Abstract The technology has made it possible for you as a train traveller to be available in other places than stations and on the train. You now have the possibility to communicate by the phone or through the Internet to get information about the train you want to take. Development in mobile technology gives us new possibilities to communication. We want to find out whatever SMS would be a suitable approach to inform passengers about delays. The problem formulation is ?If the technology is available to inform the passengers about delays in an more effective way than today, then why not use it? The ?Kustpilen? that operates in Blekinge and Skåne is the case for our study.

Genom vår undersökning ville vi ta reda på om SALSA, Vodafones data warehouse tillgodoser användarnas informationsbehov. Som stöd för vår analys jämförde vi befintliga teorier inom områdena information samt data warehouse, med tillämpning i verkligheten genom vårt referensföretag. Undersökningen har utförts genom skriftliga intervjuer samt enkäter, där två olika undersökningsgrupper ingått. Den ena gruppen har utgjorts av SALSAs utvecklare och den andra av SALSAs användare. Den hypotes som vi arbetat med är "SALSA tillgodoser användarnas informationsbehov" med underfrågorna "Vilka krav kan användarna rimligen ställa på SALSA?", "Vilken information saknar användarna att få fram från SALSA?", "Vilka förslag på förbättringar gällande SALSA har användarna?" samt "Räcker användarforum för att framföra användarnas synpunkter på SALSA?". Då vi analyserat och bearbetat materialet från enkätundersökningen samt besvarat våra frågeställningar, har vi verifierat vår hypotes.

SOA eller tjänsteorienterad arkitektur har varit bokstavsförkortningen som tagit de flesta med storm de senaste åren. Det har även varit den arkitektur som åstadkommit mest uppståndelse i media. Dock har den i mediala skrifter så gott som uteslutande fått stående ovationer och nästan höjts till skyarna som frälsaren för alla verksamheter, stora som små. Denna studie ställer sig frågande till om medias bild av SOA verkligen stämmer överens med verkligheten samt huruvida SOA kan leva upp till de förväntningar som måttats.Målet med uppsatsen är att fungera som något av en motpol till den positiva kritik som SOA blivit tilldelad. Att få se båda sidor av samma mynt är således något av ett ledord som genomsyrat studien från början till slut.

Den här kandidatavhandlingen undersöker fördelarna och begränsningarna med Internetbaserade operativsystem i molnet, så kallade Internet OS, och hur IT-företag ser på ämnet. Internet OS är operativsystem som placerar sina resurser och processorkraft ute på Internet, ofta med hjälp av olika molnettjänster. Det finns problem och utmaningar med Internet OS. Dessa problem kan vara ett hinder för företag att överge de traditionella operativsystemen, som exempelvis Windows, och övergå till Internet OS. Det saknas undersökningar om IT-företag vill eller kan flytta sin verksamhet till molnet. Vi vill ge en tydligare bild och bidra med ny kunskap om företags syn på Internet OS. Arbetet har genomförts med en litteraturstudie som har fokuserats på vad den akademiska världen vet om Internet OS med fokus på Chrome OS. Litteraturstudie går in på fördelar och nackdelar, samt framtida visioner.

Today, "the digital library" is the common way of describing a managed collection of information, with associated services, stored in digital formats and accessible over a network. Digital libraries have mainly been developed at research libraries, but during the last few years public libraries have started to offer similar services.The aim of this Master's thesis is to study how the Swedish public libraries plan to develop their digital libraries according to their mission statements, and in what way they have implemented them at their web sites. 21 public libraries, the largest in each Swedish county, were investigated.The library mission statements are investigated to find out in what terms the digital libraries are described and to what extent. The library websites are examined with respect to what kind of digital services are offered, to what extent they supplement or replace the physical library, and if there are new digital services not found in the physical library.In most mission statements the digital library is referred to in sweeping terms like "IT activities" and "new media". However, a few of the libraries clearly regard the digital library as an important part of the future operations, speaking of it in well defined and extensive terms.The public library websites are relatively homogeneous when it comes to services supplementing physical library activities, like web access to the library catalogue and links to other library catalogues.

Man's life has changed in many ways since technology made it?s entry for public at large. In response to this change the science of human-machine interaction was invented. It has in turn evolved into human-computer interaction. With this science the focus is on the customization of the system for the actual person who will use it.The thesis has been implemented in a telecom company's development department.

The aim of this qualitative respondent investigation is to delve into the various views that teachers have concerning the ?One-to-One project?, as well as the use of computers as an aid in teaching. One-to-One means that teachers and students will be equipped with a laptop they can use at home and at school.This essay looks at how several factors have changed as a result of this. These factors are threefold: the role of the teacher, the teaching experience, and the student´s learning process. In order to answer the mentioned questions, four interviews have been conducted at two different high schools in southern Norrland.

