ABSTRACTBackground Calprotectin is a protein found in the cytoplasm of neutrophile granulocytes. In the course of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), calprotectin is released during chronic inflammation in the gut. Activation of neutrophils during the inflammation is followed by activation and secretion of pro-inflammatory molecules such as calprotectin. Calprotectin is stable in stool up to 7 days and can therefore be used as a non-invasive marker for diagnosis, treatment and measurement of the disease activity in patients with IBD. The most common method for analysis of calprotectin concentration is ELISA.

Thymidine kinase 1 (TK1) is an intracellular enzyme involved in ?the salvage pathway? where the uncomplete parts of DNA are transformed into DNA precursors. The expression of TK1 is cell cykle specific, with the highest level during S-phase when DNA-synthesis is most active. One kind of TK1 is present in serum and an increase in TK1 activity in serum is due to either the level of DNA synthesis in the body or the number of cells dying in a state of replication. This can be used and is used as a marker for prognosis and evaluation of treatment in human patients with leukemia and lymphoma.

On the basis of theoretical knowledge about the complex of problems which can occur in an implementation of a collaboration project, the purpose of this essay is, to examine how representatives on each authority relate to and manage collaboration as a work method, the awareness of problems within the organisations that collaborate, and the preparedness around how to manage problems with collaboration. "Unga vuxna" is a collaboration project between Kalmar county council and all 12 municipalities in the county council. More specifically it is a cooperation project between psychiatry and social services. Theories used in this essay are professor Berth Danermarks studies about collaboration, and social psychologist Jay Hall?s theory about capability.

Background Calprotectin is a protein expressed in the cytoplasm inside the neutrophile granulocytes. The most commonly used method to detect calprotectin in stool is ELISA, but the process of manual preparation of stool samples is time-consuming.Aim The objective of the study was to evaluate an extraction method that could replace manual preparation of fecal samples and to compare different methods for measuring Calprotectin in stool using two ELISA-methods from two manufacturers and one rapidtest.Methods For extraction of calprotectin from stool samples we used sample collector tubes from Epitope Diagnostics and fecal preparation kits from Roche. Two different ELISA-kits for measuring calprotectin concentration in stool were compared.

Vid bränning ökar ljusinsläppet och även kvävemängden imarken minskar, vilket gynnar de hävdberoende växterna.Detta arbete har undersökt om bränning kan vara ett komplement eller alternativ till beteoch slåtter vid bevarande av den biologiska mångfalden hos växter.

The aim of this study is to analyse how pornography is used in the American comics X-Men, published by Marvel under the authorship of Chris Claremont.I have applied Butler and MacKinnons theories about pornography as a performative speech, to this special art form. I have also investigated how censorship has influenced the comics evolution and whether it has affected the way women and sexual and ethnical minorities are represented. To corroborate how these theories apply, I have analysed three main female fig-ures in The X-Men comics - Storm, Phoenix and Shadowcat - and I have tried to identify how they relate to existing stereotypes.The conclusion of this essay is that the women characters in X-Men break the existing stereo-types and create new implications. This reinforces Butler?s theory about the possibility to re-verse hate speech and diminishes MacKinnons perspective of pornography as an imperative..

The Bovine respiratory syncytial virus (BRSV) causes bronchiolitis and interstitial pneumonia, predominantly in calves, and is a major cause of bovine respiratory disease worldwide. In humans, BRSV is paralleled by the closely related Human respiratory syncytial virus (HRSV), an important cause of respiratory disease, most severe in infants.The clinical signs and pathology during RSV infection is caused, not only by the direct effects of viral replication, but also by the response of the host immune system. The immunopathology of RSV has long obfuscated our understanding of the disease, and development of effective treatment and vaccines will be very difficult until greater knowledge is gained.One of the components of the immune system that has come into focus in RSV research the last few years, is the Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4). The TLR4 receptor is well known as the receptor that binds lipopolysaccaride (LPS), and initiates the host response to bacterial infection. Recently, it has been shown that the fusion protein of RSV also interacts with, and up-regulates the expression of, the TLR4 receptor.

I Sverige och stora delar av Europa har det planterats gran, Picea abies, på marker som tidigare varit lövdominerade. Idag restaureras ädellövskog på dessa marker i ökad omfattning, bland annat för att gynna skogens biologiska mångfald och rekreationsvärden. Syftet med detta arbete var att undersöka överlevnad och tillväxt av ek, Quercus robur, och bok, Fagus sylvatica, som planterats efter gran i Söderåsens nationalpark och i Raslångens ekopark i södra Sverige. I Söderåsens nationalpark undersöktes plantutvecklingen tio år efter plantering på öppna hyggen (ek och bok) eller under björkskärm (bok). För Raslångens ekopark var syftet att undersöka om inversmarkberedning och hägn påverkar initial etablering och överlevnad hos bokplantor på öppna hyggen. Resultaten från Söderåsen visar att ek och bok tio år efter plantering kan nå en hög överlevnad och god tillväxt med hjälp av fungerande hägn och regelbundna röjningar.

Serum thymidine kinase 1 (TK1) activity is used as a tumor marker in disease monitoring in veterinary and human medicine. TK1, an intracellular enzyme, is involved in a salvage pathway of DNA precursor synthesis. TK1 is used in DNA precursor production by catalyzing the transfer of the gamma-phosphate-group from a phosphate-donor to the 5?- hydroxyl-group of thymidine forming thymidine-monophosphate. Nucleoside monophosphosphates are finally converted into thymidine-triphosphates. TK1 activity significantly rises in the G1 and the S phase of the cell cycle.

The purpose of this thesis work is to create a prototype for an augmented reality application that isaimed to support service technician when performing service and maintenance of machines andengines. The prototype will be used for investigating what technical limitations there is and toestablish basic usability for the user interface. The method that is used is user studies and analysis toevaluate use cases and user stories. An iterative work process is then applied for design and theprototype is continuously user tested.The resulting prototype uses a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 running on Android operating system. Theframework used for augmented reality is NyARToolkit which handles marker recognition andconnections to Android.

Idag, när industriernas storhetstid är över i Sverige, har nya områden för utveckling öppnats upp. Det handlar om ytor som förr tillhörde industrin men idag blivit något som kallas ruderatmark. För att spara på värdefull naturmark utanför städernas gränser väljer många städer att idag förtäta på dessa marker. Ruderatmark benämns även som skräpmark som trots namnet är en yta som ofta innehåller unika habitat för flora och fauna och är en speciell stadsbiotop som bidrar till en rik biodiversitet i städerna. Samtidigt är den i många fall förorenad med gifter och ses som ett hot mot människorna i staden. Ruderatmarkerna är dessutom i allra högsta grad en kulturell betingelse.

Denna uppsats har behandlat den säregna svenska bruksrätten som omnämns som renskötselrätt. Renskötselrätten är en rätt som ger vissa personer, en same som är medlem i en sameby, rätt att använda vissa marker för underhåll för sig och sina renar främst genom renbete, jakt, fiske och visst skogsfång. Uppsatsen börjar med en historisk tillbakablick för att förstå hur renskötselrätten utvecklats till dess omfattning i dagens Rennäringslag. Syftet med uppsatsen har varit att redogöra för renskötselrättens omfattning idag och även visa på hur den kan komma att se ut i framtiden. De slutsatser som kunde dras i uppsatsen var att renskötselrätten är mer omfattande än vad Renäringslagen stadgar och ej är beroende av denna lag även om denna skulle försvinna eller ändras i framtiden..
