The Smart Grid technology has during the last decade been established as a way to create a greater flexibility on the electricity grid that will be needed as the development moves towards an increased share of renewable primary energy sources in the electricity production. One part of the Smart Grid technology is the ability to shift loads in time, to adapt to either price or emissions, known as Demand Response. This project, which was conducted at KTH in collaboration with the consulting corporation Capgemini, examines the economic, environmental and social aspects of the Demand Response technology. In the project, three household products are used in a model that derives the potential savings in costs and emissions of CO2e. The results show that the actual savings measured in SEK are small, but that the savings measured in percent can be as high as 20 percent. Reduction of CO2e emissions is slightly lower.
Miljöbilspremien - Diskussioner och ställningstaganden gällande miljöbilspremien
Vi valde att undersöka varför miljöbilspremien infördes, vilka nackdelar respektive fördelar den har, om målen med införandet uppnåtts samt varför den ska slopas i förtid. Förutom detta undersökte vi vilka åtgärder som ska vidtas istället för miljöbilspremien. Därtill försökte vi få svar på vilka insatser som staten har planerat att genomföra för att uppnå de nationella målen gällande koldioxidutsläppsminskningen. Fallstudien baseras på sex intervjuer av personer från både statliga myndigheter och intresseorganisationer: Naturvårdsverket, Naturskyddsföreningen, Gröna Bilister, Motormännen, Miljödepartementet samt Transportstyrelsen. Utifrån vår studie kom vi fram till att miljöbilspremien infördes för att stimulera användningen av bränsle effektiva bilar, miljöbilar, och öka andelen miljöbilar i nybilsförsäljningen.

AbstractMotor sports have been around as long as motor vehicles have been. Sports are often seen as costly polluter but in the same time the motor sports have encourages a large part of development, both for vehicles and other industries. Inventions like rear mirror and ABS brakes come from motor sports. One way to once again drive development forward while making motor sports carbon-neutral is to run the race CARS on hydrogen. In this thesis, the goal is to convert a spark ignition engine for hydrogen operation.

Klimat & Patriarkat : Genusgeografi i Huddinge
The essay deals with gender aspects on climate change adaption. The aspects consist of the fact that women in Sweden drive CARS less than men, and that women in the developing world are more affected by natural disasters arising from global warming. This study was carried out in the municipality of Huddinge, a suburb to Stockholm, by interviewing one Agenda 21 coordinator, one planner and one student in genderstudies. I also attended a meeting in the Committee for built environment in the Huddinge Municipality, to ask the politicians questions and observe gender structures during the meeting. The results also consist of a search for gender-related words in the documents used in the essay.The results are analysed using ecofeminsim, a theory that connects woman subordination and environmental destruction.

Konstruktion av sök/räddningsrobot
Volvo Human Monitoring (VHM) is an ongoing project at Volvo CARS where they measure, amongst other parameters, inhalation and exhalation through a device called Respiratory Inductance Plethysmograph (RIP), on drivers. RIP measures changes in the cross-sectional area of the chest and abdomen. When the driver is in motion, such as when she is turning the vehicle, the cross-sectional area changes and noise in the RIP signal may arise.The noise results in a large number of manual adjustments in the analysis of the RIP signal, which is very time consuming and the validity of the device for measuring inhalation and exhalation is questioned.The purpose of this study was to improve the efficiency of the analysis of the RIP signal. The goal was to create a new data processing tool in Matlab that automatically detects inhalation and exhalation from a RIP signal with higher validity compared to the previous data processing tool.In this study, nine tests were performed on drivers while they were driving in different scenarios such as highway, country road and in city traffic. Inhalation and exhalation was measured using a RIP, a pneumotachograph with a tightly sealed facemask and a thermocouple placed between the nose and mouth, which was used as reference to the RIP.The result of this study was a data processing tool that automatically detects inhalation and exhalation with higher validity compared to the previous data processing tool.

Transportoptimeringar med hjälp av flödesanalyser
Detta examensarbete utgör resultatet av en studie på uppdrag av Volvo CARS Torslanda (VCT) i Göteborg. Syftet med studien har varit att undersöka produktflödena mellan VCT och dess leverantörer med hjälp av analyser. Dessutom utreds hur transporterna skulle kunna optimeras och vilka konsekvenser som uppstår. Beräkningar, diskussioner och analyser resulterar i rekommendationer för företaget.För att få mer kunskap om transportlogistik, produktionsekonomi och miljöpåverkan av transporter genomförs först en litteraturstudie. En granskning av nuläget beskriver hur situationen ser ut i dagsläget och ger även en detaljerad bild av flödena från leverantörer till VCT.Sex stycken flöden vars gods transporteras från leverantörer till VCT har undersökts.
YTKARAKTERISERING AV CYLINDERFODER I FÖRBRÄNNINGSMOTORER
Vid konstruktion och tillverkning av motorer idag finns flera krav att tillgodose i form av lång livslängd, låga utsläpp samt liten bränsleförbrukning. Dieselmotorn har högre verkningsgrad än bensinmotorn men problemet med dieselmotorn är i form av utsläpp där lagstiftningen blir allt strängare. En del av utsläppen från dieselmotorn kan bero på smörjoljan och olika motorer och ytor uppvisar olika mängd oljeförbrukning. Denna kan även variera mellan samma modell av motor. Ett sätt att få ner oljeförbrukningen och variationen av denna är att mäta ytan och säkerställa att denna är optimal för dess funktion.

The aim of this study is also to examine if there are any differences in the work experiences for traffic wardens that work alone versus those who work in a team of two. The following questions are examined in the study:?Which factors promote and which factors inhibit the work situation for traffic wardens??Are there any differences between traffic wardens that work alone and those who work with another colleague?The selection consisted of eight traffic wardens, of which four of them work with another colleague while the other four work by themselves.
