The aim of this thesis is to examine the historical use of "poison cabinets", or restricted shelves, in Swedish libraries. Drawing upon the theories of Mary Douglas and Michel Foucault, it also seeks to sketch a cultural and ideological context of the practice; with the emphasis on social or mental hygiene, and disciplinary aspects. Through qualitative interviews as well as digitalized recordings of librarians active during the first half of the 20th century, actual examples of poison cabinets are presented. A closer examination is conducted of past collections at Lund University Library, and two large public libraries situated in Växjö and Sigtuna. The essay also investigates views on library censorship, controversial literature, and other related subjects reflected in th elibrary press during the period 1916-1979.

Den här uppsatsen undersöker de diskurser som kan formuleras kring hur tatuerade personer talar om sig själva och om tatueringskonsten, utifrån en diskursanalytisk studie av intervjuer i Scandinavian Tattoo Magazine. Uppsatsens teoretiska och metodologiska ramverk är byggt kring Marianne Winther Jørgensens och Louise Phillips diskursteoretiska begreppsbygge, som i sig framförallt grundas i Ernesto Laclaus och Chantal Mouffes diskursanalytiska begrepp. De formulerade diskurserna; sexualitetsdiskursen, ironiseringsdiskursen, möjligheternas diskurs, individualitetsdiskursen och maskulinitetsdiskursen, har diskuterats utifrån begrepp tagna från Mary Douglas (renhet och fara), Slavoj ?i?ek (cynism) samt Peter L. Berger och Thomas Luckmann (typifieringschema och face-to-face-situationen).Uppsatsens analys visade att kvinnor inte bara föredras som representanter för tatuering i tidskriftens intervjuer, utan också att de, till skillnad från männen, sexualiseras kraftigt.

I have chosen to investigate the relationship between Latin American- and African Liberation Theologies. My purpose is to analyze, understand and compare the similarities and differencesbetween the two. The bulk of the study addresses two Liberationists, Gustavo Gutiérrez from Latin America and Jean-Marc Ela from Africa, both of whom are considered by many to be the most important theologians on their continents. This is done with the aim of deepeningthe knowledge of other theologies which have also influenced present day theological thinking.The questions I pose concern Liberation Theology in general, its background and its history. I will journey through Latin American and African church history in order to understand the contexts in which these two theologies have arisen.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att klarlägga varför älgstammen och framförallt andelen tjurar, är på väg nedåt i Sverige. Trots att det finns stor expertis i form av myndigheter, forskare och en engagerad jägarkår har den negativa utveckling inte kunnat stoppas. Enligt Douglas North kan svaret till denna typ av fenomen möjligen ligga i interaktionen mellan formella (SFS 1987:259 och SFS 1987:905) och informella regler (traditionerna). I sådana fall skulle älgstammens nedgång kunna knytas till de traditioner som präglar älgjägarnas jaktmetoder när dessa kommer på kollisionskurs med de formella reglerna. Jag liksom många andra, däribland Fell (2006), hävdar att en annan form av regler, så kallade godtyckliga regler, kan spela en avgörande roll för hur människor agerar i jaktsituationer.

Future climate changes may lead to an interest of alternative and foreign forest tree species in order to spread the risks in forestry. Douglas fir, Sitka spruce, Freemont cottonwood and hybrid aspen are examples of popular foreign tree species that along with western red cedar could have a future in the Swedish forests.Södra Skogsägarna and SLU have collaboration in establishment of foreign species in Swedish forests.The purpose of this study was to analyze and present the establishment of western red cedar, and to survey and illustrate injuries of freeze drying and other damages like deer browsing, vegetation and insect attacks. The study included four different provenances, and spruce as a reference, planted in two locations ? Asa and Släne.Western red cedar is despite its name a conifer of the cupressaceae family with defined secondary characteristic and gets along well with an overstory. Western red cedar grows often in mixed stands with similar conifers and its natural habitat is within and in the area near to British Columbia.The study included two series of field inventories, one made in the summer and one in the autumn 2013, three growing seasons after plantation.

Mia och Klara- karaktären Tabita Karlsson är den ideala White trash-stereotypen. Hon är en deltidisarbetslös ensamstående mamma med tre barn med tre olika män. Med Tabita Karlsson som material presenteras de diskurser vilka utgör White trash-stereotypen med hjälp av diskursanalys enligt Laclau och Mouffe.

