The aim of this Masters thesis is to investigate how trained social workers experience information in their daily work. The thesis focussed on three major questions: - What type of information and information sources are mostly used by the trained social workers? - What kind of information barriers are described by the participants? - How can the patterns of information seeking and information use be understood on the basis of the trained social workers professional and social context? Semi-structured interviews were carried out with trained social workers working with child welfare enquiries. My theoretical framework consists of user and context oriented theories about classifications of information, information barriers and models of information sources. My conclusions are that trained social workers working with risk assessment in child protection services, need to use different kinds of information in their daily work, such as problem information, domain information and problem-solving information.

This report explains how different communication tools can be used in a company?s intranet. It gives a short description of the different parts in an intranet and their field of application, and what communication means. It?s only the communication tools that the company uses that we are illuminating in this report.

The purpose of this Master thesis is to examine theinformation use and information seeking behaviour amongpersons who actively work with information. For this study,interviews have been conducted with a group of six personswho work with information in information intensiveorganizations. The aim is to answer the following questions:What kind of information is connected to the respondents?work tasks? What is the purpose of their search forinformation? Which information sources do they use and whatkind of information sources do they demand? The theoreticalframework consists mainly of Wilsons information needs andinformation seeking model.The results of this study show that none of the respondentshad any strategic model for their work with information. Theinformation that the respondents were searching for is ofdifferent content and depends on the organization in which therespondent operates.

The aim of the paper is to examine how public libraries can develop their services for children with ethnic minority backgrounds as a user group. This is achieved through studying the conditions for library services provided for children aged 9-12 in this group by public libraries in suburbs densely populated with ethnic minorities. The paper uses both a literature review and empirical research on the community libraries in Rinkeby and Rosengård as well as the town library in Lund. Services potentially available to these groups are analysed and discussed in the later chapters. The overall conclusion is that those services provided for ethnic minority children are largely the same as those provided for in children library services in general.

Uppsatsen syftar till att ta reda på hur Katedralskolan i Lund tacklar den allt tuffare konkur-rensen som uppstått mellan skolor sedan vi i Sverige har gjort att det egna valet av gymnasie-skola fått större fokus. Eftersom det numer är ett val som ska göras måste skolorna visa att de finns som alternativ. Detta gör att de måste synas och det ställer krav på att skolan marknads-för sig på ett eller annat sätt. Jag undrar också hur skolan har finansierat dessa satsningar. Vad kan man prioritera ned för att få råd till marknadsföring? I Lund har kommunen beslutat att introducera en gymnasiemässa som har i syfte att visa de kommande eleverna vilka alternativ som finns och därmed underlätta för dessa elever att skapa sig en uppfattning om vilket val de ska göra. Genom att intervjua ett antal personer på skolan har jag velat få fram en bild av hur lärare och skolledning ställer sig till konkurrenssituationen.

I dagsläget växer behovet av rätt information vid rätt plats, kontextbaserad information. Med hjälp av iBeacon kan man till en stor utsträckning förse det här behovet med en lösning. I uppsatsen undersöks användningsområden för iBeacon och idéer för hur man kan utveckla lösningar med hjälp av iBeacon. Ett koncept kommer att implementeras för att distribuera kontextbaserad information på mässor. Konceptet utvecklades till iOS och Android.

This thesis deals with the information-seeking behaviour of occupational therapists. Focus was on three different aspects of information-seeking behaviour. The purpose was to investigate how occupational therapists conceive of work-related information needs, their choice and use of formal and informal information sources and their use of the hospital library. Twelve interviews with occupational therapists were conducted at a rehabilitation clinic in a hospital. The theoretical frame consists of a general model of the information-seeking of professionals by Leckie, Pettigrew and Sylvain.

The aim of this masters thesis was to study how the members of a small non-profit organisation perceived the web forum, compared to the other information channels of the organisation. The organisation was defined as a virtual community. A literature review was conducted. The theory construction was based on the sensemaking theory. Interview questions were constructed based on the literature review and the sensemaking theory.

I Skåne pågår i dagsläget planeringsarbetet för spårvagn i de tre största städerna; Malmö, Lund och Helsingborg. Hur kommer det sig att samtliga Skånes tre största städer med så pass olika förutsättningar och storlek planerar för spårväg samtidigt? Är det ett resultat av ett ökat resande eller finns det andra, mer visionära faktorer som styr? Arbetet syftar till att undersöka och jämföra tre städers val av spårväg utifrån de undersökta städernas visioner och morfologiska förutsättningar. Vilka är de avgörande faktorerna i valet av kollektivtrafik, hur motiveras valet och vilka effekter förväntas ett sådant val ge staden? Den övergripande frågeställningen är; hur motiverar de studerade kommunerna att planera för spårväg? Tre fallstudier har genomförts i studien för att möjliggöra jämförelser mellan fallen.

Humans have always been fascinated by the thought of bringing non living objects to life. We wanted to explore the possibilities of trying to create an artefact that the audience would consider possess emotional states and have a life of its own. TaS is a interactive chair that functions as a social entity. The idea is to try and enhance the bond between human and artefact, based upon the emotional connection. We try and produce, enhance and maintain this bond through curiosity based interaction. This thesis deals with information practices of first time parents. The term information practice covers topics ranging from the information a parent need and use, the information they actively seek for through to information attained through browsing, monitoring or simply being aware. Four problem areas have been formulated. What information do first time parents need? How do they get hold of information and how do they use it? What factors decide what sources they use? How do the first time parents validate the information they get? The following theoretical framework have been used; Marcia J Bates? model of information practice and Reijo Savolainen?s Mastery of Life theory.

Vårt syfte med denna uppsats är att analysera om och i så fall hur och varför kända profiler påverkar konsumenters uppfattning av ett varumärke. Vi har i vår studie använt oss av Lindex som fallföretag och deras användning av kända personer i sin marknadsföring. Vid val av tillvägagångssätt har vi utgått ifrån en abduktiv ansats, där våra primärdata baseras på en kvalitativ undersökning genom semistrukturerade intervjuer. Dessa intervjuer har ägt rum på öppen gata i Malmö samt på ekonomihögskolan i Lund. Som inledning av vår teoretiska referensram har vi använt oss av modellen om varumärkesmedvetenhet.

This masters thesis aims to investigate how upper secondary school pupils experience their information seeking in a school context without access to a school library. It is the pupils own thoughts and opinions about information seeking and criticism of the sources that is the main focus. The literature that has been used consists of material from research concerning youth and different aspects of information seeking such as the information seeking process, information seeking on the web, criticism of the sources and how pupils interact with other people in order to acquire information. The method that has been used is group interviews. Twelve pupils from an independent school without access to a school library have been interviewed in groups of three.

Barns fysiska uppväxtmiljö har genom förskolan homogeniserats. Nästan 90% av alla 1-5åringar vistas i förskola merparten av sin vakna tid. Därför är det angeläget att kritiskt granska vad denna miljö erbjuder barn. Uppsatsen fokuserar på växtmaterialet barn klättrar i på förskolor. Studien omfattar växtmaterial med klätterslitage på 65 förskolor i Lund. I studien har en metod att värdera växtmaterial efter barns klätterslitage uppfunnits och implementerats. Resultatet av studien har konkretiserats i en sammanställning av användbara arter.

The purpose of this master thesis is to examine the opinion about school libraries among principals at the independent schools in the municipality of Lund. In order to fulfil my purpose I used a qualitative method with an introductory questionnaire, which gave background material to the interviews. All seven principals answered the questionnaire and five of them agreed to participate in an interview. Another two interviews were made with two informants, this material was included in the background material.
