This is a final thesis on the landscape architecture program at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. It is the end of five years of studies and comprises 30 ECTS. This thesis is about the camp area Sjöröd, located by Gyllebosjön (the Gyllebo Lake) on Österlen in Skåne, southern Sweden. The thesis results in plan for how the area could be used in the future. It also raises the questions; what scouting of today is, how it is to be developed for the future, what a camp is and which aims the scout movement has set up for itself and its activities. The thesis also treats what is typical for Skåne, for Österlen and for the area around Sjöröd as a starting point.

The Circle is a strong form that influences the landscape. It also has symbolic value which influences our feelings and experiences. This Thesis project examines the Circles? characteristics and its significance in various connections. The goal of this Thesis is to examine what role the Circle plays in various situations and what motives there are for using it is landscape architecture. The basis for this Thesis work is a proposal which has been drawn up for development of the rural area between the villages of Hofterup and Löddeköping in the municipality of Kävlinge.

This report presents suggestions and recommendations on how to convert an old industrial building, built in 1958, to an office hotel. One of the main criteria was that the floor plan should be flexible. The building is situated at Jonsereds Fabriker and the study was conducted for Hantverkslokaler i Göteborg AB, the estate owner.The survey is initiated with study visits at various office hotels, together with studies of literature regarding office planning. One conclusion from the study visits is that meeting-places, where the different companies can meet and exchange ideas and services, are important. Another one, and probably the most important parameter when planning offices is that they should have windows.

The main purpose with this thesis has been to study the design philosophy of Bruno Mathsson, how he worked with his houses and the landscape surrounding them and which kind of inspiration sources he had. My work started when I during the autumn 2004 got involved in an existing project related to one of his glass houses. The glass house is situated in Kosta and has during the last fifteen years suffered from so much vandalism and decay that it has become a problem for the municipality of Lessebo. The intentions are to restore the house and to transform it to a center for Swedish design, also containing a store and a café as well as hosting one apartment for scholarship students. My task in this project was to form and develop the outdoor environment in connection to the house.

Rapid urbanisation is putting strains on both the landscape and the city dwellers and the pressure on planning for sustainable and equitable cities is crucial. As many cities in Sub-Saharan Africa are expanding, city planning has trouble keeping up to meet the needs of the growing amount of urban dwellers. Many cities have also been planned with the cars in focus and the needs and comfort of the pedestrians have been overlooked. The capacity of institutions is limited due to centralized government and bureaucracy, as well as corruption. Planning is erratically implemented and it is difficult to know what will happen.

Safe in the cityscape? Gender aspects on spatial city planning In this thesis, theories regarding gender and spatial planning are applied to the comprehensive plan Fortuna och Hemgården in eastern Malmö. Independent of factors like class, ethnicity and age women experience lack of safety to a larger extent than men do. Today, safety aspects on housing projects is scarcely a controversial issue, quite the contrary. However seldom are the central terms such as safety and security defined. Research has shown that women feel safe when they experience little risk of being subjected to violence; security is deeply interconnected with feeling safe.

?För ett automatiserat återskapande av inbyggda systems funktionella arkitektur från källkod ochprodukt data?Den ökade komplexiteten i inbyggda system inom fordonsindustrin tillsammans med de striktaresäkerhetsrestriktionerna som infördes av ISO26262 standarden, kräver bättre kunskap ochkännedom om produktarkitekturen. Men, för befintliga produkter som inte var utvecklade enligt enväldefinierad arkitekturmodell, så måste en modell återhämtas.Syftet med detta examensarbete är att automatisera återhämtningen av funktionella arkitekturenför fordons inbyggda system, vilket är ett krav för många av ISO26262 aktiviteter. Dettaexamensarbete föreslår och beskriver två modeller för det inbyggda systemet i ett fordon, och visardess användning för att bland annat generera användarvänliga vyer. Återhämtningen av modellernasker genom att tolka den inbyggda C-koden och bearbeta fordonets data såsom inblandadestyrenheter, deras adresser och CAN buss detaljerna.Två modeller har föreslagits för att fånga den återskapade informationen om inbyggda systemet iett fordon: en produktmodell för inbyggda system och en mjukvaruarkitektur modell för deninbyggda mjukvaran.