Uppsatsen har gjort gällande att det som serveras oss ?på silverfat? är lätt att ta för givet. Det är definitivt enklare än att själv behöva reflektera kring varför detta sker. Dock, i den här uppsatsen har just detta ägt rum. Det har reflekterats kring hur sociala och politiska konstruktioner skapar och upprätthåller omedvetna konsumtionsmönster bland samhällets invånare.

Syfte och frågeställningarSyftet med denna studie är att undersöka om det föreligger en signifikant skillnad i energiutgift vid spelande på den nya generationens spelkonsol, Nintendo Wii (Wii), jämfört med en traditionell spelkonsol, Sony Playstation 2 (PS2). De frågeställningar studien utgick ifrån var;Föreligger det, konsolerna emellan, en skillnad avseende energiutgift vid spelande?Hur skulle en eventuell skillnad i energiutgift kunna påverka en användares kroppsvikt?Vilka andra fysiska aktiviteter kan tv-spelande jämföras med, avseende energiutgift?MetodTestpersonerna, 13 män och 5 kvinnor, testades med avseende på O2-förbrukning samt CO2-produktion på två spel per konsol. Spelen som testades var ?Wii Tennis?, ?Next Generation Tennis? (PS2), ?Wii Boxing? samt ?Knockout Kings 2002? (PS2).

Skogsforskningen i Sverige har alltid strävat efter att öka värdet på skogsmarken, vilket har skett genom växtförädling, markavvattning, gödsling men även genom att introducera utländska trädslag. Pågående klimatförändringar med ökad stormintensitet tillsammans med en ökad koncentration av renodlade granskogar i södra Sverige har bidragit till att blickar har riktats mot alternativa trädslag i skogslandskapet. Douglasgran (Pseudotsuga menziesii [Mirb.] Franco) har funnits i Sverige i över hundra år och har ingått i flera odlings- och proveniensförsök. Resultaten har visat på låg överlevnad under plantstadiet men att stor potential finns om rätt provenienser för det svenska klimatet kan tas fram. Med detta som bakgrund införskaffade Södra Skogsägarna 2007 ett fröparti douglasgran från Nordamerika tillsammans med Skogforsk och SLU, med syfte att genomföra ett storskaligt odlingsförsök. Syftet med denna studie är att utifrån ett svenskt markägarperspektiv undersöka avsättningsmarknaden för douglasgran i Sverige, Danmark och norra Tyskland för att ge underlag för en riskanalys vid övervägande att investera i douglasgran.

The estate of Rydboholm is situated in the municipality of Österåker, north of Stockholm, Sweden, and has a long history dating back to the 14th century. Rydboholm was the home of several families of great national importance, such as the Finsta and Vasa clans. However, since the 1500s, the noble family Brahe was the most influential; leaving its mark on the castle and surroundings. The gardens of Rydboholm consist of two parts; The first is from the baroque era, dating back to the 1660s, and the second is an immense landscape park completed around the year 1800 by Magnus Fredrik Brahe. During his travels through Europe, Magnus Fredrik Brahe was influenced by the new English-style gardens and he brought a large collection of literature on the subject back to Sweden, still kept in the library of Rydboholm.

Product development cycles become shorter and shorter. The time from idea to market has become an important competitive factor. Despite this, methods used for making the product development process faster are surrounded with uncertainty about their efficiency. The purpose of the thesis is to describe the pros and cons of ?best practice? methods for shortening lead times and how these methods effect the lead times in research and development.

The well-being of employees has become a key concept in the rhetoric of the company boards and business literature of today. There is however not much statistic evidence of a connection between economic results and the perceived working climate. This thesis sets out to investigate whether there is a positive correlation between economic results and working climate on a work group level. It also aims to study which specific working climate factors influence the results. In order to meet its purpose this thesis analyzes employee satisfaction questionnaire data and economic results from more than 300 work groups.

In December 2004 an earthquake coursed waves that hit Thailand. Over 5000 people died, and Sweden was the tourist country that has been effected the worst. The catastrophe precipitated Sweden in crises and the demand became high for Swedish government to act. In theory, the management control of maintenance functions is described as problematic due to the nature of the work performed in the unit. The purpose of this thesis is to examine these predicted problems in practice. Further,the thesis aims at identifying how these control problems may affect the relationships between the maintenance department and its internal customers. A case study has been conducted in one of Sweden?s largest industrial companies to investigate the said control problems in practice.

Media has power and impact. It is therefore important for managers to be able to handle media storms when they arise. If not, the brand can be affected negatively. It is managers who should learn to handle media storms because the managers constitute an important part of the external face of the company. Because it is managers who should learn to handle media storms it is interesting to study how media storms should be handled from a theoretical management-perspective.
