The subject of this master level thesis in historical osteology, is a study of waste management in the medieval town of Lund. The aims of the study is achieved through looking at the taphonomic aspects of bonefragments from the quarter Blekhagen. The study is divided in two separate sections, one that is a litterature study of what is known about waste management, and another one that contains a taphonomic and spatial analysis. Through examination of the taphonomic variables weathering, average weight and trampling and a spatial analysis, I am able to deduce that there are signs of controlled waste management in the material. It is not possible to draw any general conclusions about waste management in the medieval town however.

The aim of this master thesis is to show how the dissemination of scientific information took place and developed during the 19th century. The main focus is Lund University. Therefore I have formulated two questions: How did the five heads of the history department at Lund University publish their research findings in the 19th century? What factors in society influenced the scientific spreading of results in the 19th century? To assess the scientific reliability of the sources I have used a method based on source criticism and hermeneutics. The thesis covers important concepts such as the exchange of publications between the universities, commercium litterarium and Akademischer Tauschverein and also the development of Lund University yearbook.

This thesis analyses the problem of how to organise a multidisciplinary domain of knowledge like architecture. The study is both theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part include discussions of theories of knowledge organisation. Two different principles of classification were examined in relation to the domain itself, as well as in relation to the educational programme at the School of Architecture at Lund University and comparable schools in Sweden. The empirical part is a case study carried out at the School of Architecture at Lund University.

Det här arbetet är en empirisk undersökning av Erasmus studenter i Lund under läsåret 2006/2007. Arbetet fokuserar på identitetsförändringen av Erasmus studenterna under tiden i Lund. Undersökningen baserar på George Herbert Meads, Peter Bergers och Thomas Luckmanns teorier om identitetsutvecklingen.Det empiriska materialet baserar på tre intervjuer, email och materialen ur "gruppen" jag lade opp i nätforumen Studiverzeichnis och Facebook. Frågorna riktade sig omkring följande teman: språk, boendesituation och festförhållande. Sammanlagt deltog tjugosex Erasmus studenter i min undersökning varav tjugoett var tysktalande.Undersökningen visade att tiden under Erasmus inte uppfattas som en äkta värld utan att den förmedlar bilden av en fiktiv värld och att de känns som om man befinner sig på en skolresa.

Detta är ett kandidatarbete i trädgårdsdesign. Arbetet är ett gestaltningsförslag av en askgravplats på Norra kyrkogården i Lund. Syftet med examensarbetet är att göra en gestaltning som samspelar med omgivningens gröna kulturarv för att möta det framtida behovet av fler askgravplatser. Utgångspunkten i examensarbetet är ett uppdrag från Kyrkogårdsförvaltningen i Lund. Uppdraget går ut på att göra ett gestaltningsförslag för Kvarter 22 på Norra kyrkogården.

The purpose of this paper is to clarify and understand the difference between Brunius?, Zettervall's and Graebe's valueing of a historical building, the cathedral of Lund. Between 1833 and 1963 the cathedral of Lund went through three larger restorations. The character of the restorations however differs a lot between the three church architects, Brunius, Zettervall and Graebe. In a time of low interest for the Middle Ages and of many demolitions of churches in the countryside, Brunius stood out as a researcher and an enthusiast of that special time.

Sedan 2002 har kommuner runt om i landet infört medborgarförslag med syfte att öka delaktigheten och dialogen mellan medborgarna och kommunen. Detta är ett projekt som prövar att införa deltagardemokratiska inslag inom ramen för den representativa demokratin.Uppsatsen bygger på en jämförelse vi gjort mellan Lund och Kristianstad kommun med avseende på hur väl dessa lyckats med införandet av medborgarförslag och vad som detta resulterat i. Materialet som vi använt oss av är framförallt de medborgarförslag som inkommit till de båda kommunerna men även intervjuer och relaterad litteratur. Vår slutsats är att det i båda kommunerna finns ett grundläggande problem när det gäller sammansättningen av de som deltar men även att kommunerna lyckats olika väl när det gäller uppslutningen och informationen kring medborgarförslag..

