Kommunal demokrati och medborgarinflytande i ett samhälle i förändring
The organisation of the municipalities is based on the principle of representation. It has previously been impossible to give the Citizens more influence through direct democracy, but the information technology gives new possibilities and the choice of democracy model might no longer be obvious. Representation can be interpreted in many ways and there is a need for a more distinct definition of the rule that the municipalities shall be governed according to the principle of representation. It should also be further investigated how the new technology can be used to increase the use of direct democracy. The municipalities ought to work to supplement the representation with direct democracy in the form of active discourse with the Citizens.

Med nya ögon mot stormen : Krisberedskap, ansvar och lärande ur ett medborgarperspektiv.
The aim of this essay is, due to a noted lack of earlier research together with an even more accentuated responsibility regarding the matter in question, to study the Citizens? preparedness for crisis. Starting out from a number of questions regarding the Citizens? responsibility andlearning from the hurricanes Gudrun and Per, the discussion concerns the terminology ofcrisis together with the question of responsibility and learning from experience. In conclusion, the source material consisting of nine interviews shows that preparedness for crisis for the affected Citizen above all is related to the personal measures to create a working situation in a state of crisis. Hence, to a great extent, the Citizens show consciousnessof their own responsibility.
Medborgardriven stadsdelsutveckling- Lower Ninth Ward, New Orleans
Through this thesis, we want to discuss how the marginalization of people, several precedent political, city planning- and engineering decisions resulted in a catastrophic outcome after hurricane Katrina in New Orleans 2005. We also put forward a case study of the Make It Right Foundation, to demonstrate how the residents of the Lower Ninth Ward are involved in the urban development of their community. We would like to draw attention to the power of Citizens and how they can influence the urban development of a community after a trauma. This study also focuses on the mission of The Make It Right Foundation: which is to rebuild the Lower Ninth Ward with firm concepts on sustainable development where all dimensions are accounted: ecological, social, cultural and economic.
The empirical data was collected by a field study in New Orleans 2010-03-22 and semistructured interviews were made during the same days..

Medborgaren och språket - En studie av Folkpartiets förslag att införa språktest för att erhålla medborgarskap
AbstractThe aim of this thesis is to analyse a proposition that was made by the Swedish liberal party in the election campaign in 2002. The proposition was part of an integration program and the main point was that to become a Swedish Citizen you should do a test to prove your ability in Swedish. In this paper, I?ve been investigating the way that this proposition was presented and the reactions that it met among the Swedish people. In my work I have noticed that there are some specific arguments that were very powerful and which were the ones that attracted most people.
