Denna uppsats utreder samspelet mellan politisk kultur och politisk ekonomi i Jordaniens politiska liberaliseringsprocess genom en litteraturstudie förankrad i kulturspecifik forskning. Det teoretiska huvudsyftet är att pröva Michael Ross teori om förhållandet mellan beskattning relativt offentlig service och politisk liberalisering, på en djupare nivå. Högre beskattning relativt offentlig service antas ge representation, politisk liberalisering och demokratisering. Vi kartlägger vilka kringliggande faktorer denna ekonomiska cost-benefit-modell fungerar tillsammans med.Vår slutsats är att den ekonomiska cost-benefit-modellen samspelar med en kulturell cost-benefit-modell. I Jordanien tillfredställde inte regimen befolkningens krav på subvention av exempelvis bränsle och basmatvaror.

Sarah Kane?s first play Blasted (1995) has often been read in a normative and biographical way by critics, authors and previous researchers. This essay makes a supplementary close reading of Blasted from gender and genealogical perspectives and utilizes theoretical works by Judith Butler, Luce Irigaray and Michel Foucault. My study makes clear that the characters different positions in language and talk create and maintain a power imbalance between them. Efforts to change and develop one?s individual position in language and talk are being made throughout the play since it is the only way to bring about a change in the social power structure.

Den här uppsatsen ska undersöka hur tre perioder av kvinnorörelser i Sveriges historia avspeglas i framställningen av kvinnor i Veckorevyn. Syftet är att undersöka ifall framställningen av kvinnor förändras i förhållande till dessa tre perioder. Detta har gjorts med en kvantitativ innehållsanalys där ett kodschema använts. Det har också gjorts en kvalitativ innehållsanalys med kritisk diskursanalys och semiotisk analys av två nummer under respektive period. Teorier om veckopressens påverkan på läsaren har använts.

Människan har i alla tider jämfört sig själv med andra, och det kan ses som en naturlig sak att jämförelser även sker på de arbetsplatser vi jobbar på. Xerox såg under 70-talet möjligheter att jämföra sig mot sina konkurrenter för att finna de bästa tillvägagångsätten, vilket gick under benämningen Benchmarking. Verktyget har även på senare tid fått inflytande inom den kommunala sektorn då högre krav ställs på att vara effektivare, samt införande av nya lagar som exempelvis Lagen om Valfrihetssystem (LOV) vilket öppnar upp för konkurrens från privata verksamheter. Det intressanta med benchmarking är att, trots den ökade populariteten och den stora mängd forskning som har gjorts kring fenomenet, finns det idag en fragmenterad bild över benchmarkingens delar.Syftet med studien har varit att analysera hur benchmarkingarbete kan gå till i en kommunal förvaltning. I vår teoretiska referensram valde vi att dela in benchmarking i delarna Vad, Var och Hur då dessa delar utförligt beskriver benchmarkingens aspekter.

SammanfattningSyftet med detta arbete är att undersöka vilka metoder som används vid bestämning av plats för anläggning av jordtag. Ett jordtag kan anläggas antingen genom ytjordning där ledare läggs längsmed marken, eller via djupjordning där jordelektroder drivs ned i marken.Den viktigaste egenskapen hos ett jordtag är dess resistivitet. Då markens resistivitet skiljer sig beroende på vilken jordmån som finns blir val av plats viktig.Jordmånen vid ytan behöver inte heller vara densamma som längre ned i marken vilket ger ett problem vid bedömning av lämplig plats.Jordtag och jordning är viktigt i elnätet, främst ur en säkerhetssynpunkt, men även ur en ekonomisk synpunkt. Vikten av att ha ett fungerade jordtag med tillräckligt låg resistivitet är väldigt stor. Det kostar pengar att anlägga jordtag, att på ett ekonomiskt och tillförlitligt sätt hitta den bästa platsen kan därmed spara pengar.Vid utvärdering av jordtag utförs markresistivitetsmätningar, den utrustning som används ger dock en begränsad information om markresistiviteten med avseende på mätdjup och täckt yta.

A key part in the development and verification of digital systems is simulation. But hardware simulators are expensive, and software simulation is not fast enough for designs with a large number of gates. As today?s digital zesigns constantly grow in size (number of gates), and that trend shows no signs to end, faster simulators handling millions of gates are needed. We investigate how to create a software gate-level simulator able to simulate a high number of gates fast.

Denna studie har som ansats att diskutera vad populärkulturen har för påverkan. Detta görs genom att anta ett mindre perspektiv och ta upp hur populärkulturella tv-serier om terapi kan påverka och har påverkat de bilder som finns av terapi och terapeuter. Genom att tillämpa en kvalitativ metod har semistrukturerade intervjuer med fyra terapeuter och psykologer genomförts. Detta ger ytterligare ett nytt perspektiv då det är de som omfattas av mediebilden som ges möjlighet att diskutera den. Frågorna som tagits upp är huruvida de populärkulturella skildringarna är att betrakta som representativa och vad det kan ha för betydelse.

