In this diploma work we present the results from a study of how adult immigrants utilise the services provided by the public library in Biskopsgården, Gothenburg. A survey encompassing 51 library visitors of foreign origin and an interview with two librarians at the library were performed.The results from the survey show that the majority of the informants were male students inages from 26 to 45 years and that they had been living in Sweden for a maximum of five years. 73% of the informants used the library to borrow literature in Swedish, 53% to read newspapers and periodicals in their native language, 43% to borrow literature in their native language and 43% to read newspapers and periodicals in Swedish.These results were compared with two other related studies with which partial correspondencewas found. In addition, related topics such as multicultural librarianship and the psychological aspects of immigration are discussed..

The aim of this thesis is to investigate the local debate on the Music library in Västervik to see what arguments, pro et contra, that constitutes it. Since its opening the Music library has faced regular threats of being closed down. This is an issue interesting due to several factors, its lack of guaranteed public funding and relative importance to Västervik´s attempts at city branding being two. Using argument analysis, the thesis proposes that the local debate shows traces of both instrumental and culture centered, intrinsical views of the Music library, and that the instrumental view holds both negative and positive poles of opinion while the intrinsical counterpart is one-sidedly positive. Further, the thesis argues that this is in line with a long since documented shift in cultural politics towards a more market oriented discourse..

We have produced a process mapping and from there developed a document management plan for the research service at the Labour Movement Archives and Library (ARAB) in Stockholm, Sweden. The project was conducted during five weeks in the spring of 2011 at ARAB and the resulting classification structure and document plan has been formulated and presented to the staff at a seminar. We found that the institution in some cases were suffering from an inadequate documentation in a number of the identified processes, and also in their records management and archiving. In this additional memorandum follows an analyzing discussion of activity-based document- and archive management, e-archives and process mapping. We have accordingly tried to standardize the process of research services and contribute to a more adequate document management within the institution.

Högskoleförordningen (SFS 2006:173) föreskriver akademiska krav i kursplan och kursmål för både grund- och avancerad nivå i sjuksköterskeutbildningar. I svensk sjuksköterskeförening, på lärosäten och i klinisk verksamhet pågår diskussioner om hur dessa teoretiska krav ska förenas i klinisk praktik. Syftet var att belysa faktorer av betydelse för handledarskapet på grund och avancerad nivå och undersöka handledningsstrategier som kan förenar teori och verksamhetsförlagd utbildning för sjuksköterske- och specialistsjuksköterskestuderande. Metoden var en litteraturstudie som baserades på 11 vetenskapliga artiklar som kritiskt grans-kades och analyserades. Resultatet visar att det förutsätts ett väl fungerande samarbete mellan fakultet och klinisk verksamhet med tydligt formulerade kursplaner, mål och riktlinjer för handledning och stöd till handledare från fakultet och verksamhet.

The purpose of the study was from the perspective of young people that has completed a stay at HVB-home. The respondents are between 15-21 years both boys and girls. The basic questions were: How do the respondents look upon this HVB-homes service process? How do the respondents look upon this HVB-homes service contents? How do the respondents look upon this HVB-homes service regarding available information and how the staff is available? What positive and negative experience do they have from their stay at the HVB-home? We also wish to get a picture of what is important to change to improve the quality on this HVB-home. To receive answers to those questions we formed a questionnaire.

The purpose of this thesis was to explore the phenomenon called bookcrossing. To fulfill this I have asked the following research questions: Why do people participate in bookcrossing?What functions do books have for bookcrossers? The method used is qualitative, semi structured interviews. Four active bookcrossers have been interviewed. These interviews revealed that bookcrossing as an activity in a medium sized town is very small.

The aim of this paper is to investigate who the visitors are at a children's department at amain library in a larger municipality, and for what purpose they use it. We discuss: Is therea difference between various user groups, and if so, how do they differ'? Which library rolesdoes the children's department have? Does the children's department serve as a local libraryfor those who live in the immediate surroundings or as a main library for the whole municipality?The paper is based on a user survey performed in the spring of 1996 at the City Library ofGothenburg. 417 visitors and five staff members were interviewed.The children's department is used by various groups of people, from young children to seniorcitizens. The library roles are, among other things, an independent learning center and formaleducation support center.