Utgångspunkten för detta arbete är ett område i det trafikseparerade grönområdet Storkärnan som ligger mitt i samhället Löddeköpinge, Skåne län. Platsen känns tom och variationslös och består till stora delar av öppna gräsytor. Runtomkring finns villabebyggelse som till övervägande del uppförts under miljonprogrammet. Alldeles i närheten finns en mycket stor kulle och ett nybyggt seniorboende. Tre stora men lågt och mjukt utformade kullar har även anlagts under senare år. Den stora kullen används som pulkabacke vintertid och har en brant och konvex form åt den aktuella platsen.

This paper is about the facades and the streets impact on theexperience of the city and how architects can create cities forthe human kind with simple tools that makes a hugh difference forthe experience of urban space.As the cities are growing in a faster rate and as more people moveto the cities, they will also affect more people. The differentstructures that can be found in the cities therefore gets moreimportant and giving design to city structures also gets morecomplex because of our higher demands on urban functions andcontent. It?s difficult to evaluate the ultimate city structuresince all people experience their city in different ways, butarchitects still should be able to create urban spaces thatis suited for the human kind, just as we can create differentbiotopes for flora and fauna. Therefore there must be generalideas of what the human being experience as good or bad and theseshould be guidelines when designing urban space.Since urban space is something that most people experience everyday it doesn´t always have a clear impact on them.

This work is about getting to know tufting as a technique and to design tufted products for home furnishing.It all began in Finland, where during springtime 2004, I got in contact with the technique oftufting for the first time. A very pleasant meeting that resulted in two carpets and a longing to continueand learn more. It was then that an idea for my final project started to take form. My wish was to designtufted ?floor jewelleries? and cushions.I made a base for my project during a design project in autumn 2004.

This diploma work, with the title Represent and Consume the Land ?I drove following the picture of a spruce through Sweden, is presented as a film and an essay and the aim is to explore the perception of an individual with the film as the medium. To reach this, it is necessary to destabilize my own reality, to explore myself at the same time as I study landscapes and representations of landscapes. The diploma work focus on representations of landscapes of Sweden, external pictures and internal images. The picture is a very strong medium that holds and comunicate myths, about the landscape and about the nation.

Miljo och energi ar tva faktorer som blir allt viktigare, och energisnala hus har nufunnits en tid pa marknaden. Att ta lagenergihus ett steg langre, och goraplusenergihus som levererar mer energi an vad den gor av med, ar inte lika valtestat i Sverige annu. Da tjockleken pa vaggarna blir storre ar det ocksa viktigareatt hitta tekniker som minskar koldbryggor vid anslutningar.For att forsta hur man pa basta satt ska utforma och konstruera dessa husbehovs kunskap om material, koldbryggor, byggnadsdetaljer, klimat ochuppvarmningssystem. Bland annat har en analys av vilka olika varmesystem sompassar bra for ett lag-/plusenergihus gjorts i denna examensrapport, med stod avreferensobjekt. For att huset i framtiden ska kunna utnyttjas som ett plusenergihusbehovs ett system som har kapacitet att lagra energi under en kortare tid.

It may seem obvious that the urban space in our northern cities should be design to function and inspire throughout the whole year. This is not always the case. The urban space is often designed on a summer basis and the winter is regarded more as a problem then a resource and its potential remain unused. I have in this master thesis studied the impact of the winter on people and spaces and ponder on how to design functional and attractive places for winter. The project ends in a design concept for Broparken in Umeå on the theme "everyday winter day". The work with this thesis has given me, as a landscape architect, valuable experiences and filled a gap of knowledge that I had in this subject. I hope that this thesis can inspire Umeå kommun and others who are interested in how northern cities can benefit by its climate and develop towards a more complete city. The thesis begins with a chapter that present the subject from four different perspectives.