The award-winning Norwegian novelist Karl Ove Knausgård achieved great success with his latest book, Min kamp. Both commercially and critically, the novel was praised for its seemingly successful attempt to transcend the boundary between fiction and real life. Focusing on the auto-fictional narrator?s struggle to balance his daily life with his ever so demanding aesthetic ambitions, the novel gives high-detail descriptions of the most basic day-to-day chores, intimately mixed with philosophical reflections on topics such as painting, literature and postmodern civilisation.This essay proposes an alternative perspective on the realism of the novel. Instead of relying on a correspondence theoretical view, which highlights the level of correspondence of a particular representation with reality, I seek, inspired by Martin Heidegger?s thoughts on works of art, to trace a poetics which sees the verity in a work of art as the ?unconcealment? of the world, or the coming-to-being of objects.

Att kommunicera gestaltningsidéer genom visualiseringar av verkligheten är väsentligt för landskapsarkitekter. Mänskliga figurer, så kallade skalfigurer, placeras alltid i perspektivbilder och spelar där en nyckelroll. Tidigare forskning visar att de människor som representeras i landskapsarkitekters perspektivbilder inte överensstämmer med de verkliga demografiska strukturerna i Sverige. Personer med utländsk bakgrund, äldre, funktionshindrade och personer som bär kläder som tyder på religionstillhörighet är underrepresenterade i bilderna. Skalfigurer förstärker därför en vedertagen norm i samhället om att de flesta svenskar är vita, unga och utan synliga funktionshinder.

The Squares Family is a game developed as a learning aid in mathematics. With its graphical representation of the decimal system, the four basic arithmetic operations and positive and negative numbers together with a learning agent as pedagogical approach, the game?s primary purpose is to motivate students in their learning of mathematics. Although the game is strictly based on mathematical rules it attempts to encourage students to play and work with math without experiencing it as mathematics as this is initially not obvious. The game being internationally tested on normal performing students, this project introduced the game to six Swedish students who experience low motivation for and/or difficulties in mathematics.

J.O. Mallander?s Extended Play (1968) is a sound recording, a readymade, of the counting of votes in two presidential elections in Finland, during 1962 and 1968. A voice repeats monotonously: ?Kekkonen, Kekkonen, Kekkonen, Kekkonen, Kekkonen?? Although the Finnish president Urho Kekkonen represents, almost personifies, the politics of the post World War II period in Finland, Extended Play does not explicitly address the political. Rather, as this essay argues, it engages in the discourses of power and politics by providing a temporalization of its fixedness, or what Jacques Derrida terms the proper.Extended Play is, in parallel with Derrida?s critique of western metaphysics, a deconstruction in sound that challenges the state ideologies conveyed in the process of the counting of votes, where the presuppositions of the presence of the voice characterizes the ambiguities of power that Kekkonen?s politics of neutrality represent.Mallander?s readymade emerges as a double of the game theory strategies of the Cold War, a mimetic surplus of the administrative control mechanisms of sound recording.

The visual representation of management (board of directors, chief executive officer and executive management) in annual reports is an area of scholarship that has not been explored much. In the present study a sample of 87 annual reports from business enterprises within a Swedish context, comprising about 300 photographs, was analyzed using an explorative method of analysis based on semiotics and grounded theory. The influence of the context on images raises a question discussed in the study: Should the photographs in the annual report be categorized as portraits, advertisements and others or should the annual report be regarded as a genre of its own? The photographs showed patterns of homogeneity regarding gender, dress, gestures, colours, pictorial compositions et cetera. The position of the (male) CEO is privileged, but he is also connected to the group through various means like dress and style, thereby further underscoring management as a male enterprise and demonstrating the importance of the suit and necktie in creating homosocial bonds.

Fairy tales are commonly considered to be both timeless and classless. Since the 17th century, when most of the tales we have access to today were first collected and published, the idea that fairy tales are part of an oral tradition, and therefore more or less uninfluenced by academic and literary trends, have been dominant amongst researchers, critics and readers. This idea needs to be revaluated. Even if the tales might have their roots in an oral tradition the history of the fairy tale ?is not primarily a history of oral transmission, but rather a history of print?, as Elizabeth Wanning Harries puts it (Wanning Harries, 2001:4).

This study examines how the media reports on the Pride Festival in Stockholm and what news topics and themes it prioritizes. The purpose of this paper is to examine whether the media coverage of Pride highlights political questions related to social and societal problems. One of the main focuses of the study is on how the media covers male and female homosexuality. The newspapers examined are the tabloids Aftonbladet and Expressen and the respected dailies Dagens Nyheter and Svenska Dagbladet. The study extends over three periods: 19-07-2010 to 07-08-2010, 25-07-2011 to 14-08-2011, and 24-07-2012 to 11-08-2012.Several key theories and themes frame the study.

Syfte: Studien ämnar utforska på vilket sätt framställningen av herr- respektive damfotboll skiljer sig i dagstidningar. Särskild vikt läggs på att undersöka om herrfotbollen framställs som normen och damfotbollen som en avvikelse.Teori: De teorier som ligger till grund för den här studien är fyra till antalet. Den första, representation, förklarar hur allt runtomkring oss i själva verket är sociala konstruktioner. Den andra, könskonstruktion, reflekterar kring begreppen maskulinitet och femininitet samt dess inkluderade maktaspekt. Den tredje, stereotypisering, handlar om hur vissa människor riskerar reduceras genom medierade framställningar.