The purpose of this essay is to study the process of developing electronic subject guides for the Internet. Our focus is the content, structure and layout of the subject guide. The study has resulted in a number of guidelines that may be of help in the development of future subject guides. To achieve this purpose we have studied the existing subject guide at one of the faculties of the University of Lund, Sweden. We performed a series of interviews with the originators, and made a questionnaire for the users.

Under de senaste åren har flertalet stämningar riktade mot revisionsbyråer fått medialt utrymme. I media och i den akademiska debatten framkommer olika anledningar till varför revisorn har blivit stämd, vilka kan kopplas till teorier inom revision och den problematik som är knuten till yrket. Syftet med denna uppsats är att utreda hur revisionsprofessionen i Sverige förklarar att revisorn blir stämd. I den teoretiska referensramen har vi med teori om revisionsmisslyckande, förväntningsgapet samt försäkringshypotesen. Tillsammans bildar dessa teorier en analysmodell som vi har utgått från vid insamling och analys av empirin.

Syftet med detta arbete var att undersöka hur vuxna elever som studerar svenska som andraspråk resonerar kring sina inlärningsstrategier. Studien genomfördes med kvalitativ ansats och datainsamlingsmetod var semistrukturerade intervjuer. Inom denna studie intervjuades sex vuxna elever, som planerar att påbörja sina studier på högskolor. Resultaten i denna studie visade att vuxna elever använde eller uttryckte sammanlagd fyrtio av sextiotvå inlärningsstrategier som är utarbetade av Oxford, forskare inom språkvetenskap. Minnesstrategier, affektiva strategier och sociala strategier kunde kartläggas i större utsträckning än kognitiva strategier, kompensationsstrategier och metakognitiva strategier.

I den akademiska världen kämpar studenter med att balansera upplevda krav från omgivning och upplevd egen förmåga för att hantera dessa krav. Studien syftar till att undersöka om juriststudenter upplever stress i högre utsträckning än psykologstudenter och om studiekraven mellan dessa grupper skiljer sig åt. Undersökningsdeltagarna valdes ut genom bekvämlighetsurval på Stockholms universitet. En enkät avsedd att mäta studiekrav och upplevd stress delades ut till jurist- och psykologstudenter. Resultatet visade att juriststudenterna lade ner mer tid på sina studier per vecka och att psykologstudenter hade fler grupp- och individuella arbeten innevarande termin.

Jag har valt att studera hur valet av barnlitteratur ser ut på tre förskolor. Uppsatsens syfte är att undersöka hur barnlitteraturen kommer till förskolan. Den väg som jag inriktat mig på är pedagoger på förskolor som är verksamma som läsinspiratörer via biblioteket. Jag undersöker hur de påverkar urvalet av böcker som finns för barnen på förskolan. Genom att undersöka vägen som litteraturen tar innan den hamnar på förskolan vill jag synliggöra valet som biblioteket och pedagogerna gör av böcker och se hur anpassad litteratururvalet blir till barnen.

Som avslutande del i högskoleingenjörsutbildningar ingår ofta ett examensarbete. Denna rapport behandlar ett examensarbete som utförts för avdelningen för datorkommunikation och datalogi vid Luleå Tekniska Universitet. Avdelningen för datorkommunikation och datalogi har sedan tidigare använt sig av ett webbaserat system för hantering av BibTeX-databaser. Systemet var skrivet i Perl och bestod av tre skript och ett BibTeX-bibliotek. Med senare versioner av Perl och användandet av BibTeX-biblioteket uppstod vissa problem, den nya versionen av Perl var inte längre kompatibelt med BibTeX- biblioteket.

The essay deals with adult education from a local perspective more specifically that ofthe IOGT lodge Leon Garnbetta in Varberg. The material that has been used covers a limited period of time, which stretches from 1883 to 1926.This temperance lodge was founded in 1883 and is still active. The essay provides a historical survey of the temperance movement in Sweden and depicts the ideas behind adult educa­tion, but it also gives a more general historical account of the town of Varberg and its popu­lar movements.By studying handwritten records from the lodge it is possible to establish a picture of its work, activities, discussions, its striving for democracy, educational activities and the principles behind these and finally the lodge's own library which was started at an early stage. All these aspects are then treated in a historical and a political context..
