Vilka faktorer medverkar till att professioner i primärvården förskriver fysisk aktivitet på recept (FaR)?

The aim was to study the factors that contributed to the prescription of physical activity on prescription (PaP) by the professions in primary healthcare. A qualitative method was used in the study. The sample consisted of six participants; two doctors, two physiotherapists and two district nurses in primary healthcare in Uppsala County. The data were collected with semi-structured interviews and were analyzed with a thematic approach. The results show a great variety in which type of patient that receive PaP, however people with lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and obesity are often more represented. The factors that contribute to prescribing is: the prescriber should have time set aside in their daily schedule to be able to focus on the patient, the patient should be motivated to a lifestyle change, there should be opportunity for further education in PaP and physical activity linked to different diagnoses and  motivational interviewing (MI). Other important factors are collaboration between professions, cooperation with ?Friskvårdslotsen? (the health maintenance guide). The head of the departments involvement and concern in increasing the implementation of PaP is also important. Cheaper alternatives to physical activities need to be founded for people with a strained economical situation. The conclusion is that time, education, motivation and development are the factors that contribute to prescription in their encounter with the patient.