Digital långtidslagring är problematisk på grund av att digitala medier har relativt kort fysisk livslängd och ännu kortare teknisk livslängd. Denna uppsats handlar om hur ett antal arkiv i Lund hanterar denna problematik. Syftet med uppsatsen är att ge insyn i hur arkiv i praxis ställer sig till, och hanterar långsiktig digital bevaring. Vårt mål är att uppsatsen skall bidra med både information om praktisk användning av hanteringsstrategier för långsiktig digital bevaring, samt bidra med en bild om hur situationen ser ut för dem undersökta arkiven. Uppsatsen grundas på en kvalitativ undersökning av arkiven där semistrukturerade intervjuer används för att skapa en bild av arkivens situation när det gäller digital långtidslagring samt hur de hanterar problematiken.

The aim of the study was to examine how the public libraries participate in the integration of immigrants in the Malmö-/Lund region. Librarians and immigrants were interviewed about the services offered by the libraries in the area of multiculturalism and what kind of service that is requested by the immigrants. The interviews also included possibilities to contribute to increased knowledge among the native Swedish people about different cultures represented among immigrants in Sweden. From the qualitative analyses it is concluded that the libraries represented in the study contribute to the integration of immigrants. The respondents gave multiple examples of the libraries? usefulness in the integration process by offering immigrants possibilities to develop their knowledge in the Swedish language, and also to find information about the Swedish society and culture.

Syftet är att beskriva och analysera utformningen och tillämpningen av Balanced Scorecard i en sjukvårdsverksamhet samt studera huruvida modellen används som ett mätsystem eller ett managementsystem. Metoden som ligger till grund för denna uppsats är kvalitativ i form av en djupare fallstudie av en sjukvårdsverksamhet. Vi har utgått från såväl sekundärdata som primärdata för att erhålla relevant information till uppsatsen. Primärdata har samlats in via personliga intervjuer. Det teoretiska kapitlet innehåller modeller och begrepp som behandlar budget, BSC, ekonomistyrning i offentlig verksamhet och i sjukvården.

Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is an anxiety disorder resulting from exposure to a traumatic event. The purpose of this study was to examine the exposure to Potentially Traumatic Events (PTE) and the prevalence of PTSD among students at the University of Lund. Sexdifferences among these variables were also examined. Using surveys as research method, 380 students from five different faculties participated. The results indicated that these students have been more exposed to PTE than the general Swedish population.

Internet has made information more easy to get, but also more difficult to retrieve. There is a need for information retrieval systems that assure accurate, reliable and up to date information. Quite a number of both commercial and non commercial search services has been developed on the Internet. We have made a qualitative study of one for-pay product in particular, NetS k, produced by BTJ (Bibliotekstj nst), Lund. It is a database that contains collected, evaluated and classified links, and is especially developed to suit public librarians in Sweden.

This paper aims to apply a specific architectural theory onto Lund City Library in order to achieve a better understanding of how the physical concept of the library is affecting our knowledge and our production of meaning; and furthermore how it suggests a certain form of usage. This paper discusses the ways in which architecture is affecting us when we use the library. The paper attempts to answer the following question: ? Which one of Koch?s spatial structures could apply to Lund City Library, and in which ways could this spatial structure be a producer of meaning? The specific architectonical theory used is developed by Daniel Koch in his paper Spatial Systems as Producers of Meaning: the Idea of Knowledge in Three Public Libraries. This theory is the method of the paper as well.

The Swedish healthcare system is characterized by lack of resources and extensive hospital queues. In order to counter these difficulties the Lund University Hospital have introduced Lean Healthcare to the hospital organization. The purpose of this scientific paper is to study the relationship between the implementation of Lean Healthcare and the experienced motivation among the staff. This essay thereby intends to impart knowledge, which could be used on future implementations of Lean Healthcare at other hospitals. In order to fulfil the purpose of this essay a case study have been conducted at two wards at the Lund University Hospital in which qualitative research interviews have been the method chosen in order to gather data.

This thesis is based on the conception that class is relevant. The thesis discussesclass relevance and consciousness of class amongst personal at the department ofsocial welfare in Lund.I have studied different theories of class from Karl Marx, Max Weber and PierreBourdieu. The study´s empirical survey is based on interviews with the personalat the department of social welfare in Lund. Then I have applied their view onclass on models based on the theories mentioned above.Out of my analysis I can draw the conclusion that the consciousness of class ishigh and that the applied models matches the interviewed personal. An importantaspect is that class perspective is bound to class.
