates the reaction forces, friction fromthe ground and applies the propulsion force. The test track model is a simplified version of thereal test track in Skogforsk. The propulsion wheel torque control is used to regulate theforwarder speed.
