The aim of this dissertation is the production of a landscape management document to protect and improve elements of biological, cultural and economic value found within the site at Tosthult. The study involves both analysis of the current grazing regime, comparison of today?s flora with flora collected in the fifties and a SWOT analysis of inhabitants? views on Tosthult?s landscape and neighbourhood. The resultant landscape management document applies to an area over 134 ha and is valid for thirty years. The proposal contains 26 separate management units, each with necessary information on the area, definition of management goals and the mix of management procedures to undertake.

This study investigates how performance management in primary schools can facilitate learning, relating to theories of efficient schools. This is done through a qualitative study of the performance management systems in two public primary schools in Sweden. The schools selected were similar in all major aspects, except pupil grades, where there was a clear difference between the schools. The analysis revealed differences in how the schools handled the process of management by objectives, the professional development of teachers as well as routines, rules, and policies. We conclude that having a rooted process for management by objectives, professional development of teachers, and clearly formalized values, gives a school a good foundation to support a pupil's learning and development..

This thesis is about university spin-offs and the competition in high technology industries. In the light of efforts to increase the competitiveness of the European Union, an effective transfer of cutting edge technology from universities to the industry plays an important role. University spin-offs, start-ups founded to exploit academic inventions, are likely to face considerable market entry barriers. This is among other reasons due to high capital requirements for further technology development and lack of complementary resources. With a combination of relevant literature and empirical investigation, commercialisation of technologies within spin-offs is investigated and analysed.

The purpose of this thesis is to examine how the Management Control System is affected by a change in the owner structure from family owned to not-family owned. The study also tries to identify explaining factors behind the possible effects to the Management Control System. The study is based on a comprehensive case study on the company Alcro-Beckers which, in year 2001, was acquired from the owner Lindéngruppen fully owned by Ulf G Lindén. The acquirer was the non-family owned company Kemira OY, a Finnish stock listed group. The empirical foundation mainly comes from interviews conducted with people who were/are directly connected to the company, either as employees or as representatives for the owner.

Examensarbetets frågeställning berör användarnas medverkan i Requirements Engineering (RE). Under RE-fasen skall samtliga krav på det kommande systemet tas fram från intressenterna. En viktig intressentgrupp i kravutvinningsarbetet är de kommande användarna av systemet. Resultatet av RE-fasen är en viktig faktor som påverkar hela den fortsatta utvecklingsprocessen samt hur lyckat det slutliga systemet blir.Detta examensarbete innebär en undersökning av vad användarrepresentanterna anser om use case-modelleringen i RE-processen. Undersökningen har påvisat att användarrepresentanterna är positiva till use case-modellering som arbetsmetod för att kartlägga kraven.

This qualitative case study, made with four companies, looks closer at how more effective information management, with the help of IT-systems, affect companies market communication and relations to customers and suppliers. Uppsatsens syfte är att försöka förstå, utifrån existerande teorier och med hjälp av insamlad empiri, vilka parametrar i ett kundperspektiv som är av betydelse vid utvecklingen av en prissättningsförmåga bland business-to-business-företag.Vi har använt oss av en kvalitativ metod vars ansats är av abduktiv karaktär. Den empiriska datan har samlats in genom semi-strukturerade intervjuer vilka har genomförts via personliga möten samt via telefon. Då vi betraktar prissättning som en förmåga, vilken återfinns inom företaget, så utgår det teoretiska ramverket främst från det resursbaserade synsättet vilket styrks av en akademisk artikel som beskriver och förklarar bakgrunden till att prissättning kan ses som en förmåga. Därutöver beskriver vi den vanligaste prissättningsstrategin företag emellan; cost/plus-strategin. Vi argumenterar för att företag bör införa rutiner och skapa en entydig struktur, med särskild fokus på tre områden, för att försäkra kunden om att de erbjuder produkter med kundvärde.

This paper aims to outline leaders' experiences of managing consultants from their company's performance management system. The study was conducted by qualitative interviews with senior managers and HR professionals within a management consulting firm. The aim was to describe the company's performance management system, their consultants and the challenges of leading in this context. The theoretical framework consists of previous research in leadership, performance management and management consulting. Within these research areas the authors identify a knowledge gap in leaders' perspectives on managing top-talents with performance management systems in the management consulting industry.

Purpose: The purpose is to present a greater understanding of the progression of innovation capital in a technology transfer and biotech start-up context. The findings offer technology transfer professionals, entrepreneurs and academia an overall perception and mental framework of the technology transfer practice and the embracement of a promising invention, building upon its hidden value. Methodology: The thesis was conducted using a qualitative case study, executed with the help of interviews, in order to answer the research question: How is an embryo of innovation capital continuously cultivated in a technology transfer and biomedical start-up process? Conclusions: A technology transfer entity provides the means to establish a platform where an entrepreneur can build its own human capital, structural capital, and relationship capital. The forms of capital interact and thus create value, herein considered as innovation capital.

The purpose with our study is to investigate in which way a public field of action has succeeded to make the economic management more effective and also find out which factors/activities that have contributed to get the result of the budget in balance. We also want to find out in which degree the balanced scorecard (BSC) has contributed to the positive result of the budget. Method: We had started out from the qualitative method theory which is based on the hermeneutic theory, because we will interpret and understand. With this starting point we have chosen to use a case study with semi-standardised interviews supplemented with information from different documents, and to get the theoretic connection we have studied literature in the subject field.