The purpose of this media scientific study is to contribute to a better understanding about how blind people?s empowerment and participation may affect their role in the digital society.Earlier international studies in this area have shown that blind people not only need more knowledge then the seeing population about the computer, but also about the technology behind their tools for using Internet. The results from these studies have also shown that Internet increases the blind people?s independents and that those who use Internet feel more involved in the society.A qualitative method was chosen to study the three most common categories from the earlier studies: knowledge of technology, empowerment and participation. Are there differences in the results compared to our study in Sweden 2014?Interviews with eight blind, experienced computer users have shown that knowledge of technology is essential for their use of Internet and that the Internet increases their empowerment and their participation.

Studien är utförd på Hammarplast Consumer AB med syftet att skapa djupare förståelse i hur producerande verksamheter arbetar med sina ständiga förbättringar och hur de kan på ett strukturerat sätt utföra förbättringar i den dagliga styrningen för att nå konkurrenskraftig och hållbar utveckling.För att detta skulle uppnås dokumenterades företagets vision och utmaning, som sedan bröts ned till ett detaljrikt måltillstånd med hjälp av att nuläget analyserades i den valda processen. Därefter gjordes små, snabba steg och korrigeringar mot måltillståndet, vilket genomfördes med planering, genomföring, reflektering och uppföljning. Det gav förbättringar som var värdehöjande för företaget och som resulterade i ett steg närmare visionen. Det strukturerade tillvägagångssättet, kata, bidrog till att medarbetarna blev engagerade och involverade.I de avslutande kapitlen fördes en diskussion om hur företaget kan på ett strukturerat sätt utföra deras ständiga förbättringar i den dagliga styrningen som kommer att föra dem emot en konkurrenskraftig och hållbar utveckling..

Sammanfattning Idag finns många interaktiva tjänster, till exempel publika webbtjänster. Dessa tjänster väljer användaren själv om han/hon vill använda sig av. Detta betyder att produkten bör vara enkel och behaglig att använda, annars tappar man användare och eventuella kunder. Det finns ett flertal teorier och guidelines för hur man gör en webbplats användbar. I denna rapport har vi valt att behandla de teorier som rör navigering och informationsstruktur och jämför dessa med Blekinge Tekniska Högskolas webbplats.

In today?s larger companies internal auditing is a common concept. For about twenty years ago companies? use of internal auditing took a turn from having been something popular to becoming more notorious. In this thesis we examine what might have caused that turn, We do this by looking at the vision and way of working for about twenty years ago and how the view of the area is today.

För att ta reda på hur väl en Multi-Agent-Systems-bot kan stå sig mot andra, icke-MAS-bottar, så har vi implementerat en bot till brädspelet Arimaa. Botten är implementerad i C++ och den kan spela mot andra bottar, eller människor, genom Arimaas officiella hemsida. Syftet har varit att skapa en fullfjädrad bot som både klarar av att spela korrekt, och att spela bra. För att ta reda på om MAS är en bra designfilosofi för Arimaa så har vi utmanat ett antal av de bottar som andra människor skapat och lagt upp på hemsidan. Alla bottarna har under tiden de legat uppe blivit rankade genom tävlingar och utmaningar och flera av dessa har tävlat om stora pengar, vilket betyder att människor har lagt mycket tid på dem.

The majority of all power cuts that affects individuals and communities are caused by earth faults on the power transmission lines at 10kV and 20kV level [1]. If these power cuts could be eliminated, less disturbances and interrupts would lead to large amounts of money savings.Swedish Neutral has developed such a protection system. When an earth fault occurs power is injected into the neutral point of the transformer. The RCC (Residual Current Compensation) protection calculates a compensation current exactly 180 degrees out of phase to the fault current. Doing this, the voltage at the fault location becomes very close to zero, without affecting the power transmission.The protection system can only compensate automatically for the fundamental frequency (50Hz), and manually for the 3rd, 5th, 7th and 9th harmonics.

NMD 100 is a notes and media dispensing machine, manufactured by De La Rue Ltd, located in Flen, Sweden. The customers, mainly bank offices, have expressed a need for a more comprehensive description of errors occurring from time to time in their machines. In order to acquire a BSc-degree in Computer and Electronics Technology at the University of Linköping I have carried out a diploma work, regarding new computer programs to fulfil the customers? wishes. The machine NMD 100 is connected to its PC through handshaking.

In today?s society we depend on technology to perform the simplest tasks. Whether we are engaging in conversation with a friend or are navigating in traffic, we are likely to be found with some technological device in our hands. This dependence has grown over a period of time, and many of us have failed to reflect on the impact technology has had on our lives. The emergence of so-called One-to-One projects, where teachers and students gain access to a personal laptop, does however provide an excellent opportunity to do so.
